I think this thread might be manufacturing some urban legend…

Death threats? Maybe. Credible death threats? Not likely. Think for a moment – just who would be making such threats? Dissident Catholics who want more “change?” I think not.

Five body guards? Highly doubtful. While I could see 1 or 2 simply because Fr. Corapi is now a celebrity of sorts, I don’t believe he had a detail of five bodyguards. For what it’s worth, I have the feeling that Fr. Corapi is quite capable of defending himself – in more ways than one…

You can post what you want to…it is a free world after all. But to accuse anything said here as some urban legens, then, you are mistaken. It was said directly for his own mouth…and you wonder why there are threats to him. Just listen to him talk about the United States and where his country is at…that may be a start tyo understand the threats he gets…

I have seen Fr. John at more than one Marian Conference – he didn’t have any body guards.

I have listened to him in person and on EWTN and I have yet to understand where such death threats would come from, other than the typical threats that plague just about any celebrity.

What he says is powerful and the devil does not like it at all. Among the threats are unbalanced people for sure, but they are threats nonetheless. I SAW the bodyguard…how can that urban legend…or in other words, a lie?

Sorry AlterMan, I’m gonna have to back up Shoshana’s claim that there were body guards - I was at the same conference. I have seen him several times as well, but this past Sept was the first time I saw him with body guards. Maybe a new addition to his entourage.

Tis true my friend. Doubt no more.

While Fr Corapi may be capable of defending himself, one cannot do so while attending to book signings. Let’s not forget also that the man is in his early 60’s now and not the soldier that he used to be. Now he is a soldier of God, not the US Military. His rigorous physical training has long been turned into bible reading.

Am I mistaken or don’t some celebrities get stalked and even killed on rare, horrific occasions? John Lennon, Rebecca Schaeffer…why not Fr Corapi? He surely has a more powerful message.
 
And why would Fr John feel the threats (which are real) and not say, Fr Groeschel??? Both are very holy and challenge the status quo!

I could see Fr. John having a body guard or two at a large event like I said perviously (posting #41), but 5? Highly doubtful. And credible threats on his life? I think not.

Yeah - see, that’s my point exactly. Now you’re catching on. Why stalk and kill an actress? Fr Corapi is saving souls - the enemy has many earthly servants that would love to squelch his message.

OK - well, I know what I saw and what he told us , his audience. I’m not about to argue with someone as knowledgeable as you. :whistle: For you seem to be well- connected as to what goes on behind the scenes of Fr Corapi’s mission. Okey dokey! :rolleyes:

Corapi, he re-tells that story about how he was stopped by the Highway Patrol for going over 100 MPH in his Ferrari with a “well-known actress” in the front seat and a substantial amount of cocaine in the back (he keeps changing the quantity every time he tells the story 😛 ). Heck, if I had a story that great, I’d keep re-telling it too!

He never says who the famous actress was-does anybody know or have any guesses?

See, if you’re fishing for the details in the story, then you are missing the point of his story.

I have heard him tell that time and time again. His point is that he was being protected and guided by heavenly hands. Not that he had xyz qty of cocaine in his trunk.

He is way too prudent to name the actress.

Methinks there is projection going on here…crude???..well, calling two people who have gone to the conference and heard these very same words from Fr John Corapi liars, is crude by far. If there is disbelief in your blood, pray that the Holy Spirit clears it up for you for I see that human reasoning will not be successful in your case. You need divine intervention…I say this in all christian charity.

It is exactly people like this that causes me to wonder why people react the way they do…when they are affronted by someone as so holy as Fr John. Peace be with you my firend and may the Lord bless you…

A question has been asked about the legitimacy of downloading from the above site. From what I’ve been able to determine, The site seems to belong to Catholic Audio. According to their main page, they have permission from EWTN and the other sources of programs which are downloadable from their site.
