AP: French church attacker evaded police twice using fake identities, trying to go to Syria.

From the articles, it sounds as though only five were unable to escape. The rest escaped the church before they could be taken hostage.
From what I was reading it sounded like there were only 6 at mass, and only the one nun escaped to raise the alarm. I too had the same reaction that qui est ce had. It was apparently a sparsely attended mass. Which seems an odd thing to thank God for, but it ended up giving these attackers far less potential victims.

So said the priest and Levite–best not to get involved.
This is what I keep thinking of when I hear people trying to justify not helping the refugees.

Incidentally the priest and levite were probably in fear of their lives on that road because of the risk of an ambush. And yet still, their actions were not considered justified.

Only 5 people attended mass? Even our 6:30 AM mass has more.
I counted…there were 15 people at morning Mass (here) today. Given a chance, I’d give my life to save any one of them. We need to continue to go to Mass and not be afraid. God is greater than our fears.

Praying for all those closely involved at the church in France

I don’t think a priest would be armed while celebrating Mass.

Perhaps armed security which I would hate to see. I think I read the fwo attackers entered through a back entrance.
I know at least one priest who does conceal carry at Mass.

When we lived in Indiana our parish priest asked all men who carry to please do so at Mass at a men’s retreat we were on.

I read something on a blog (haven’t seen it elsewhere) that these attackers had ties to the Bataclan jihadists.

Attacking an elderly priest and defenseless nuns shows that these ISIS “fighters” are nothing but COWARDS.
No, it shows that they are Muslims practicing what the Prophet (PBUH) has told them to do. As non-Muslims, the people in the church were *dhimmi *-- slaves. As those who worship a false God and are unrepentant (i.e., they won’t convert) they are to be cut down where they stand.

And was allowed unsupervised freedom as part of his bail agreement. Had this man been in jail, Fr Jacques might still be alive.

Pray also for the religious sister in critical condition.

Jesus said " Concern not yourself with the wicked, for vengeance is mine says the Lord."

What I can’t find out from any report, is if the murder occurred before or after the consecration.

Being murdered before the altar is bad enough, but if it occurred after the consecration, then this martyr’s blood was mingled with the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus.

I hope and pray that the local bishop insists on proper treatment (if the material has been consecrated) of the material during the police investigation. I imagine it will be at least a week before the sacred space and the altar can be re-consecrated.

Just taught my grandchild that this morning in preparation for first Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Simply: It isn’t Christ-like to get even or even think/feel it in the heart.
Love and forgive

This is terrible news. Requiescat in pace. May God save us from ISIS.

Anyone remember this 8/2014 warning?
Iraqi bishop warns that West will suffer from Islamism
catholicnewsagency.com/news/iraqi-bishop-warns-that-west-will-suffer-from-islamism-19159/
“Our sufferings today are the prelude of those you, Europeans and Western Christians, will also suffer in the near future,” Archbishop Emil Nona told Italian daily Corriere della Sera Aug. 9 from Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan.
Archbishop Nona appealed to western media to “try to understand us.”
“Your liberal and democratic principles are worth nothing here. You must consider again our reality in the Middle East, because you are welcoming in your countries an ever growing number of Muslims. Also you are in danger. You must take strong and courageous decisions, even at the cost of contradicting your principles.”
“You think all men are equal, but that is not true: Islam does not say that all men are equal. Your values are not their values.”
“If you do not understand this soon enough, you will become the victims of the enemy you have welcomed in your home.”

So it’s even further sacrilege! This is not even an offense against men, it’s one against God (though murder also is, but this is more direct).

And democrats will say that they are “social justice warriors” and “innocent refugees” and that the “bad Christians” were doing something incorrectly.
Why would any Democrat say that a pair of French citizens one of whom was convicted of being a terrorist already were “innocent refugees”?

I just answered my own question. BBC Word News just carried a translation of the interview the nun who escaped gave. According to her, the murderers entered the church as the priest was genuflecting on the altar. The priest only genuflects like this at the altar after the Consecration, since the King is now on His Throne.

Given the amount of arterial spray that would have come from having the priest’s throat cut, it’s safe to say that the priest’s blood mingled with the Precious Body and Blood. This mingling is something usually associated with Satanic Black Masses; and so a great Satanic sacrilege has occurred.

Jesus, please forgive the murderers who have grievously offended You.

I agree. I went to the Holy Land in 2014. Some people thought I was crazy. My feelings were we are all going to die, what a place to go!
