Well you might want to come down here and tell him that. I guess he missed the memo.
Actually, freemasonry has its roots in the 16th century in Great Britain. Nothing to do with Solomon or the Holy LandI have been asked several times by individual Masons…a couple suggesting how good it is for business. No thanks, I won’t join anything if I can’t find out what it is about before joining. It has its roots in the building of Solomons temple. Hiram, from Abiff, a master mason supposedly murdered one night and came back to life. The new recruit goes through the re-enactment of the murder and resurrection on initiation night.
Freemasonry has nothing to do with Christianity. The ideology of the organisation is based on religious indifferentism. It teaches that man can be saved without Jesus Christ and his Church. In Catholic nations, it has always operated as organised opposition against the Church. This is why the Catholic Church has constantly spoken out against this sect. If freemasonry was harmless, the Popes would not have consistently condemned it.Actually, freemasonry has its roots in the 16th century in Great Britain. Nothing to do with Solomon or the Holy Land
Well that is very interesting because I have personally had Masons tell me that it is based on what I said …and with the hopeful expectation that it would be acceptable to religious people. I have a book that is written by a former Mason who went through the ranks to the top and he also shares that info.Wannano:![]()

Speaking of which…I know a man in our community very well, and he is Catholic, and even more confusing…he is a Mason. The story doesn’t seem right but I’m sure we can find examples of Catholics acting out of turn or doing something contrary to the Church.
I heard that there was a man in our parish’s Knights of Columbus who was a Mason. He kept trying to get KofC to have get-togethers with the Masons. According to the person I heard this from, the members of KofC weren’t sure if this was allowed, so they went to the priest. The priest took the guy aside and basically explained that he had to choose between the Church and the Masons. Thankfully, the guy chose to remain in communion with the Church. The story doesn’t seem right but I’m sure we can find examples of Catholics acting out of turn or doing something contrary to the Church.

Definitely a better bet!
I don’t claim to be an expert but I have had several conversations with individual Masons. Either you are Freemason or you’re not, there is varying degrees of Masonry. Shriners are all Masons but not all Masons are Shriners, just like all Knights of Columbus are Catholic but not all Catholics are Knights.Which branch of masonry? There are three types that I know about. My paternal grandfather was a Mason and a Shriner before his death in the 1980’s.
Then look again, but if I see you calling Irishmom2 or anyone else in this thread a liar, youll be discussing it with the moderators.I looked and couldn’t find any ad asking for people to join Freemasonry so I do not believe there is such a video.
Ahhh, I just noticed. Both of us are guilty of misreading here. I was not calling WIC a liar, I was calling out WIC for calling someone else a liar. Are you saying he is a liar for saying he cannot find such an ad?
Certainly a clue as to when freemasonry started. If the lodges were started during antiquity at the Solomon temple building, the Church would have commented on it long before 1738.The Catholic Church first prohibited Catholics from membership in Masonic organizations and other secret societies in 1738.
There was a billboard on Josephine St. here in Pittsburgh touting Masonic membership.I wasn’t able to find any Masonic ad asking people to join.
