Fox News just reported, according to the AP, though not yet confirmed, McChrystal is gone. David Petraeus chosen to replace him.

Oh brother.

When I was in the Navy, the “FRENCH” absolutely hated us. They where emotional, rude, and antagonistic towards the U.S. Navy.

The last time I pulled into port in Toulon France, the French sailors where constantly ganging up on the American Sailors, beating them up, and throwing them out the windows of the bars. Usually about 10 french sailors would gang up on about 4 or 5 Americans.

I know this, because I had to pull Shore Patrol Duty for one night, in Toulon France, and let me tell you, it was truly amazing.

The French are known for their rude behavior. So, perhaps the general has first hand knowledge, (as I do), about the behavior of the French. A little contemptious? So what!
Maybe the French were counterintelligence during World War (Whatever)…but now?

First of all, thank you for your Service to our Country in the US Navy!

Second, you are correct, the French ARE pretty nasty. The French ARE the most rude people I’ve ever had to serve (on an airplane) or spend time on their soil.

They’re rude, spit when they talk, and stink. (They may use a bidet at times, but must not have the luxury of the USA of having a bathtub or shower. Or deodorant, for that matters). I know they don’t have the potable water we do (don’t drink it out of the faucet, whatever you do!) You MUST drink out of a bottle!

Just a miserable lot, they are. (But, they have a 4 day work week-you know!)

Their Catholic Churches are empty too, with the exception of some old members, and some tourists. No young French attending Mass regularly.

Sock le blur!

God Bless.
+Jesus, I Trust In You.
Love, Dawn

Brillant political move by President Obama. McChrystal bordered on being insuborinate and additionally criticized the Commander-In-Chief publically.

Gen. Petraeus will make an excellent replacement.

A sweeping and broad brush statement. Can you provide any documentation for this?

You can’t.
In general, active duty military support Republican candidates.

So it would seem that in general the lack of support in terms of votes means that most active duty military do not think Obama the best man for the job. It may not rise to the level of lack of trust, but it certainly means less trust than having McCain.

However, among veterans, it gets more cloudy.
There is no hard data on that, but the anecdotal evidence is overwhelming.
I know this from all the veterans and active duty people I know. My Lt. Col. buddy extremely dislikes Obama, and thinks him a horrible CiC. My father, a 30 year veteran, extremely disliked Obama. My father’s friend, and 25 year Army veteran, extremely dislikes Obama. My cousin, a senior enlisted in the Navy, extremely dislikes Obama.

I don’t know a single active duty military person that approves of Obama. And only know one veteran that thinks Obama good for domestic policy, but horrible for foreign policy (a mixed bag).

The anecdotal evidence is overwhelming.

He’s talking about now. They may well be our best intelligence source regarding terrorism today.
Just a miserable lot, they are.
Yeah. There’s that girl at Lourdes (for those who believe in such stuff), also René Goupil, and Thérèse of Lisieux as examples. A miserable lot as you say. 🤷

No young French? None at all? You’ve visited all their parishes? Go visit parishes in this country. The older people far outnumber the young.

Your source states “they would need 500,000 troops”, meaning combined US and Afghan sources.

It wasn’t “In September, McChrystal wanted 500,000 more!”.

Then again, you’ve also claimed McChrystal requested more troops “under Bush”, despite the fact that he didn’t take command in Afghanistan until June, 2009.

I don’t think Bush was president then.

They generally support the GOP. Okay. So, naturally they wouldn’t consider Obama or any Democrat the best man for the job, even if he had a mandate from Heaven itself. QED.

You accuse other posters of shifting attention from “pro-life” when that topic is being discussed. Well, well, well. I was speaking of the French Army, and you give two examples that don’t involve the French Army, thus shifting away from my point about them.

I’ll keep that in mind when you criticize someone for diverting attention from “prolife.” 🤷

A blog that has information from a classified document supplied by an independent source. Yeah, right.
More great stuff from PoHuff:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) quickly released a statement: “I am concerned that the resignation of …, commander of all U.S. forces in the Middle East and a military leader with more than three decades of command experience, is yet another example that independence and the frank, open airing of experts’ views are not welcomed in this Administration.”
huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/11/fallon-resigns-as-mideast_n_90998.html

Unfortunately, the name I excluded was Admiral William J. Fallon, who was critical of the Bush Admin in an Esquire article.

The comments are even better!!!

(Did Bush bomb Iran, and I missed it?)

More faux outrage from the left:

thinkprogress.org/2008/03/05/fallon-bush-fire/

(with even MORE great comments about the impeding war with Iran…in 2008)

In summation: Fallon’s criticism was “level headed…a willingness to stand up to the President” And Fallon retiring was an example of “cronyism”

While McChyrstal was merely “insubordination”.

Got hypocrisy?

For the record, I was against Fallon’s and McChyrstal’s resignation. It was a bad move by Bush. It is a bad move by Obama. Accepting McChystal’s resignation will do NOTHING to help the soldiers in the field.

This isn’t RS fault. I don’t like the magazine either, but they are just reporting what they heard. It isn’t the first time in our history that a general shot his mouth off and got in trouble for it. It looks to me that McCrystal must have encouraged this sort of trash talk within his staff and didn’t really care who heard it.

IMHO, McCrystal is going down, and he should. The only questions are how and how fast.
…And RS doesn’t put a leftist slant on anything? Look at the first line when they said he surrounds himself with “killers”.
