The Incest in the Game of Thrones is condemned and punished in the context of the story. A young man will get that.

Anyway, if you prohibit him from watching it in your home, he’ll watch it in other places and just see your attitude as puritanical. It’s better to be open with him as to why you object and let him make his own decision. He’ll end up being open with you on other issues as he gets older. If you shut it down, he’ll shut down what he shares with you in the future.

Like I said, the story is fictional and the sexual content gets less with each new season.

The context of the story is about good conquering evil.

Multiple, incestous sex scenes sounds a lot like porn to me…

por·nog·ra·phy
noun
printed or visual material containing the explicit description or display of sexual organs or activity, intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings.

I say this as a 17 year old boy trying to get the ghoul of porn out of my life… if this young man has already been caught watching porn, GoT certainly won’t help him live a pure life…

There is no upside to porn. Utterly none. It must be resisted in every way possible, as vociferously as possibly, by everyone possible.

Will sexual content help this young man IN ANY WAY become a better Catholic man?

No. The answer is no.

It won’t help him to even consider being Catholic if a puritanical attitude is used toward him.

Parents are entrusted the souls of their children. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF PARENTS TO CORRECT THEIR CHILDREN WHEN THEY ARE IN GRAVE SIN

If parents dont correct their children, who will? The well being of a soul is at stake… Caring for the eternal well being of their son is not puritanical in the slightest

NO it’s definitely pornographic. 🤨 You’ve just become desensitized and now accept it. Also, throwing around the word “puritanical” doesn’t build your case. It demonstrates that you have no basis for your argument. Name calling will not help you here.

There’s a correct way to correct a 16 year old boy’s behavior and a wrong way.

Your way is the wrong way and doesn’t work, trust me.

Jim

I’m 17.

I’m pretty sure I know myself and my peers well enough to know what is effective and what isint.

No it’s not pornographic.

It doesn’t show sex with details.

The most you see is naked breasts.

Guess what, you see this all over the internet and other programs on TV

If you want to blind your teens from this, you’ll have to get rid of the internet and tv

Jim

Let me ask you… If someone had lit themselves on fire, and you could push them into a pool and instantly extinguish the flames, would you ask for permission, or just go ahead and do it?

Because, by your reasoning, saving someones life (or their soul) may be too “Puritanical” for you.

The thing is, I am the same age as the OP’s son. I know what works and what doesn’t.
You didnt grow up in a culture where pornography was incredibly prevalent. I did.
You didnt grow up in a culture that tossed morals out the window. I did.

To dismiss those who know the most about this epidemic of sexual permissiveness that is destroying Milennials as “having a lot to learn” is asinine

Not going to answer you’re crazy hypotheticals.

I have experience raising kids into adulthood.

I’ve also seen parents pushing their teens into religion when I was teaching Confirmation Classes and seen the negative results.

I’ve also seen the positive results of parents who use wisdom with their teens over forced religious values. Their kids end up, not as saints, but based on the good values their parents gave them

Jim

You have a lot to learn

Don’t lecture me about how teens today are different, they’re not.

No point in going with this further.

Have a nice day

God Bless
Jim

But this is not a hypothetical… This young man’s soul is in danger of ETERNAL DEATH

Please, this man’s soul is in no more danger than your own.

Nuff said
Jim

we aren’t, but the culture surrounding us most certainly has

As I stated, she should tell her son why she objects to the program.

However, being puritanical never changes the mind of a 16 year old male.

Jim
Then Dad needs to step in and explain to HIS son why the objectification of women is wrong and why this show is bad.

I fail to understand why HBO must include nudity in these shows they create. It seems to me that the plot of these shows are strong enough without nudity and graphic sex.
