To which my teacher replied-not in here it draws flies.

There are no Polack jokes in Poland. BTW, pollock is a kind of fish. The word “Polak” means Pole in Polish.

I just bet you laughed at racial jokes, too. You just don’t get it, do you? 😦

No matter how funny a joke it, it can be terribly insulting to the people who are the butts of those jokes. No matter how many people laugh at them. How about jokes about crippled people or the retarded? Those can be funny, too. 😦
No Rich, I just laugh at myself. I’m proud to be Polish. I call myself a Pollock because the family (my extended family) did as I grew up.

You’re wrong. I don’t make racial jokes. Nor crippled or retarded jokes either.

Kind-of warped to think I would.

The Polish women on my side of the family are all stunningly beautiful women. The men are all over 6’ tall, strong and hard workers. We used to get together and feast, argue and tell Pollock Jokes.

Not racial, crippled or retarded jokes.

I don’t know what would make you think of that. That’s terrible.

God Bless.

I’ve never met Poles who call themselves “polacks.” Others insulted us that way.

Not at all. You insulted the French - ask qui est ce.

So?

Is that what people who call themselves Polish do in Cleveland? Czy pani i rodziny nie mówią w języku polskim?

I charge people to show them how much taxes they owe-quite a racket, Huh!
'Tis. I know CPA’s. Great way to make a living!

Dated a couple of bean counters years ago. One beau stated the CPA was harder than the Bar Exam (he passed both).

I would guess then, you don’t work for a Government-Local, State or Federal?

God Bless.

Ton Francais est tres bien!

I admire your patience with lettering. 👍
Merci!

French doesn’t have too many such letters to deal with. Polish has a bunch of them and it can be painful to do it right, though most people would understand even if the words were missing the diacritical marks.

So, nothing on moveon’s (big Obama supporters) comments about Petraeus in its NYT ad, or the double standard between Admiral William Fallon’s resignation and McChyrstal’s?

Je viens de la Lorraine! La Lorraine n’est pas Allemande!
Je suis fachte, ma amie, mais Lorraine (Lothringen) est Allemande aussi, comme Alsace. “Elsass und Lothringen, ja?”.

(Don’t get offended now, just joking with you. :). Well, partly.)

Okay. qui est ce—Did I call the French “racial” “crippled” or “retarded?”

Rich doesn’t want to answer the questions posed to him-so he points to you, and speaks for you.

I’m not going to waste anymore time with you this afternoon, Rich. I’m not at work-getting paid for this, are you?

I’m heading out for a swim. Back in by 4 to watch Glenn Beck. Then out to ride a couple of horses. Then, swim again, if it’s not storming by then.

au revoir!

God Bless.

Don’t tell that to my mom’s side of the family! That’s an insult. (Never mind her maiden name begins with an “Schl”).😛

Rich, not being French, deferred to me. Maybe you missed my post addressing your post wherein you called the French a dirty, smelly, backwards, atheist, spitting, rude miserable lot .

Other than that she likes them a lot!

Today I accepted Gen. Stanley McChrystal’s resignation. I did so with considerable regret but also with certainty that it is the right thing for our mission in Afghanistan, for our military, and for our country.”

Critically, he said that his decision was not based “on any difference in policy with Gen. McChrystal” nor on “any sense of personal insult.” McChrystal, said Obama, “has always carried out my orders faithfully.”

“I believe it is the right decision for our national security,” Obama said. McChrystal’s conduct as reflected in the *Rolling Stone *article, “does not meet the standard that should be set for a commanding general.” It “undermines” civilian control of the military and “erodes the trust that is necessary for our team to work together to achieve our objectives in Afghanistan.”

I do not think Obama could have handled this any better than he did. He reiterated Civilian control over the military and left McChrystals dignity intact.

I’ll bet that’s right! :rotfl::rotfl: In truth, though, and in deference to your mother’s peoples’ sensibilities, I think Alsace was always more Teutonic than Lorraine. I think, at one time, there wasn’t a dime’s worth of difference between Alsace and Baden, right across the river.

Okay, I’ll say this, then quit. There is, I understand, a saying that Alsace has the best of both countries. You can dine as if in France and wash up afterwards as if in Germany.
😉

They’re probably trying to figure out whether to spell his name “Petraeus” or “Betrayus”. :rotfl::rotfl: I think they have a big problem on their hands.

Oddly enough, nobody is mentioning this on the HuffPo message boards.

How did HuffPo and others on the left react to Admiral William J. Fallon’s resignation after criticizing the Bush admin?
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) quickly released a statement: “I am concerned that the resignation of …, commander of all U.S. forces in the Middle East and a military leader with more than three decades of command experience, is yet another example that independence and the frank, open airing of experts’ views are not welcomed in this Administration.”

Doh! We’ve been over this before.

There’s not a single left-wing agenda item that when passed he would sign with a grin from ear-to-ear. Just because he isn’t at the top of every building bellowing praises for all left-wing causes, you don’t think him a friend. Sorry, but he has frequently, and consistently, expressed support for left-wing causes. That makes him a friend of the left.
We have been over this before.

And that is simply not true.

I agree. I also think Obama made the correct decision.
