How come the church does not not talk about dangers of being a member of the Freemasons? Why is this not being adressed?

Wrong answer.I think it is a grey area.
The freemasons (of today, in Amercia) are not an “evil” group. They are Chrisitian, just not Catholic. They do have some oaths they ask their members to take, but none of them go against Church teaching (outright).
Personally, I think if you are looking for a fraternial order there’s always the KoC. But the Freemason’s aren’t something to be “warned” against.

The Barrister said:Wrong answer.
From Catholic Answers:
"Freemasonry is incompatible with the Catholic faith. Freemasonry teaches a naturalistic religion that espouses indifferentism, the position that a person can be equally pleasing to God while remaining in any religion…
**The Church has imposed the penalty of excommunication on Catholics who become Freemasons. **The penalty of excommunication for joining the Masonic Lodge was explicit in the 1917 code of canon law (canon 2335), and it is implicit in the 1983 code (canon 1374).
Because the revised code of canon law is not explicit on this point, some drew the mistaken conclusion that the Church’s prohibition of Freemasonry had been dropped. As a result of this confusion, shortly before the 1983 code was promulgated, the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith issued a statement indicating that the penalty was still in force. This statement was dated November 26, 1983 and may be found in 13/27 (Nov. 15, 1983), 450."
If you are Catholic, please be careful in your responses!

Actually, you’re wrong, Lider. The Roman Catholic Church officially forbids their members to join the Freemasons under penalties up to and including Excommunication, as Bishop Bruskewicz showed in Lincoln several years ago.
Are Masons anti-Catholic? Some may be, but that would be a personal problem, not an official Grand Lodge position.
Do Catholics join Lodges, in defiance of Church position? Sure. Just like they use birth control.
Does the Catholic Church hate Masons? Yes, they do.
Your first part of the answer is the right route to take.Personally, I think if you are looking for a fraternial order there’s always the KoC. But the Freemason’s aren’t something to be “warned” against.
Boy are you being decieved. Freemasons serve the wrong master. You can only serve one.I think it is a grey area.

Its the spirit behind it thats evil, not the person.I respectuflly withdraw PART of my answer.
This is a question I had asked a priest. And the grey area answer is the one I got from him.
I do still hold that the Freemason (of today, in America) are not “evil”.

I’m an ACTIVE 4th degree member of the KofC and nothing was ever said about Freemasonry being forbidden. As a matter of fact, I was the one who did most of the ‘warning’.… Anyone joing the KofC quickly learns that Freemasonry is forbidden …
Can you please expand on how Freemasonry is responsible for the American Revolution? I’m not disagreeing with you but I never heard of that before and would like to hear more about it.… Freemasonry is evil and has been the cause of most wars since 1738. Some of the wars would include the French Revolution, The American Revolution, the War of 1848, The overthrow of the Papal States, World War I and probably World War II. …
When you get your *fifth * degree you’re eligible for training as a Jesuit Assassin. I completed my training last year. Our goal as Jesuit Assassins in the Holy Order of St. Michael’s Warriors is the eradication of a certain secular organization…I’m an ACTIVE 4th degree member of the KofC and nothing was ever said about Freemasonry being forbidden. As a matter of fact, I was the one who did most of the ‘warning’.
Spiri220. Are you still involved in Masonry? One other question for you. There is a bible on the desk [alter]. Is that Bible opened and read to its members.Do you ever mention the name of Jesus Christ in reading of the Bible to the membership?Well, I apparently wandered into the wrong place. In the interest of not being banned, I will now leave.
BTW, Barrister, I’m a Past Worshipful Master, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, as well as a Former Catholic. The “not high enough” line is hooey used to excuse grandpa and uncle zeke’s membership by Anti-Masons.
If anyone has an actual question, I may respond. Going to rabid anti-Masonic books for unbiased info is like asking Ian Paisley to give you the true facts on Catholicism.
