The French government is anti-clerical – has been since the French Revolution. Anything that disrupts their secular society will not be tolerated. (They also ban “ostentatious displays” of any religious garb, but that is different than this full face veil ban, and that has been in place for almost a decade)

So this is not really a legal precedent, then. What constitutes and “ostentatious display?” Those pink (sorry - rose) colored vestments our priests wear on Laetare Sunday and Gaudete Sunday are about the most ostentatious things I’ve ever seen! 😛 (Apart, that is, from the foofy hats of the Knights of Columbus!)
