A correction to my earlier post: John Corapi’s new manager is Justin, not Jason, Meccia.

There are some who are saddened and some who are cheering.

Regardless,

It is all very sad.

Priest Corapi has talked many times about the continuous pressure, miles flown and the travails of himself and other priests. Priest Corapi is human as we all are, including all priests and The Priest.

Let’s suppose, through some Deception by The Liar, the public ministry for Priest Corapi led or was leading him to mortal sin. Would it be better for him to cast the public ministry away?

His new manager is a young man named Justin Meccia, who is a member of Skull Church, a nondenominational evangelical Christian outreach to young skaters, bikers, and rock music fans, in Kalispell, MT, where John Corapi lives. Skull Church uses the “dark” imagery adopted by many young people in this demographic, but attempts to transform it with a Christian message.

I am by no means implying that this isn’t a good and fruitful ministry of its kind, and nor were my earlier remarks meant to be derogatory toward non-Catholic Christians. I just see it as part of the pattern of moving away from a specifically Catholic audience, especially one that is devout in ways that many Protestants find problematic.

I have no idea who is influencing or advising whom, but this is the person to whom John Corapi has chosen to entrust at least the maintenance and promotion of his new image.
Can you tell me how you found out this information? I went to the Skull Church website but didn’t see him specifically mentioned. I would be very interested in why these young edgy people would be interested in an aging (but trying not to) Catholic priest. It would not be the first time a mid-life crisis sent someone back into their young adulthood. Will be interesting to see if they eventually link to his Black Sheepdog website, or he to theirs.

Actually if these are the people involved, at least he is still in a Christian circle, although he is giving up the fullness of the Truth. I wonder how he came into contact with this ministry? Through motorcycle riding? Interesting all around.

Edit: I found an article that mentions the well-known “drinking culture in Montana.” Very interesting in light of the information released by SOLT.

He clearing isn’t looking to “come back”. He is looking to “moving on”

I wish him nothing but the best in for his future, whatever it holds for him.

God go with you, Fr. Corapi.
I’m more in accord with this comment than most of the others here. I think Fr, Corapi wants to continue the work he has been doing. He can’t do that silently, especially since he has been officially silenced by his order. I speak of him as Fr. Corapi, because he says he is a priest forever. He is not leaving the Church, but he will be ineffectual if he just “lies down and dies.” I wish him success and happiness in his new venture. This situation somehow reminds me of when high church officials tried to silence Mother Angelica. God, Himself, showed His favor to her when He healed her at that time of her decades long crippling health problems. Maybe God will do something for Fr. Corapi to show where His feelings lie in this matter. God bless him.

The link you provided has a countdown clock at the top similar to the one on the Fr. Corapi website.

Mother Angelica did not leave the Church and was not disobedient. Her order did not find her unfit for her religious vocation as a Sister, and did not find her guilty of impropriety. Indeed, there was no ecclesial investigation of her, because no one charged her with any wrong doing in the first place as is the case with Fr. Corapi. Please read the entire thread, or at least familiarize yourself with what is happening with Fr. Corapi. There is no way the situation Fr. is in can be even remotely compared with Mother Angelica…

Yes, Cardinal Mahoney of Los Angeles accused her of impropriety. She said she would give zero obedience to him if he were actually leading others to question the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. He went all the way to Rome to get her removed from her position in her order and from EWTN.

What are you saying?
Remember it was “Let’s suppose”. Theoretical.

What if the constant pressure of flying (I seem to recall flying gave him headaches) and public speaking was causing such pressure and anguish as to entertain thoughts of drugs, alcohol or suicide? Recall that Satan knows one’s weaknesses – all of them.

Just an application of Matthew 5:29.

Life is complex and The Liar doesn’t make it easy.

Priest Corapi has a soul to save, too.

St. John Vianney, while waiting for his bishop in the bishop’s office, noticed a letter alleging that he was not spiritually equipped to be a priest. The letter was signed by a number of priests. After reading the letter, he added his signature. He became the patron saint of priests.

Somewhere i remember, a saying that one can attack the man and prevail but not the truth.

Fr. Corapi has spoken volumes of truth. He has lived the truth. There is a saying that religion is for people who want to stay out of hell. Spirituality is for those who have lived through hell.

I can recommend “The Twelve Steps of Spirituality” by Fr. Vogt. I have spent 18 yrs in a 12 step program and i’ve known of many miraculous healings from the “truth”.

why is mr. corapi ad vertising himself so much on utube? i think all religions and all people ashould be praying for the world to repent and not get excessively involved with this mr. coropi as he seems to be too much into himself not going out and serving jesus christ, i am sad he shows no respect for his former religious commun ity. he is a c ontradiction we need harmony and to respect authority.

This OSV article notes that former Santa Cruz Media V.P. and Corapi web manager Bobbi Ruffatto resigned May 31.

osv.com/tabid/7621/itemid/8108/Father-John-Corapi-walks-away-from-priestly-minist.aspx

Calls to Santa Cruz Media by reporters have occasionally reached Justin Meccia, who identifies himself as Corapi’s manager. Justin Meccia was mentioned on the Black SheepDog Facebook page as identifying himself as working for John Corapi and as attempting to start new a John Corapi Facebook page, which the posters supportive of Fr Corapi were suspicious of because of the connection they found to Skull Church. Justin Meccia’s personal page is connected to The BlackSheepDog Facebook page as well as to the Skull Church Facebook page, where he frequently posts.

Admittedly, that’s connecting a lot of dots, but I believe John Corapi needs someone to manage his web and Facebook pages, and it appears that someone named Justin Meccia is doing that now. Unfortunately, John Corapi no longer seems to have the services of a production crew that can make the best use of his state-of-the-art studios, as the poorly recorded audio and video posts from TBSD attest.

That phrase he keeps using, in slightly different formats,

“I won’t crawl under a rock and die,”
“They want me to crawl under a rock and die,”
“I’m not ready to lay down and die,”

brings up the question, "What if Jesus Christ had said,

“I’m not ready to crawl up on that cross and die!”
“They want me to just crawl up on that cross and die!”
“I’m not ready to lay down and die.”

We’d all still be doomed to an eternity in Hell. I am not saying Corapi is Jesus, or even like Jesus (although he is still a priest), but if Jesus had surrendered to that kind of pride, instead of surrendering to this Father’s will…well, we’d have no Savior. He’d be like Lucifer was.

We all have our moment(s) in life when we have to lay our own ego down and let it die. You’ve gone through it, I’ve gone through it, we know it won’t be the last time. Maybe it’s when we are too old to walk and have to use a walker, or ask for help. Maybe it’s when we recognize our physical abilities just won’t allow us to drive safely any longer, and we give up that driver’s license. Maybe it’s when we are wrongly fired from our job, and there is no way to appeal for justice. Maybe it’s when we realize our adult child is an alcoholic and there is absolutely nothing we can do that will fix him or her. It happens in many ways throughout a person’s life. But pride and arrogance can stop that natural process…One puts one’s hands up, “NO! I won’t let go! I won’t cooperate!” And the whirlwind of consequences begins…

But at any moment, we can recognize our mistakes and turn back to God. Humble ourselves, and ask for His help with our prideful arrogance. John Corapi could do this, even now. I am still praying that he is on the road to Damascus…

Okay, but that is clearly not what is going on with Fr. Corapi.

First of all, the reason I asked “What are you saying?” was because the post did not make sense to me. There were some stray words here and there, and it did not flow in a way that made sense to me. I was not trying to imply anything by asking, “What are you saying?” to the poster.

Secondly, no one is saying that Fr. Corapi does not have a soul to save. In fact, if you read the entire thread and the other threads on this topic, you will see that concern and prayer for Fr. Corapi have permeated them from the start.

Somewhere i remember, a saying that one can attack the man and prevail but not the truth.

Fr. Corapi has spoken volumes of truth. He has lived the truth.
That may be, but right now he has been implicated in numerous cases of misconduct and there are many witnesses with hard evidence against him. His order has found him guilty of misconduct. If he disagrees with his Order’s finding, there are channels available to him to exonerate himself. Instead he has chosen to walk away.

I know I have said this a lot in my last several posts, but there are many new people joining the discussion at this late point. Please, please, all of you who are new - please read through this entire thread as well as the other threads on the same topic. You will see that many of the points you are bringing to the table have been discussed and hashed through at length. There is no need to keep repeating the same points of discussion over and over again.

Juliane this was a beautiful post! 🙂

Your sequence of events is off. Cardinal Mahony issued a pastoral letter on the Eucharist to the faithful of the Los Angeles Archdiocese. Mother Angelica found fault with that letter, and publicly accused the Cardinal of deliberately downplaying the truth of the Real Presence, among other statements that she felt were theologically and liturgically unsound. She said, “I’m afraid my obedience in that diocese would be absolutely zero. And I hope everybody else’s in that diocese is zero.”

It was this statement, which violates the canonical prohibition against inciting the faithful to disobedience of their Ordinary, to which Cardinal Mahony objected. He asked Mother Angelica to apologize publicly for this disrespect. She did so as a formality, and then repeated her stance regarding what she called the Cardinal’s failure to teach truth. It was at that point that Cardinal Mahony appealed to Rome for a ruling on where accountability lies for media apostolates like EWTN that call themselves Catholic, but are independent entities. That question, as we see today with Santa Cruz Media, remains unsettled.

Whatever you think of Cardinal Mahony’s orthodoxy or lack of it, it was Mother Angelica who launched the attack on him, not the other way around. And any comparisons between Mother Angelica and John Corapi have more to do with the notion of what constitutes obedience and respect for hierarchical authority than they do with being victimized by false allegations.

I hope and pray that he has not relapsed, but frankly, I would much rather blame all this current scandal and his unpriestly behavior on a relapse than to think he is behaving this way while he is in his “right mind” so to speak.

Yes. I know this does happen. But it also happens, and many of us have witnessed this personally in loved ones, that years of prior addiction can cause early dementia, emotional dysregulation in seniors, and erratic behavior, even if the person is still abstitnent.

Completely agree with both thoughts.

Mother Angelica had the Pope on her side also…and he sent her a gift. That show out of respect for the bishop isn’t shown as a rerun. She was allowed to have the mass the way she wanted it (as they do in Rome) but not on TV.

Mother lived and breathed Jesus and would never, ever, leave him or not repent of her sins. She isn’t a saint, (although being purified now it seems) and I can’t imagine a comparison. Read HER bio for a good read, I have no desire to read John Corapi’s. I can’t even imagine what else but his conversion story he can put in it.
