Furious President Obama summons Gen. Stanley McChrystal to D.C

Only the poster knows about how furious President Obama is, because President Obama never made any public statement. I quess the poster has a hotline to the President’s office?

Well gee, I thought Obama was furious because, well that’s what the title of the thread said…

It just looks odd to say God Bless. Jesus I trust in you Love Dawn after such an uncharitable post. Even if you don’t like the French, they are still God’s children.

Second, you are correct, the French ARE pretty nasty. The French ARE the most rude people I’ve ever had to serve (on an airplane) or spend time on their soil.

They’re rude, spit when they talk, and stink. (They may use a bidet at times, but must not have the luxury of the USA of having a bathtub or shower. Or deodorant, for that matters). I know they don’t have the potable water we do (don’t drink it out of the faucet, whatever you do!) You MUST drink out of a bottle!

Just a miserable lot, they are. (But, they have a 4 day work week-you know!)

Their Catholic Churches are empty too, with the exception of some old members, and some tourists. No young French attending Mass regularly.

This gratuitous bashing of the French is one of the most uncharitable posts I’ve seen in a long time. I happen to be the daughter of a French citizen (now American). My mother’s entire family still lives there. Her brother, my uncle, was a priest who was incarcerated in a Nazi prison camp during WWII for being a priest.

My cousins all take baths every single day. They wash their hair every day, and they use deodorant. So do all their friends. One of my cousins teaches English in a Catholic school, which is, by the way paid for by the French taxpayers.

My cousin loves the USA so much, she comes twice a year. Once to visit and travel, and the other to bring her students in an exchange program she started with CATHOLIC high schools in the St Louis area. She brings along fellow teachers. She brings her husband and son, who love the USA too. Her son loves to do WWII military enactments. American ones. They celebrate D-day in American uniform (along with a bottle of fine French wine).

They do have potable water, but, like in Germany, they are used to drinking mineral water.

When our students go to France, they are welcomed by and put up by families in Chartres where she teaches. I have never met such a generous people.

The only nasty remark I heard out of any of the teachers was, “There sure are a lot of obese people in the US.”

Back to our regularly scheduled program.

But that isn’t what you said. You said “Obama is no friend of the left.” What kind of friend would refuse to sign off on leftist policies?

Besides, Obama has expressed support for every leftist policy you want. Again, just because he isn’t screaming from the rooftops doesn’t mean he doesn’t support them.

That is your opinion, and that is nice. There were a lot of soldiers feeling a sigh of relief that the wars created by the previous administration would not be carried into another war front - Iran. I quess you had to be there initially ducking the bullets in Iraq, looking for weapons that started the war and did not exist. I am sure the troops did not feel like tools in the shed when they fought their way into Iraq, losing good men and women along the way - knocked down the front door and found nothing!

I do not think Obama could have handled this any better than he did. He reiterated Civilian control over the military and left McChrystals dignity intact.

Now if the President would “change” his views on support for killing the unborn and on giving extra right for sexual deviants - he may make a solid President.

This is sort of off topic, but I find it interesting that Obama is finally “furious” about something. Why hasn’t he been so impassioned about the oil spill? Or all the people who are out of work? Is it because this has wounded his pride?

I think it’s pretty obvious by now that Obama tries to keep a pretty even keel in public. It also has nothing to do with someone “daring” to critisize him. He’s the President of the country, the leader of the military. As a general he had no right to publicly critisize him. Getting rid of him was the only choice available or else the chain of command breaks down starting at the top.

Choosing the least damaging option out of a very limited set of options does not demonstrate brilliance.

As this story continues to unfold It makes even more sense what the President did was the correct action to take.

I was listening to Geraldo talk about this earlier, he is a centrist I guess, if not a little bit of a leftist.

According to him, this reporter broke the code by quoting locker room talk. Geraldo’s been in the middle of similar situations I’m sure, he said they talk about their wives back home and all sorts of things and there are just some things you do not report.

From what I understand nothing was really bad that McChrystal actually said. It was his staff that made the remarks. Truth hurts I guess, he got an appointment with Obama a lot quicker over this than he did when he was wanting to talk to him about the war awhile back.

Dieu merci, vous pouvez boire l’eau qui sort de votre robinet, que vous avez les prêtres et les paroissiens dans vos Eglises, que vous avez beaucoup de nourriture sur votre table, un toit sur votre tête et des vêtements sur le dos. Peu de temps peut-être bientôt venir où ces choses sont prises loin de nous pour nous ramener à Dieu.

Encore une fois, je m’excuse, il n’a pas été conçu comme une fouille personnelle contre une seule personne, mais mon observation d’un groupe de personnes dans son ensemble qui j’ai passé beaucoup de temps avec. Ne laissez pas un antagonizer dans le forum pour vous convaincre du contraire.

If you don’t speak it or write it well, why go to the effort of getting one of your children to figure out some sort of a translation for you? Use English; that would be the easiest.

As you admit that you don’t speak or write in French well, this applies to you as well.

Stick to English. You do a disservice to those on these threads for whom English is their only language when you attempt to use a foreign language that neither you nor they understand well, if at all. The best way to get something across is to say it in the language you are familiar with. No need to put on airs. Be yourself. That’s the best way!
