Cop-out! If loneliness is such a huge occasion of sin, then all of the widows and widowers I know should be contacting “escort services.” I have been alone since 1988 and never felt that I should invite a partner to my home to dispel loneliness. One learns to adjust and live with it.

And the single vocation is no different. Loneliness is a simply a battlefield of the mind - not the norm for those called to live a single life, but a temptation that “some” singles occasionally face. These folks are called to conquer and overcome it by God’s grace.
This is well said. It is also a fact that SOLT has been trying to get Corapi to come live with them ever since they were able to purchase a residence in Corpus Cristi. It was his decision to isolate himself that way, and it has not borne good fruit.

As i said earlier (or on a similar thread: forget which): lets wait for the dust to settle! :( Apart from that, though, didnt you notice my reference to a FALLEN comrade?

i`m disgusted by the wolfpack mentality here!
So you think it’s charitable to allow a person to persist in sin? To tell them that they are not sinning, when in fact they are? You think it’s charitable to support them in that sin?

As i said earlier (or on a similar thread: forget which): let`s wait for the dust to settle! 😦
No one can afford to wait for that, most especially Father Corapi. Right now, he is not in his right mind, and needs immediate intervention. It is not charitable to stand around waiting while he walks over the edge of a cliff.

He has been ordered, under obedience, to return to the SOLT house and suffer his suspension from ministry with their support. His refusal to obey is enough, in itself, to warrant that he is not fit for ministry at this time.

SOLT cannot wait for the dust to settle either, because Corapi is misleading the flock by making false statements. This is very damaging, and needs to be addressed publicly, which they have now done.

The flock cannot wait until the dust settles either, because the man is clearly in crisis, and needs intervention. Some people that relapse die if they don’t get it.

I am sure there are some people that are out for blood. I have only run into one of them here, and he was banned. I have been following two threads on this, and some blog entries. I see a majority of people hurt, angry, betrayed and praying their hearts out for the man.

What do you think i meant when i used the words: “FALLEN comrade”? In the context, that means a person who has sinned, and were to help him get back up! Youve misunderstood what i said.

i didnt mean that we should all just stand around, and not pray etc; but we could at least have the decency to stop bashing him! Apart from that: how do you, or anyone else here, know the state of his mind? We dont necessarily know his ultimate reason for doing what he`s doing, either. It may be a lot deeper than most people here realise! And that includes his disobeying his SOLT superior.

Thats very dramatic, isnt it? But, i`m not a mental health expert. 🤷
…praying their hearts out for the man.
That`s all those of us who are on the outside should be doing.

He has no good reason to disobey his superior.

If he has relapsed, then his choices are either sobriety, or death. For an addict, there is no such thing as moderation - the addict is incapable of knowing when he has acquired a light buzz, and to stop at that point. He will either (ultimately) kill himself with his drug of choice with repeated overdosing, or he will detox and get sober.

What if the fallen comrade doesn’t realize he has fallen? What if he doesn’t realize the need to get back up, because he thinks he is still standing?

There’s a difference between bashing someone and saying “You are doing something wrong.”

He has no good reason to disobey his superior.
Amen!

Well, folks, it`s great to see that the rest of you lead such good lives and, apparently, commit only venial sins. It makes me feel like just giving up! 😊

With all of the self-righteous preaching thats been going on here over the past couple of weeks, im sure therell be quite a few CAF members who could take Fr. Corapis place.
I hear and understand what you are saying, Fink.

Also what I hear is that people are disappointed in his lack of obedience at this point, which may be bothering them more than the actually allegations.

The Church has been wounded a great deal in Her history, and the most serious of wounds have come from within. (IE sex abuse scandal etc). This is another wound from within. They are easier to heal when Her people get the sense that at least there is an effort TO heal, and that includes a sense of humility and obedience.

One thing that has struck me in a good way as this has unfolded that many do look to Our Lord, and fall back on what is taught by Him and others in Holy Scriptures. These threads demonstrate that for the most part, we do see Him as THE Shepherd The rest, those in His service.

Coincidentally enough, I just heard an evangelical preacher discuss False Teachers today! He quoted 2nd Peter, and my mouth almost fell open… Here, see what you think. If I have used the wrong translation, please feel free to correct it. This is the NASB version.

2 Peter 2
The Rise of False Prophets
1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; 3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment; 5 and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a [a]preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; 6 and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly lives thereafter; 7 and if He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men 8 (for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds), 9 then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from **temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment, 10 and especially those who [c]indulge the flesh in its corrupt desires and despise authority.

Daring, self-willed, they do not tremble when they revile angelic [d]majesties, 11 whereas angels who are greater in might and power do not bring a reviling judgment against them before the Lord. 12 But these, like unreasoning animals, born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed, reviling where they have no knowledge, will in [e]the destruction of those creatures also be destroyed, 13 suffering wrong as the wages of doing wrong. They count it a pleasure to revel in the daytime. They are stains and blemishes, reveling in their [f]deceptions, as they carouse with you, 14 having eyes full of adultery that never cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having a heart trained in greed, accursed children; 15 forsaking the right way, they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 16 but he received a rebuke for his own transgression, for a mute donkey, speaking with a voice of a man, restrained the madness of the prophet.

17 These are springs without water and mists driven by a storm, for whom the [g]black darkness has been reserved. 18 For speaking out arrogant words of vanity they entice by fleshly desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error, 19 promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved. 20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. 21 For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them. 22 [h]It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “A DOG RETURNS TO ITS OWN VOMIT,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”**

Also, does it not say something very troubling and serious that Corapi AKA The Black Sheepdog is actually allowing the kind of posts that are taking place on his FB pages? He is doing nothing to intervene in the insanity on either his Father Corapi page or the Black Sheepdog page. That tells me that he is indeed, unfit for ministry. I don’t know what SOLT will do next, but this fiasco needs to stop, and stop soon.

If he really is using drugs/alcohol, he could be in blackout periods and if that is the case, he will never remember anything he has done or said during those blackouts. If he really has the serious drug and alcohol past that he has said he has, he is very likely to have those blackouts if he returns to abuse. A blackout is not being passed out. Alcoholics and addicts can still be on their feet and able to “function” while blacked out. Parts of their brain have checked out due to alcohol overload.

I remain very deeply concerned about Corapi and especially his followers. I prayed for all concerned, including the SOLT, at Mass and rosary today. I will continue to pray.

Someone saw a CLEAR problem with Corapi’s operation a year ago. He was verbally beaten because he dared to comment about Corapi in the negative.

forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=474076&highlight=john+corapi+tickets+price

Corapi’s fans were defending the $37.00/person ticket fee to hear Corapi preach because it was cheaper than most rock concerts. Odd comparison to say the least.
Fr. Corapi said he does not charge for speaking at events. If that is true, the event sponsor must have collected and kept the money. He claimed he made his money of of cd/dvd/book sales at events. I have paid $45 for a one day men’s conference (with paid speakers) before, so $37 does not seem out of line to me.

Juliane, that is one verse that kept coming to mind. It was brought up earlier in the SOLT thread.

Here’s a second one from John’s epistle. But Peter & John I guess warn about this. They always say don’t be deceived too.

1 John 2 19-29
They went out from us, but they were not really of our number; if they had been, they would have remained with us.

Nobody is being self righteous or saying “oh I’m more holy than Corapi” And nobody claims to bewhat you said. If this is a response to the above & earlier post of a use another priests homily talking about the misinterpretation “we are all sinners” , that’s not self-righteousness. It’s about unnecessary complacency.

It’s actually so people not be fooled. What was said above is to refute Corapi’s above mention how he says expect priests to fall, they are not transformed after the priesthood. He essentially says GRACE DOES NOTHING, almost like a falls /serious sins are inevitable for priests. Priests may get temptations maybe, but no one can snatch them from God’s hand. This wasn’t the message Fr. Corapi was promoting in the February quote.
People are just having a problem with those who say Corapi is without sin, or hasn’t done anything to scandalize his EWTN fans. WE are also trying to make sense of how we couldn’t have seen his “double life” longer than we realize.

There are many Saintly hermits and mystics that lived a life of solititude.

One was St. Paul in the 2nd/3rd century, he lived past 100. He did penances and prayer I think.

To Fink:

I have seen no one on CAF bashing The Black Sheepdog in any way. People are very troubled by what has happened, and as far as I know, everyone is praying like crazy right now, both for him and for his followers, and his order. I know I am. His appearance, his voice, his writing, and his attitude are more than concerning, they add up to a frightening picture of a priest who is, as his order states, “unfit for ministry.” Yet he still has supporters, even “fans.” Even though Catholics in good standing ought to turn away from any priest, Bishop, etc. who is in disobedience to the Church, some are not, but are choosing instead to ignore the fact that this Black Sheepdog person has ignored a direct command from his order, the SOLT, to stop what he is now doing and return to community. It really doesn’t even matter why they are recalling him. He swore to obey, and he is now breaking that vow in a most public and scandalous manner. If he was speaking against the Pope himself, would his supporters then recognize his rebellious stance? One wonders.

I think it is beyond tragic what is happening to people, to Catholics, who should not be following any priest and especially one in direct rebellion to orders from his own religious community, which has right authority over him.

This was a HUGE red flag. SOMEONE profited and it certainly wasn’t just the venue operator.

Amen. What concerns me the most is not the past but now and the future. This black sheep dog stuff looks like it might well be the product of Satan…
