Ok, so I’ve been a big fan of the History Channel.
Recently, I heard Fr. Mitch Pacwa make a comment along the lines that the HC was anti-Christian and especially anti-Catholic. I then started listening more carefully, and completely agree with him.
So tonight, I’m watching “The Last Days” on the HC, and they are listing the “greatest threats to mankind”.
Not surprisingly, global warming is NUMBER ONE!
This is more of a threat than some bacteria gone awry, or nuclear war? They actually listed it that way…
Anyway, a couple of things fumed me:
They showed a couple of clips of scientists (all interviewed on Fox News) saying that they don’t believe in global warming, or weren’t convinced that global warming was caused by humans. EACH VIDEO OF FOX NEWS OR THE DISSENTING OPINION WAS DONE IN “GRAINY” FOOTAGE.
Now, that’s not an accident. It’s a subtle attempt to caricature these views as “crazy”. Do you think they couldn’t get HD footage from Fox?
Next, they roll out Al Gore (of course in pristine HD) who declares that the global warming debate is over (funny, I never even saw any debate…).
Then, either Al or someone else made the comment that "of course there are scientists who do not believe in global warming, just as (get this) THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DENY THE HOLOCAUST!!!
Now I’m sorry for yelling, and I hope I didn’t post this in the wrong forum, but I’m so ticked off I can’t stand it.
This isn’t a thread to debate global warming, but it is a thread to debate the credibility of the History Channel.
Is it just me, or should history be, well, historically accurate?
Should a documentary show both sides equally?
I’m going to go watch the next show in their lineup, which, I’m sure will be about how the Catholic Church is, undeniably the Whore of Babylon and will seat the anti-Christ as the next pope and take over the world…
Or, it may be about the fact that all of Christianity is based on pagan beliefs, or maybe they will just run the whole Zeitgeist movie…
