I suspect this is a myth. I’ll start paying close attention to our dogs, but I’m pretty sure they break that rule every day …

The soviets actually were the first ones to put a gun on a spacecraft. It was actually used back in 1974-76? shortly before decommissioning to see what if they shot a defunct satellite. Result? LOTS and LOTS of debris. Also, when the U.S Space shuttle was first shown the soviets panicked, thinking it could be armed ( It never was) SO they made a soviet armed space shuttle. Armaments classified but suggested to be “enormous”
