Frankly, I would rather blame all this behavior on a brain tumor, but I don’t think it would be that easy.
Yet the long terms effects of alcoholism can be severe -
even when an alcoholic has not been drinking for many years.
Damages can show up later in life that were not obvious in earlier years.

My dad was acting confused and hostile at one point and needed to take an early retirement. I called the doctor to ask what was wrong with my dad…he asked if my dad drank, yes, I said for 23 years of my life…the doctor replied that his brain was shrinking due to the drinking. That is all I know.🤷

Thank you. You’ve explained in a few words
and in one example what could be explained in volumes.

Medical knowledge of the phenomona associated
with these “changed behaviors” is extensive.

That’s a good question. I think more questions remain than are answered. E-mails, if only viewed from the recipient’s PC can be altered. Supposedly, there were some e-mails that “proved” his guilt. The folks doing the investigating weren’t computer experts, by a long shot, from what I could see.
Regardless of whether or not SOLT came to an accurate conclusion, the defense is going to use it to their full advantage. Since he brought the suit the burden falls on him. It will be on him to prove that any evidence she presents is falsified or taken out of context or whatever. Civil court standards are considerably lower than criminal court. It all depends on who is the more convincing of the two. Not knowing all the facts it’s hard to tell who will win, but with this revelation the odds are stacked against him.

I already posted this on the Corapi/SOLT thread but I’ll repost it here. services.saccourt.com/indexsearchnew/CaseNumberList.aspx?SearchValues=CORAPI,JOHN,ANTHONY,3634107
This is a link to John Corapi case from his 1999 DUI conviction (8 years into his priesthood). Sacramento County lists the names John Anthony Corapi and also John Anthony Coradi. Tony Coradi is the alias he used when first meeting his accuser through an escort service. Jimmy Akin has a podcast on his blog page of the Al Kresta show on Ave Maria radio. They go over a little bit of the information SOLT discovered.

I think Jimmy Akin needs to stop this too. What good does this do? I would like you to take this post out so that people don’t continue to speculate on all Corapi’s past and current sins.

You do realize there are people still denying that John Corapi has done anything wrong? That SOLT is not to be believed? These are facts. This is the truth. Some people seem to need cold, hard evidence that members of SOLT are not possessed by Satan (excuse the bit of tongue in cheek there). People need their eyes opened. The fact is John Corapi has been fooling a lot of people of over a very long period of time. 😦 This did not start a few month ago. Not even a few years ago. He has scandalized thousands upon thousands of Catholics. Its time to stop worrying so much about poor John Corapi and start worrying about the damage he’s done to many faithful Catholics.

This is important.

How can people ask Corapi and pray for his repentance if his fans deny it and say “HE IS WITHOUT SIN” " SOLT needs to be questioned! "

1: John 1:10
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

We are seeing the FALSE COMPASSION on display.

Yes, I realize all of that. But this has the flavor of a witch-hunt, and it does no good trying to convince people who are so blind that they liken him to Jesus on the cross! Anyway, digging up even more dirt is unnecessary. His order has recalled him firmly now, and the next move is up to him. Why rub his followers’ nose in his prior sins? I just don’t see that it does any good, and it makes the Church look even worse to outsiders (“See, they protect criminals!”).

A police/court report is not a “speculation”. The contents of a lawsuit are not speculation, either. And although the SOLT may not have “found him guilty”, they have clearly looked at enough evidence to be grossly concerned, and and to be convinced that he is not “fit for ministry”. This is diametrically opposed to his claim that they were forced to place him on leave “against their better judgement”.

John 3:20-21
20 For every one who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does what is true comes to the light, that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been wrought in God.

His misdeeds are all coming into the light. All of our hidden sins will come into the light. All we can do is throw ourselves onto the mercy of God. Better now, than later.

The one thing I have a problem with is some of the Catholic media sensationalizing Corapi’s personal sins. But we can also fault Corapi for inviting the public scrutiny with his Black Sheep Dog, behavior.

So speculating about and discussing the extent of his brain damage is permissible, but not sharing facts of the case, such as the accuser’s words, and public records which back up the SOLT’s findings? There is truth which needs to come out here so that we may all be set free of this painful episode once and for all. Every bit of evidence that comes out here helps us find out who this John Corapi really was, whose supposed example inspired many to strive for holiness and whose pockets filled with the earnings of hard-working faithful people. Our faith is in Christ Jesus, but for many of us, our human examples are found in the saints who were not preserved from original sin or were not dual-natured as Jesus was. In Fr. John Corapi we saw the struggle for sanctification and the power of Christ to lift one from the gutters up to a fullness of life that can only come from The Word. And boy could he preach The Word. He preached beautiful truths. To those of us who are weaker than most, his “example” helped us persevere, not because we lack faith in Jesus, or have no devotion to saints, but because he was right there in the trenches with us. But he really wasn’t, apparently. He was dodging the spiritual draft while we were in the trenches fighting to live out the truths he preached, the truths of Christ. Where did our comrade go, and was he ever with us? He is not a sheepdog. He is a lost (but not irretrievably lost) sheep posing as a shepherd, leaving a flock at risk from the prowling wolf of division and confusion. The Body of Christ is taking a beating over this. We need the truth to come out, the facts, so we can all be on the same page, and praying with one heart. We need to pray this man back into the fold so that we might enjoy the fattened calf with him in Heaven someday.

His post ordination misdeeds would never have entered any scrutiny if he had not decided to make his own case public. I don’t agree that they are not relevant. It demonstrates an ongoing pattern of behavior that has only been exacerbated recently. He decided to fight by the sword, now his reputation is dying by that same sword. My only prayer is that the whole mess will drive him back to the foot of the cross.

He did not want to be silenced, but what will he have to say now that is of value to anyone? If he does have brain damage or is in the grip of addiction, or both, attempting to continue a public speaking career will not work anyway. 🤷

I read a post that a sheepdog does not have a job apart from a shepherd. I think this is very true.

This is what was confusing about Corapi’s Black Sheepdog persona. Did he not realize that the sheep dog is a tool of the shepherd? He does not work on his own! He takes signals from the Master, does what the Master tells him to do, he is trained and he is OBEDIENT to the Master! He is not a renegade, who is guarding the sheep all alone, under his own authority! No sheep dog works without a shepherd! But his messages all seemed to say that HE was the one who was going to guard the flock, no Master needed.

It’s odd to me that someone who calls himself The Black Sheepdog must never have actually watched sheepdogs work. The sheepdog trials used to be televised but I haven’t seen them in quite a while. Corapi’s order is whistling him in - will he come?

Thanks for your thoughts guanophore.

Was it Father Joe’s?

fatherjoe.wordpress.com/2011/06/17/father-corapi-priest-or-black-sheep-dog/
FATHER JOE: The sheep dog has no occupation separated from the chief shepherd or bishop. A dog that runs after the sheep on its own is not a true sheep dog, but rather we use another name for that canine… we call him a wolf. I would suggest that Fr. Corapi change the name of his blog and new label to BLACK WOLF. Indeed, in the future, if he carries out his intent to keep selling his wares and writing and making radio broadcasts, that is what I shall call him
(This was before SOLT’s release --so he was being cautionary and reasonably suspect. He was a little more concerned and troubled, than the later entry)

I like seeing what the priests say as they are able to fraternally correct, or judge better.

I think he has the most reasonable what I read without shying away from speaking hte truth, there were other priests blogs defending Corapi and hoping Fr. Corapi would become political for the sake of the church through a loophole. I didn’t think that sounded too right to me.
