Would not draw enough support to win anything and only help the Demo’s

Frankly, I don’t understand why more Democrats don’t support Sanders since he is projected as beating Trump, Rubio, and Cruz, whereas Clinton is projected to beat Trump in the general. But really, as for the general, who knows? We have to get people nominated first, on both sides! 🙂

Now don’t get me wrong. I too believe Hillary is on her way to the nomination and possibly the Presidency vs a Donald Trump. But just regarding the bolded… Oh dear my friend Lily, ye of little Bernie Super Tues faith. 😃

You and Bernie proved me wrong! LOL I’m glad. They just announced that he has definitely won Colorado, too! As well as Vermont and Oklahoma! And leading in Minnesota! It’s close in Massachusetts.

On the Republican side, I sure didn’t expect Rubio to take Minnesota.

The poster you replied to had said, “Most of the Catholics I know are practicing - and solid, progressive Democrats. They voted for Obama and support him to this day. I think that there are many political opinions within US Catholicism; I tend to know the ones who are on the left side of church and national politics.”

The poster then linked to Pew showing by a 7 % margin, a plurality of Catholics, 44% are Democrats or Democratic leaners compared to just 37% of Catholics who are Republicans or Republican leaners.

So are you saying the 44% are not practicing? Or if they are and are Democrats or Democratic leaners in their voting, what are they doing wrong as practicing Catholics?

Yeah my perfect record ended tonight. 🙂 The last I checked, NBC had projected Trump 6. Cruz 2. Rubio was leading MN. So is it now 6-2-1 tonight on the Republican side? Or have VT or CO been called? Kasich giving Trump a run in VT surprised me but probably shouldn’t have. I guess Kasich spent a fairly good amt of time there and like NH, was probably geared more as 1 of the better states for him.

I am saying the validity of Church teaching is not based on the number of Catholics who adhere to it. Been that was since at least Moses time, as the verse shows.

We have a priest in the family and he told me that many Catholic women that have used ABC, when faced with death regret ever doing so and hope for forgiveness. Actually, the pro-life tag is optional to many Catholics and they vote accordingly.

I’m still confused. Because now it sounds to me as if you are suggesting the 44% of Catholics, a plurality of Catholics, who are Democrats or lean Democratic in their voting are not adhering to teaching and therefore are not practicing.

I never said a word about practicing not did I single out Democrats. I am saying, correctly, if you vote for a pro-abortion candidate you are not adhering to the teachings of the Church(unless their opponent is more pro-abortion than they are) no matter how many Catholics do so. Voluminous documentation has been provided in this thread proving this point.

As the verse points out the “everybody does it” excuse was not good then and its not good now.

It seems that the Catholics who attend Mass regularly voted substantially for Romney 59% vs 39%

If we look at Catholic who attend Mass MORE than once a week, the difference is even larger, 63% for Romney vs 39% for Obama

It was only in those who go monthly or less that a majority vote for Obama

.So the less a Catholic practices their Faith, the more likely they were to vote for Obama, and vice versa.

As far as not practicing, the numbers are actually WORSE than what you stated, only about 36% of Catholic regularly attend Sunday Mass

However, only 36 percent of Millennials, approximately 2.7 million individuals, attend Mass at least monthly, compared to 64 percent of pre-Vatican II Catholics

This is not how it is covered in the Voter’s Guide provided by the US bishops. They see abortion as a serious issue that may disqualify a candidate from receiving support from Catholics, but list a variety of other issues of importance to guide the voter. I think it is incorrect to present any Catholic voting for a pro-choice candidate as not adhering to the teachings of the Church.
