The shriners also wear amusing hats and drive around in little clown cars in parades.

I saw them in a parade last year and only one looked like he was younger than me (61).

There was an age not long ago when fraternal organization were huge- the Freemasons aren’t the only ones declining. Even those that will survive do less “fraternal” kind of stuff. The number of Knights of Columbus halls that have liquor licenses seems to have declined as well.

The small town ones are less worrisome. But a lot of people in power actually are high up Freemasons. The organization is a means for other members to “help eachother out” in all sorts of legal matters especially because there are so many powerful people. There are also some old historical letters from several Freemasons dating back to the 1800s I think it was, speaking of a desire for communism. I think that’s what I would be worried about. Isn’t that their goal anyway, a “utopian” society on earth? Complete opposite of how Catholics think.

All the Shriners hospitals really do a lot of good for kids, that’s for sure.

That’s because manhood has declined - and it’s not men’s fault. Masculinity has been slandered, demonised and ridiculed for decades. Men are portrayed as violent, brain-dead morons. The situation is now so bad that men have embraced the MGTOW movement in droves. It’s a shame they don’t join decent fraternal societies instead.

Freemasonry - incompatible with the faith. Period. Note that many masonic lodges are intentionally located close to parishes or cathedrals. In Rome, I have heard it said, the Masonic cannon is pointed at the Vatican.

They promote “indifferentism” - a belief that one need only be a nice person and need not practice any particular faith. This seems to discard God’s grace and our cooperation with it.
 
It’s funny. The big box home improvement store I have a part time job at employs over 200 people, it is a round the clock operation. One of the top selling department managers is a Mason.

He actively recruits for the masons. He knows I am Catholic, everyone does, as I do passive evangelization so to speak. He and I get along, but of course he has not approached me once about his lodge. He has recruited right in front of me.

I know he is aware of the Catholic / Mason “divide” as I got into a heated argument about Catholicism with one of his pals once. [who was later fired for something unrelated, or simply disappeared.

We are friendly with each other, but we keep our distance from one another. There are many masons in this store due to his efforts. The store manager I am happy to say, is Catholic. All very interesting.

Tell that to the ad I saw on tv. Besides, I am sure the guy at the OP’s work is not doing it in a way that is blatantly recruiting.
 
I know a few Catholics that are Masons. Their affiliations are not secret. A new code of canon law does make the previous canon law irrelevant, as far as what is licit, though it does nothing to change the moral issues addressed. In this case, as been said freemasonry is not compatible with Catholicism.
 
Amen! Freemasonry is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The hospitals is like a badge they wear, to look good.

no, Freemasonry came along long after knighthood and chivalry.

Freemasons don’t have anything to do with the building trades either, just like the Knights of Columbus don’t have anything to do with knights and chivalry.
 
I looked and couldn’t find any ad asking for people to join Freemasonry so I do not believe there is such a video.

I have seen ad’s that include slogans like, “2B1 Ask1” but according to every Grand Lodge online, Mackey’s History, etc. you cannot ‘recruit’ or ask people to join.

I have been asked several times by individual Masons…a couple suggesting how good it is for business. No thanks, I won’t join anything if I can’t find out what it is about before joining. It has its roots in the building of Solomons temple. Hiram, from Abiff, a master mason supposedly murdered one night and came back to life. The new recruit goes through the re-enactment of the murder and resurrection on initiation night.
