I guess I don’t get how the viewpoint even differs from Ryan’s. From what I can tell, Republicans claim their plan will better serve all Americans than the status quo (or any Democrats’ plan). The prayer asks that the members of the House pass a tax plan that serves all Americans. It does not take a position as to whose plan will actually better serve all Americans.

That’s why I said his objection to the prayer seems like an admission that his plan is not intended to serve all Americans…(that is the only way the prayer could be seen as taking sides, as far as I am reading it.)

I think this is a total overreaction by Ryan. There has to be a backstory leading up to this action. If there is one thing that everyone can agree on, it is that Paul Ryan is a levelheaded person. This is out of character.
 
The back story is that representatives said he was too busy to provide pastoral services. Figures.

We need a Dominican or a priest of Opus Dei who will literally kill themselves hearing confessions, giving spiritual direction, giving short talks, giving meditations, providing means of formation.

You won’t get with them the Jesuit version of new spirituality…political agenda badly couched in syncretistic prayers.

Everyone is NOT called to be their “neighbor’s keeper”!!
This is a Socialistic view of society, “everyone” looks after
the poor, but in a Truly Christian(Catholic) society, the
Church is called to step up to the plate. I am not placing
the onus ENTIRELY on the Church, but there should be
a parallel system in place for the Church to help the gov’t
look after the poor.

To some degree, but what we have now is an entitlement state. This is very un-Catholic as it leads to scandal.
 
The reason for “entitlement” is that the Church’s Teachings
on robbing the government and therefore the taxpayers is
falling on deaf ears, b/c THE GOVERNMENT is secular and
has all but “put down” the Church’s voice on how to live a
decent god-fearing life!!

Jesuit views? How uncatholic…how unchristian…instead he should stick to good old tried and true Republican moral values, like those espoused by the party’s leadership…then he wouldn’t have to be given the boot!

Wouldn’t be much for them to do, as the party’s standard bearer during the 2016 campaign said he never needed to ask for forgiveness, because he never did anything that called for it.

The Dominicans are carrying the heavy water now, cheerfully.

He’d make a great pastor at a Church, very pastoral. Great instincts and points.

Running a billion person Church, takes more than a pastor.

Not clear enough of a writer and thinker.

So what about secular priests who do not belong to a religious order…they are suspect too, because they are not Dominicans?

No the Jesuits are all to themselves and are happy to tell you that.
 
What about Redemptorists? I hope they are “real” Catholics because i attend a Redemptorist Parish. I would hate to find out they don’t qualify according to some guy on CAF.
