No one is suggesting that you can’t speak to Him, or any of the Heavenly family, for that matter!

Best wishes! 👍
I asked my parish priest and he said, no, the Catholic Church does not teach that Mary is the only one who dispenses grace. I scoured the Catechism too and I can find nothing there except the title mediatrix, advocate, benefactress.

God bless

Then he has not excepted understanding of the Roman Catholic Church.

This was a Catholic priest, I take it?

Because Mediatrix of Grace means just that. It is not Dogma yet but is established as recognised truth in the Church and on the CCC and is only a matter of time before this truth is defined as a Dogma.

*'Mary, Mediatrix of All Graces

ewtn.com/faith/teachings/marya4.htm

The CCC also says the same - ‘Mediatrix of Grace’.

Closely related to the Catholic teaching on Mary’s cooperation in the redemption is the teaching that, with through and under her Son, she is Mediatrix of all graces. What exactly does this mean?

The term Mediatrix in itself could refer to either the objective redemption (the once-for-all earning a title to grace for all men), to the subjective redemption (the distribution of this grace to individual men), or to both. It is most usual to use it to refer only to subjective redemption, i.e. , the process of giving out the fruits of the objective redemption, throughout all centuries. We must consider whether or not the term Mediatrix applies to all graces or only to some. We will ask also about the nature of the mediation: is it only by way of intercession, that is, does Mary simply pray to her Son that he may give us grace, or does God also use her as an instrument in distributing grace.

To begin, we can say without doubt that the title “Mediatrix” is justified, and applies to all graces for certain, by her cooperation in acquiring all graces on Calvary.

The Second Vatican Council (Lumen gentium ## 61-62), said:

… in suffering with Him as He died on the cross, she cooperated in the work of the Savior, in an altogether singular way, by obedience, faith, hope, and burning love, to restore supernatural life to souls. As a result she is our Mother in the order of grace.

This motherhood of Mary in the economy of grace lasts without interruption, from the consent which she gave in faith at the annunciation, and which she unhesitatingly bore with under the cross, even to the perpetual consummation of all the elect. For after being assumed into heaven, she has not put aside this saving function, but by her manifold intercession, she continues to win the gifts of eternal salvation for us. By her motherly love, she takes care of the brothers of her Son who are still in pilgrimage and in dangers and difficulties, until they be led through to the happy fatherland. For this reason, the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Auxiliatrix, Adiutrix, and Mediatrix. This however it to be so understood that it takes nothing away, or adds nothing to the dignity and efficacy of Christ the one Mediator. For no creature can ever be put on the same level with the Incarnate Word and Redeemer…"

We notice that Vatican II did not add the words “of all graces.” However, as many papal texts point out, Mary’s role in dispensation flows logically from her role in acquiring all graces. Further, the Council itself added a note on the above passage, in which it refers us to the texts of Leo XIII, Adiutricem populi, St. Pius X, Ad diem illum, Pius XI, Miserentissimus Redemptor, and Pius XII, Radiomessage to Fatima.

Leo XIII, in the text referred to, spoke of her, as we saw above, as having “practically limitless power.” St. Pius X said she was the "dispensatrix of all the gifts, and is the “neck” connecting the Head of the Mystical Body to the Members. But all power flows through the neck. Pius XII said “Her kingdom is as vast as that of her Son and God, since nothing is excluded from her dominion.” These and many other texts speak in varied ways of Mary as Mediatrix of all graces, so often that the teaching has become infallible.

Objection

Protestants object to this…’* etc…!

*'In Pope John Paul Id’s Wednesday audience of October 1, 1997, the Pope addressed this very issue:

"Mary’s maternal mediation does not obscure the unique and perfect mediation of Christ. Indeed, after calling Mary ‘Mediatrix’, the Council is careful to explain that this ‘neither takes away anything from nor adds anything to the dignity and efficacy of Christ the one Mediator’ (Lumen gentian, n.62)…In addition, the Council states that ‘Mary’s function as Mother of men in no way obscures or diminishes this unique mediation of Christ, but rather shows its power’ (Lumen gentian, n.60). "Therefore, far from being an obstacle to the exercise of Christ’s unique mediation, Mary instead highlights its fruitfulness and efficacy…In proclaiming Christ the one mediator (cf. 1 Tim 2:5-6), the text of St. Paul’s Letter to Timothy excludes any other parallel mediation, but not subordinate mediation. In fact, before emphasizing the one exclusive mediation of Christ, the author urges ‘that supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be made for all men’ (2:1). Are not prayers a form of mediation?’…*

'** What does the Magisterium of the Church think of the proposal for this Dogma?

There have not been any official statements in the magisterium of the present Pontiff specifically referring to if or when he will declare this Dogma, nor should we expect such a statement until the Vicar of Christ is ready to make one. Yet, the Holy Father’s very extensive catecheses on Marian coredemption, mediation, and advocacy gives to those proposing the Dogma the encouragement and the impetus to continue their efforts in having these selfsame Marian prerogatives defined as dogma. In fact, the Christian faithful are encouraged by the Holy Father to continue their role in the progress of Marian doctrine:

“Mariology is a particular field of theological research: in it the Christian people’s love for Mary intuited, frequently in anticipation, certain aspects of the mystery of the Blessed Virgin, calling the attention of theologians and pastors to them…As Mariology develops, the particular role of the Christian people emerges. They co-operate, by the affirmation and witness of their faith, in the progress of Marian doctrine, which normally is not only the work of theologians, even if their task is indispensable to deepening and clearly explaining the datum of the faith and the Christian experience itself” (Pope John Paul II, L’Osservatore Romano, weekly English edition, 15 November 1995, p. 11).’*…

What is the urgency for this Dogma?

The Dogma will clarify and define the content of the Catholic Faith, especially as the ordinary magisterial teachings on Mary Coredemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate are currently being undermined in certain quarters within the Church. The contemporary frenzy of media misinformation in the Catholic press regarding these roles manifest the dire need for the papal definition. The definition of any dogma is accompanied by an outpouring of God’s grace, of which the Church and the world today are sorely in need. The late Mother Teresa of Calcutta wrote: “The papal definition of Mary as Coredemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate will bring great graces to the Church.”’*

Maybe you could share these articles to with your point of contact. I have no idea what your issue is with this revealed truth.

As I said before, if you do have an issue with this amazing truth, then read Catholic material, as this reading will then help you to understand. If you are active on this forum then you are online - there are plenty of insightful documents on the subject.

All the best.

She can mediate all types of graces yet Mary is not the only one.We can pray for intercession and grace to any saint. In addition special graces called charisms are given to believers to build up the Church and those are from the Holy Spirit. Are you going to tell me that the Holy Spirit has to ask Mary who to give charisms to??

I asked my parish priest also about the 5th marian dogma and he does not see it ever being declared. If St John Paul 2 ,who was a very marian pope, did not declare it I see no pope ever in the future doing so.It is just way too confusing not only for Catholics but our Protestant brothers.

catholic.com/blog/tim-staples/one-mediator-between-god-and-men

according to this Catholic answers apologist ALL of the body can mediate grace. We are all mediators in a sense but that does not take away from Jesus Christ being the one mediator between God and men.

I am not telling you anything. The Church is sharing this with you.

Our Lady is the Spouse of the Holy Spirit. Our Lady is Full of Grace.

The Holy Spirit of one of three persons of the Holy Trinity - the Author of Life. Our Lady’s powers as Mediatrix are in and from this same Trinity, to whom our Creator chose her as Mother, Spouse and Immaculately Conceived Daughter, for Himself, and to be Mother to us.

Our Lady is the Queen of Saints. This is the order of grace. The saints intercede for us and Our Lady the Mediatrix of Grace dispenses it. She is inseparable from her Son.

Read Catholic material, seriously. There is so much out there. I don’t need to tell you anything.

Fortunately, Church revelation and teaching is not reliant on what protestants find hard to get their minds around.

But I believe it will be. One only has to look at how the Popes view Our Lady and it then seems very likely.

*'Pope Benedict Invokes “Mediatrix of All Graces” at End of his Pontificate

Published on February 21, 2013 by Dr. Mark Miravalle in General Mariology

On that historic day of February 11, 2013 when Pope Benedict announced his resignation, the Vatican gave public release to an official letter written by the Holy Father in which he made another historic contribution: this time in honor of his Mother.

In a Latin letter dated January 10, 2013, in which the Pope designates Archbishop Zygmunt Zimowski (President of the Pontifical Council for Health Pastoral Care) as his representative for the February 11 2013 World Day of the Sick Celebration, Benedict XVI invokes Mary as the “Mediatrix of all graces” (Mediatricis omnium gratiarum). In doing so, the Holy Father continues a consistent line of explicit papal teaching of this Marian doctrine which goes back for over two centuries.

It is significant that Pope Benedict’s reference to Mary as the Mediatrix of all graces would be released on the very day that he would shock the world with his historic resignation announcement. Although it was the Holy Father’s first use of the Mediatrix of all graces term, it was not his first time to teach the Mediatrix of all graces doctrine.

On May 11, 2007 at the canonization of the Brazilian Franciscan, Fr. Antonio de Sant’ana Galvao, O.F.M., Pope Benedict used a formulation regarding the “necessary” role of Mary’s mediating of all graces that reminds one great Marian authors such as St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort, or St. Maximilian Kolbe: “There is no fruit of grace in the history of salvation that does not have as its necessary instrument the mediation of Our Lady.” The Pontiff reiterates this Marian doctrine when he continues: “Let us give thanks to God the Father, to God the Son, to God the Holy Spirit from whom, through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, we receive all the blessings from heaven.” (Benedict XVI, Homily of Canonization, May 11, 2007, n. 5).

Some news commentary on Pope Benedict’s momentous Marian reference may have given the impression that the doctrine and title of Mediatrix of all graces had not been taught by any pope since the time before the Second Vatican Council. While it is true that the Marian doctrine had been officially and consistently taught by the popes from the late 18th century up to the time of Vatican II, it is also true that Blessed John Paul II repeatedly referred to the Mother of Jesus as the “Mediatrix of all graces” and has prolifically taught the doctrine of Our Lady’s “Maternal Mediation” throughout his extraordinary Marian pontificate.

Here are a few examples (among numerous others) of the popes before Vatican II who officially taught the doctrine of the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Mediatrix of all graces:

Benedict XIV: Mary is like “a celestial stream through which the flow of all graces and gifts reach [us]” (1750)

Pius VII: “Dispensatrix of all graces” (1806)

Pius IX: “For God has committed to Mary the treasury of all good things, in order that everyone may know that through her are obtained every hope, every grace, and all salvation.” (Ineffabilis Deus, 1854).

Leo XIII: “It is right to say that nothing of all of the immense treasury of every grace which the Lord accumulate –nothing is imparted to us except through Mary…(Encyclical, Octobri mense, 1891).

Saint Pius X: “Fromthis union of will and suffering between Christ and **Mary‘she merited to become most worthily the reparatrix of the lost world’ and dispensatrix of all the gifts that our Savior purchased for us by his death and by his blood **(Ad Diem Illum, February 2, 1904).

Pius XII: **He, the Son of God, gave His heavenly Mother a share in His glory, His majesty, His kingship; because, associated as Mother and Minister to the King of martyrs in the ineffable work of man’s Redemption, she is likewise associated with Him forever, with power so to speak infinite, in the distribution of the graces which flow from the Redemption *(Radio Message of 13 May 1946 on the occasion of the crowning of the statue of Our Lady of Fatima).’

The rest of the article is found at the top of my post when following the link.

Think I’ll go with Pope Benedict XVI on this one, if you don’t mind! 👍 And the saints, and basically nearly everyone saintly who is Roman Catholic.

Why don’t you start trying to get your head around it now so that if the beautiful and wonderous knowledge of Our Lady does become dogma you are not playing catchup. Sometimes it is easier to go with the tide than fighting against it needlessly and to no avail.

Yes,and that makes US the mediators of grace! We are too friardchips! Isnt that awesome that God gives graces through us.The whole body can mediate grace.

I also heard about some saying Mary is part of the Trinity, but I asked a Carmelite and he said absolutely not. I heard it on relevant radio too that Mary is the 4th person of the Trinity! That would make her a goddess and she is not. She is our Mother though.

The catechism says that the HOly Spirit and not Mary bestows charisms, which are special graces. It is impossible that Mary is the only one who can distribute or dispense charisms.

This is all nonsense. Never heard it before. Straw man anti-Mary proselytizing is to be steered clear of. I’m simply not interested. If you want to learn then the info. is there.

Friarchips, what you are stating about Mary being the only one who can give graces is NOT in the catechism.I looked and looked and though it calls her a Mediatrix it also means WE are mediators too in a sense. When we pray for another we mediate grace.

I am by no means “anti Mary”! She is the most loving humble woman ever! She is our mother. We all can mediate grace as we are all part of the body.

All saints share the beatific vision and are powerful intercessors AND mediators. The Church Triumphant and the Church Militant both pray.

The Church teaches that there are special graces called charisms that are given by the HOLY SPIRIT.Those graces are not mediated by any other and given directly by God.

cjforj…I go with solid Catholic teaching. This is good enough for me.

No one doubts the intercessory power of the saints. But all blessings flow through Our Lady. This is what Advocate to our Saviour and Mediatrix of Grace means.

End of subject, as far as I am concerned.

If you want to complain you’ll have to do this to and with someone else.

All the best. 👍

You have a faulty understanding of what grace is. Read this catechism entry to better understand the true church teachings.

the grace of Christ is the gratuitous gift that God makes to us of his own life, infused BY THE HOLY SPIRITt into our soul to heal it of sin and to sanctify it. It is the sanctifying or deifying grace received in Baptism. It is in us the source of the work of sanctification:48
Therefore if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come

Do you realize that Blake was a gnostic and was making fun of Christianity? I have studied him briefly and can understand why his art is so disturbing and not at all pleasing to the eye or soul. I cannot imagine what his philosophy would do to a soul…

Blake appeared to be channeling fallen angels who he claimed gave him his inspiration.Perhaps the same one Crowley and Blavatsky channeled?

I am not much into art though I went to a Chicago art museum once. It was interesting but much of the art was dark and depressing…

Still like your advice about not worrying too much about apocalyptic stuff and conspiracies which abound on the internet.

“right on” that William Blake was influenced by spirits?
“right on” that some art is dark and depressing or
“right on”,we should not worry too much about conspiracies and apocalyptic prophecy?

I’ve heard about that and had received so much consolation from pondering about the end of the world from our lady’s apparition. Deep peace and joy.
