I LOVE FR. LARRY!! He did a mission at my parish (Immaculate Conception of Dardenne in O’Fallon, MO) a couple of years ago, and I wanted to move to Erie and join his church! (even though I know Catholics aren’t supposed to church shop 😉 ). My dh wasn’t Catholic at the time, but he went with me a couple of nights, and I think it played a big part in his decision to go through RCIA the following fall. What’s funny is that I wasn’t even going to go at first, but then he celebrated the Mass I was at that Sunday (the mission was starting that night), and after hearing his homily I had to go! (I went every night). We have another mission coming up next week w/ 2 Redemptorists priests, and although I’m looking forward to it, I’m kinda afraid they’re not going to be as good as Fr. Larry and It’ll be a let down.

When I first saw this thread, I was excepting some people to like him, but there’s usually at least one person who finds people or thngs either “so so” or they downright hate them. But everyone on the thread loves Fr. Larry, it’s amazing! 😃

I sent an email to Fr. Larry a few days before that mission only to get a reply from him telling me that he would be there. ICD was our old parish and DW and I was able to go to 3 of the 4 nights and even had a chance to meet Fr. Larry. He is an amazing, amazing priest. WOW! I actually ordered his mission on VHS and have watched it a few times. I need to watch it again.
 
I love Fr Richards…he’s awesome! I have the Mary Foundation’s mass cd too…love love love it.
 
I have had the Mass explained CD since last fall with the intention of actually sending it to my sister who has an expressed interest in the church. Well I thought I should listen to it before I pass it on to her – WOW!! – Fr. Larry is only 1 year older than me, and I am jealous of his zeal for the church and for Jesus!! As a convert Scott Hahn was always top of the list, but now Fr. Larry has just blew by him. He pulled things together for the formation of the mass that I have never heard. It was great!

I would have to agree with you that Fr. Larry is one of the most dynamic Catholic speakers out there. Check out his website and you can sign up for free and download his talk called ‘The Truth’ it is awesome. The Reason For Our Hope

You can also buy mp3s of his other talks for $2. He has his homilies on the website as well.
 
I am having my Confirmation Class I review the tape, WHAT MORE COULD HE DO FOR YOU.

I asked them to write down things that they found profound, that that they didn’t know , what questions they might ask …

We got through half of the tape and will finish up at our next class. These kids are about 15 … and I know Fr. will get through to them, at least on some level.

The most profound thing for me (not that I am in your class 😊) was the part when he (Fr. Larry) is talking about Mary’s reaction to Christ’s death and when Fr. Larry talks about her holding him and raising him as a child. Also, the emotion that he displays when someone asks Mary “do you think he loved me?”

I loved the part where he talks about his parents / his dad … and how for 18 years he didn’t love his dad because he wasn’t the dad he thought he should be. He spent all that time Judging him instead of loving him!!!

It always makes me cry!

It was a HUGE shock the first time that I heard that story. My wife was blown away when she heard it. She just could not believe it.

I heard Fr Larry on Ave Maria radio a couple weeks ago doing one of his talks at a local men’s conference. Man, what a guy! Had I known he was so good I would have gone to the conference in person.
 
Hello! First post here, but I just had to mention that Fr. Larry is the pastor of my parish. 😃

I completely agree, he has a great voice! I attended the Divine Mercy service this past Sunday and most of it was “chanted”, and it was awesome!
 
I listen to Fr. Larry’s program “Changed Forever” on Relevant Radio.

He’s so convicting sometimes. I wish we had more priests like him.

Yes, I am! Especially because I was really going through a rough patch in my faith life, and then I met him. Since then, it’s been a complete turnaround.

I’m so glad to see that other people appreciate his talks as much as I do! 😃
 
LOVE his talks!! 👍 HE is so dynamic!! He definitely chose the ‘right’ vocation for himself in life. I think he is my all time favorite priest, he really is an amazing man.😉

That is awesome to hear! Funny how God does that…we are at a point in our lives that we cannot see any light, maybe not even the tunnel and then BAM, http://bestsmileys.com/hitting/19.gif from out of nowhere it hits us, something unexpected and in your case it was Fr. Larry. Now that is getting hit. :rotfl:

Have you gone to any of his missions or talks outside of mass?

Haha, I know! :rotfl:

Yeah, in November I went to a 3-day retreat that he was in charge of (it was SO fun!), and that’s when I first met him (and his dog, Rudy!). I actually hope to work the next retreat since I know he’s going to be working at it again.

A couple weeks ago I went to his “What More Could He Do For You?” talk, which was wonderful even though I’d already seen it once before.

I also get the chance to speak with him somewhat often…I believe the last time was Monday evening.

Have you been to any yourself?
