Fr. Francis Mary Stone…

Fr. Thomas Euteneuer…

and now Fr. John Corapi…

Fame really does seem to do a number…
It is not fair that you have placed Fr. Corapi on the list with Fr. Stone and Fr. Euteneur. While both Fr. Stone and Fr. Euteneur were proven to behave in a manner “unbecoming a priest,” we do not know that that is the case with Fr. Corapi as well. Allegations have been made, that is all. While fame has certainly affected Fr. Corapi and he is quite well known, it is wrong to believe without proof that it has corrupted him.

Fr. Corapi is a strong and faithful priest, a good and holy man. We should continue to believe that unless or until it is proven that he actually behaved in a manner “unbecoming a priest.” Unless or until then–and I personally don’t believe that will happen–it is not right or fair to list him with Fr. Stone and Fr. Euteneur.

Hasn’t Father, in the past (even during one of his EWTN programs), mentioned that there are female stalkers who even write him letters about vacations they’ve taken together—that never occurred?

Satan knows his enemy and knows exactly who to attack.

But if EWTN has dropped him from their line-up, I really will think twice about giving them more money. What happened to innocent until proven guilty, or doesn’t the church have to adhere to that standard?

I’m not denying that you heard what you heard, but some of these various stories as purportedly relayed by Fr. Corapi seem a little out there to me. How many priests, even ones that are on TV and give well-attended retreats, have stories about female stalkers taking imaginary vacations with them to go along with the men waiting in backyards to jump them or waking to find your dog has an intruder pinned in the corner.

Even here on another CAF thread one poster claimed he heard Fr. Corapi said he’d been in a recording studio with Led Zeppelin as they dedicated their latest release to Satan. Others have said he said he’s witnessed satanic rituals associated with various musicians.

It all seems just a little too much to me. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’m just saying. It could be his fans are embellishing the stories themselves and before too long the words get put in his mouth.

I have no problem believing any of this! I truly believe that this happened…I have been to 5 of conferences and he hasn’t in the truth of his stories. But he did add that maybe some of his detractors and attackers were mentally ill. In Buffalo, he was threatened 5 times during the week-end. That is why he has bodyguards not only to protect him but to be witnesses as wee, from the advice of his lawyer.

Well, it is now in the secular media. Sigh.

Pray, pray, pray for Fr. Corapi and all priests and clergy.

"Priest cancels fundraiser amid sex, drug allegations

UNDATED (WREX) - Father John Corapi has been forced to cancel a Catholic Charities fundraiser in DeKalb after accusations of drug addiction and sexual exploits surface."…

SNAP has no interest here. This is just another example of how they operate on half-truths and inuendo. There has been **no **allegation of child sexual abuse, that which the bishops have been transparent about. There has been zero allegation of any crime at all. If the man were not a Catholic priest, this wouldn’t be a concern to anyone. This is yet one more reason to be suspect of everything this agenda-drive organization says.
Additionally, their editorializing of him as a cult priest.

I was so saddened by what I heard about Father Corapi. I love him, and cannot believe a woman would charge such a man of God with such allegations. The administrative leave will do harm to his reputation and ministry, that is for sure. They are all coming out of the woodwork now against the Catholic Church. Here in Philadelphia, more people have surfaced, accusing dead priests of sexual misconduct, just so they get their money and time in the media. Satan is working overtime. I will continue to pray for Father, and I cannot wait to hear him back on the radio.

“…A zero-tolerance policy without due process that de facto impugns the reputations of the accused is immoral. The Church has a duty to protect the innocent, even if the innocent is a priest. Of course, the Church has a moral duty to make sure that the scandal of abuse and coverup is never repeated, but it cannot willfully sacrifice the reputations of the innocent as indemnification. The end does not justify the means. I do not know that any of this applies to the Father Corapi case, but we have seen this happen in other cases too, and it is wrong.”…

"…It is important to keep in mind that this action in no way implies Father Corapi is guilty of the allegation. It is equally important to know that, based on the information we have received thus far, the claim of misconduct does not involve minors and does not arise to the of criminal conduct. "…

"…“It is important to accord Father Corapi the principles of due process, including the assumption of innocence, until a full investigation is carried out by his superiors. More importantly, I appeal for prayers on behalf of everyone involved in this very complex situation.”…

If the woman in question was over the age of 18 than the man would never have been removed. If she was over the age of 18 and the man was removed that means there’s a lot more to the story than the priest told Fr. Corapi.
I discovered from another link that Fr. Corapi said that an former employee had typed a 3 page letter sent to the bishop with these accusations. The head of the order that he is with will be assigning two priests (as yet unnamed) to investigate these charges. He still insists that he is innocent, and I believe him as when Fr. Etenhauer was accused, he readily did admit to something or other, and I don’t believe that Fr. Corapi would lie. The priests who will do this investigation are not affiliated with he order he is in.

Let us pray both for him and his accusers. It was a shock to see him pulled off of EWTN although I can see their reasoning, that until the investigation is over they must conform to the Church, and if he was found guilty it would be more than an embarrassment to them.

I hope however, that Mother Angelica and her nuns are also praying for him. I expected at least a short announcement from them perhaps on Raymond Arroyo’s show, so the shock of cutting off his show hit me hard. Prayers for all, and I also am praying to St. Jude.

Additionally, their editorializing of him as a cult priest.
This is not what was said. I criticized SNAP for their bias, so on this one I have to say “cult priest” distorts what was said.

We’ve long been skeptical of these sort of ‘freelance,’ traveling priests who seem to foster a cult of personality
I could care less what SNAP thinks. In fact, their use of “freelance” shows they have no concept of Church operations. The idea of a cult of personality has to do with the elevation of a person as a celebrity in the style of Madonna. I think the term is very misapplied to Fr. Corapi, but SNAP did not say he was a cult priest.

Sorry, I don’t see the difference. At cult priest to me is the same as one who fosters a cult personality. But for those who do, thanks for pointing it out.
:o

What happens if he was say innocent, continues preaching etc and say 6 months from now others wanna jump on the bandwagon to cause chaos again? If it’s not Fr. Corapi it will be another well known priest in the future. Snap is already all over this story snapnetwork.org/ and is ready for an attack against him. I think this is a loophole no one really thought about, it’s simple all one needs to do is complain, lie and you get what you want usually. Technically speaking if we want a priest gone all we really need to do is write a letter to his bishop making up stories and based on canon law they will have to suspend him and investigate. Is there really no better way to handle these situations?
This is my question exactly. All someone has to do is accuse a priest of wrong doing and “bingo” you’re life and ministry is on hold…possibly ruined whether you be innocent or not.

SNAP’s “news” story on Fr. Corapi is nothing but a biased editorial.

People here are quick to defend Fr Corapi and I understand why but then they turn around and are just as quick to condemn EWTN for its actions.

You do not know why they dropped Fr Corapi’s programs. As I stated they could be considered to be part of his public ministry which he is now on leave from. SOLT could have asked EWTN to pull them because they placed him on leave from public ministry. How do you explain to people who purchased tickets to an event who my have to jump through hoops to get refunds because the event was cancelled yet Fr Corapi is still appearing on EWTN?

Being placed on leave from public ministry while still having a program on EWTN can be confusing and raise questions. A program on EWTN is a public ministry so it logically flows that if one is placed on leave from public ministry that their programs would be lifted from ETWN.

As for Fr Corapi’s Sunday Homilies at his website, they are there through another company, Santa Cruz Media. We do not know what the contractual agreements are between them, Fr Corapi, and SOLT. They may not be able to pull this as quickly due to that.

As for the comment about youtube videos, that would be up to his superiors to decide what to do with those.

EWTN is a private entity and they are within their right (as long as it does not violate any contracts) to do as they wish. You might not think it is fair but fairness rarely has anything to do with justice.

I also have noticed something interesting. Fr Corapi is a well known preacher and many here are followers of him. When he is criticized (or any other well known famous priest), as he is here, many jump to his defense but when a priest is criticized anonymously many jump to join in condemning the anonymous priest. I think we all need to look at our motives and reflect on this trend here at CAF. <---- This is my opinion that I have developed from my time here at CAF. It is not open to discussion as I have said it is my opinion.

I was very sad to hear the news about Fr. Corapi. Although I’m not a huge fan of his style, I have always harboured an affection for him and the work he has done, and I know lots of people (like my mum) who almost feel huge relief that there is someone who is willing to actually teach the faith they were taught as children, rather than the watered down liberal pap taught in many places instead.

I thought Fr. John Zuhlsdorf had some very valuable observations:

wdtprs.com/blog/2011/03/priests-holiness-and-avoid-a-spiritual-peril/

I might add that it is Lent, and I don’t know about you lot, but I always feel like the devil is on my back at this time of year like no other! There is always such an obvious proliferation of this kind of story at this time of year, it amazes me–it’s so blatant!

I HEARD him. Out of his own mouth. So have many others. Though I do not think he ever mentioned any rock band by name, he did say that he had seen one or more dedicate albums to Satan.

Who is it you disbelieve? Those of us who heard with our own ears or Father?

I’m inclined to agree with Chad on this.
