I Love Corapi but this really disapointed me. He should take notes on what to do in the face of a trial from the priest below in my signature.

I have never been a fan of Fr Corapi especially when one of the first things i ever heard him utter on public radio was that while in the seminary a priest told him that he did not believe in the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, and that many others do not either.
Wait.
You think it’s acceptable that another priest told him, a seminarian, that Jesus is not present in the Eucharist? Or do you just think that he’s a liar?
Only time will tell where all this is headed, but I honestly think it is part of a bigger agenda.
Ohhhh Kaayyy. Here come the conspiracy theorists.

I think honestly he should not be saying those things on public radio. It just stirs people up.That is just my opinion mind you. 😉

Of course. Why would I except them?
Just wanted to be sure. There is a good book about how feminist sisters forced nuns to live in commercial housing, get jobs, and a whole host of other things. It is called Sisters in Crisis. Over a period of time, the sisterhood diminished in large part because there weren’t that many orders living in community.

Yes, I think he should too. After reading the NCR article, which I think was very fair, I am very uncomfortable with him leaving the priesthood.

I will not remain a follower now that I know more details, but will be praying for his soul, and hopefully his repentance, his obedience to his order, and return to the priesthood.

This is one lesson for me, because I thought he was the perfect priest, yet all of us are sinners and its unfair to put any priest on a pedestal like I did. St. John Vianney, please pray for him. And St. Michael the Archangel, please keep him out of Satan’s claws.
:bighanky:

I can’t even bring myself to read or listen to the materials referenced just yet. As another poster said, this is just completely surreal. No matter what happened, who is or isn’t guilty or innocent, sane or insane, all I can think is that Satan is having a field day. Confusion is the specialty of the Father of Lies and the Prince of Darkness. I’ve no desire, never did, to follow Fr. Corapi as some kind of a cult figure. I enjoyed his show on EWTN. I’m just an ordinary sad Catholic woman who wishes whatever went wrong hadn’t.

He is honest, however, about “certain” bishops (which he did not name) who made a precipitous decision to destroy him without proof and without a complete investigation.
That is part of the problem. A claim like that is scandalous, especially without giving solid evidence to support the accusation.

According to his superior, they couldn’t do a complete investigation because he filed the civil lawsuit. If the unamed bishop told him to file the lawsuit to keep the investigators from gathering information, then he should have ignored the advice.

I have been a fan of Fr. Corapi, but this turn troubles me greatly.

Peace

Tim

Many of us, have for years respected Fr Corapi. I was never that big of fan, but he always seemed to appeal to women more than men. But I certainly respected him and agreed with most of what I heard him say. Defending him is difficult, without calling into question the integrity of a the Bishop of Corpus Christi (who, by most accounts seems to be a good bishop) and Fr Corapi’s superior in his religious order. I do not like his statement from the other day or recording from today, as it leaves us in this uncharitable situation.

It seems best to be silent on the whole situation. Pray for all involved.

And you held that against Fr. Corapi? Why? Is he now responsible for what others say? Why does the heretic get a pass in your mind?

He said that the Church never helped him. I have seen this before, not the Church but my own employer.
Me too, but

(1) that is not the reason I’m supportive of Corapi. (I had actually forgotten about this in my own life until you mentioned it, sedonaman.)

(2) for me, my employer and the Church were one and the same. I was fired on two, count them two, slanderous accusations. One was from a jealous co-worker, who later (after I was fired) retracted her false accusation, too late; the other was from someone who cannot understand English well, accused me of saying exactly the opposite of what I said; and no one gave me a hearing. They fired me first, then “listened” to me. And even when they discovered that I was right and they were wrong, no reversal of the decision was even considered.
Inquisition, much?

Corapi’s story is completely believable. Been there, done that. Also seen that (for others). Pastors are not trained as HR people; most of them have little to no management training of any kind, period, let alone actual practice managing people, unless this is their second career and they are coming from a business environment. It used to be that such training was completely absent from diocesan & other religious training. Now it’s token, and only token, and that training does not apply to the overwhelming number of bishops in authority right now, nor even to the overwhelming number of currently active priests, who never did receive such training.

If you are wrongly, falsely accused of any wrongdoing in a Catholic setting, or performing Catholic functions of any kind, it will be an accident if you are treated justly. What I mean by that is that it will depend on the wisdom, sensitivity level, and knowledge base of your superior(s) as to whether you are assumed “guilty,” or whether there is any objectivity whatsoever being used to evaluate you. I’m convinced that there are some such enlightened clerical supervisors in the Church; but unfortunately such understanding of human interaction appears still to be quite lagging in the religious workplace. I have no way to compare this with other faith traditions; I don’t know if their practices are any more enlightened either.

And my situation had zero to do with anything sexual, or even anything in the moral area whatsoever. It was one person’s jealous word against mine, and another person’s illiterate word against mine. No inquiry whatsoever. Way to go managing people.

So you can imagine, what with public outcry over the last 15 years, how a false sexual accusation could be even more vulnerable to a lack of equal justice for both sides.

Code:
I hold nothing against John Corapi. He is a human being just as I am.
Something just left me feeling uneasy when I heard him say that.Yes,I know that would never hold up in a court of law. 😉 I wish nothing but the best for him.

I really don’t know what to say except that I am deeply dissappointed about the whole thing. I wonder if priests realise how much damage they can do to the faithful?

I think honestly he should not be saying those things on public radio. It just stirs people up. …
It is supposed to stir people up. Are the faithful suppose to roll over when Satan infiltrates the Church? As long as no names are mentioned, he’s just doing his job. He once told of a Catholic Church [unnamed] that had a woman on the cross over the altar and crystals in the holy water founts. When asked, the pastor said why these strange things were in the church: “The woman on the cross symbolizes the oppression of women by the church; the crystals were for power because we need all of it we can get.”

So, you don’t think Catholics should know about things like that going on in Christ’s Church?

REMINDER

Gossip and innuendo, disrespect toward clergy and religious, and speculating about what did or did not happen are not part of the mission of this apostolate. This apostolate exists to communicate the Catholic Faith, to provide people with a safe environment where they can learn from each other and enjoy themselves while discussing the faith.

Please limit your discussions to what is indeed public knowledge.
Thank you.

Something just left me feeling uneasy when I heard him say that. …
So it would be OK if I held you responsible for what someone else said, even outside of court?

Many of us, have for years respected Fr Corapi. I was never that big of fan, but he always seemed to appeal to women more than men.
Kind of amusing, since he has always considered himself a ‘man’s man.’ 😃
But I will admit that he respects, admires women greatly – for many personal reasons, such as his mother, and his Mother. 😉 He also sees how much women are living an active spiritual life in the Church.

He’s one of many priests that have caused damage to good priests and the faithful. He’s been given much, and was expected to give much. Just not this.
