I’m asking out of ignorance. Be charitable.
But what’s the deal?
I hear about FSSP, SSPX and I’m sure there are other acronyms (which ones have I missed?) What are they all about and what do I, as an obedient Roman Catholic need to know? I mean, can anyone provide a brief, concise explanation of what these various organizations/societies/fraternaties are about from an obedient Roman Catholic perspective?
Obedient to Rome?
In communion with Rome?
What is their general purpose or mission?
Sacraments OK and efficacious?
What else do I need to know?
I would like to go to an old fashioned Latin Mass but not to the point where I will go anywhere near anything which claims to be the only true church or the official remnant church or claims that the Second Vatican Council is the work of Satan therefor the Holy Father is not the real Holy Father or teaches anything contrary to the Catholic faith.
I don’t want to touch anything with the proverbial ninety nine and a half foot pole which aint kosher, know what I mean?.
Without throwing accusations around and getting all emotional, can anyone explain in plain english what the deal is and what I would want to stay away from?
