Fr. Pfleger missed his calling as a door-to-door salesman or a circus clown, that is, ANY profession where he is the center of attention and Christ and His kingdom are only afterthoughts and stage props.

.

Does anybody else see a hint of racism in what Father Pfleger is doing, imitating what he perceives as how Black preachers preach? It’s like white rappers trying to sound black. It makes a mockery of the sacred liturgy as well.

One might say he is Plflagiarizing them.

I agree that he is not only demeaning his own white heritage but demeans his black audience even more. He comes off as a caricature of the Reverend Wright without any cultural authenticity of his own.

In his tirade against Mrs Clinton, he for all appearances seemed ashamed on account of sharing his skin color with her.

Here is a whole different take on this. Father Pfleger’s actions are so ridiculous and the Cardinal granting him an award is so outrageous I believe this could all just be a diversion to keep eyes off of something else going on , behind the scenes, in the archdiocese.

Any comments?
Isn’t this the same Catholic archdiocese that gave Saul Alinksy the support he needed to begin to spread his radical Marxist agenda?

My own impression is that Marxist Liberation Theology is alive and well in Chicago, in spite of the late great Pope JP2 speaking out against this dangerous totally non-Catholic movement.

I think Father Pfleger is a racist. He certainly showed it in his mockery of Hillary Clinton in 2008, and putting down all whites in that “speech” when he said that “she wasn’t the only one crying, there were a whole lot of white people crying.” Totally racist.

Also, if you go to his church’s website, he has an article there entitled, “AS THE MARKET RECOVERS, PLAYING FIELD LOOKS THE SAME AND IS STILL UNEQUAL.” He ends the article with this statement: “It’s 2010 but the same old story, white men rule!” If that statement isn’t meant to cause racial divide, I don’t know what it is.

A Good Friday Tradition - Seven Different Speakers deliver short homilies based the last statements of Christ spoken while he was on the cross and recorded in the gospels.

This Years Seven Last Words service features guest speakers:

Rev. E. Dewey Smith, Jr.

Rev. Marvin Wiley

Rev. Dr. Renita Weems

Rev. Will Hall

Rev. Dr. Carolyn Ann Knight

Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.

Not one priest or Catholic speaker on there, and lo and behold, look who is listed there - Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., a known racist and America hater.

Cardinal George should be ashamed of himself for giving this priest any kind of award.

Yup! Something else is going on and everyone is in a fluster about Father Pfleger and his antics.

to me, Fr. Pfleger is an embarrassment. whenever i see his name in the news, i moan and wonder what he has said now.

i think he would make a wonderful priest in the Episcopal church. why does he want to create problems within the Catholic church saying that women should be ordained. he obviously does not agree with the teachings of the Catholic church, so why the charade?

Why couldn’t he be a caricature of the numerous other black pastors in Chicago, both Protestant and Catholic? Rev. Wright happens to be retired but folks are still swinging his name around like a dead cat. More to the point, why can’t Father Pfleger preach the way he wants to? I’ve been to weddings and funerals where he presided and I haven’t been demeaned yet. Of course, folks outside of Chicago may know better, them never coming within a rifle shot of St. Sabina’s.

If you think Rev. Pfleger’s rhetoric sounds black, you should hear his choir! They sing gospel.

The problem is more than just his style. He is preaching dissent. I just watched a video where he says among other things that he doesn’t need the pope. He is very misleading when he goes into his speech about Jesus giving us the keyes and the power to bind and loose. This is distortion of church teaching. youtube.com/user/nowyoucanseeit

P.S.
I like gospel music. I dislike dissent from Church teaching.

Ah, well…

What struck me was this part. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t he presenting a red herring argument here? Saving children and stopping violence isn’t the issue at hand.

“Father Michael Pfleger Sunday, I mentioned in my Sermon that I believe in married Priests and Woman Priests. I was then told that I had to apologize for saying it durning a Sermon because that is not allowed, even though that is my opinion. I have received much hate from the right-winged who want my removal. Amazing… Nobody Blogged me or youtubed me about helping Save our children or Stopping the Violence…

Directly from his facebook page, absolutely no liberties taken. The quote and context seem spot on accurate to me.
Father Pfleger is like Father Conklin, the radical “radio priest” of the '30s. Except that finally Fr. Conklin sat down and shut up. Back in the '50s I knew a LaSalette priest from Detroit who knew Conklin. The LaSalette priest said that Conklin absolutely refused to say a word about politics.

In wartime you can be shot for treason and cowardice and giving aid and comfort to the enemy. Well, the Church is at war with the powers and principalities of Satan. The Church is under attack by the armies of the Adversary. All true Catholics must join in this fight, especially Her Priests. Those who do not, are guilty of treason and giving aid and comfort to the enemy. If you cannot support Her, then leave Her, “dissenters” especially. The sheep are being separated from the goats. Goat or sheep, which will you be?

I gotta tell you that people outside of Chicago make much more of this supposed ‘embarrassment’ than folks who live here.
Makes me feel all the better about my own origins. Makes me sad about Chicago, though. Maybe there’s at least one or two righteous men who live there?

…I posted prior to finishing and I must…he should move on and I am sure President Obama has a spot for him on his staff…
Exactly. i just dont understand why is this man still in the Church. hasnt he done enough damage yet? he is very disfunctional at least. instead he gets an award? what is really going in the Church? my God, my God.

he is sowing confusing and division in teh Church. he is trying to get the people against the Church. can he just go wiht that priest from miami caught in the beach with a woman? isnt he in the episcopal church? why can this guy go there too? i am sure he fits right in just like the other.

where is St Paul and St Peter at these times?

Whatever your feelings are for the actions of Fr. Pfleger, he is still a priest and deserves the respect due his position.
