Eyewitnesses to the women state otherwise.
Feeding herself was out of the question, but swallowing food and water was something that she had been doing for some time.
Then why was she fed by tube in her stomach?

Convenience perhaps?

Manually feeding her with a spoon would take an exceedingly long time compared to the tube.
Sorry, I don’t buy it. Everything I’ve read indicate that she was in a persistent vegitative state…meaning she wouldn’t have had the capacity to swallow water food.

If loving family members made those observations, they were likely either confused or mistaken.

Perhaps what you believe is a persistant vegatative state is not what those making the decision consider a persistant vegatative state.
It would not be the first time that people play fast and loose with vocabulary to facilitate an agenda.

I recall at least one video tape showing her eating.
Besides, do you really wish to hang the argument on the idea that these people were mistaken about something as unmistakable as eating?

I would consider them mistaken about a number of things…
Tracking with her eyes as a measure of consciousness…
Saying things…deliberate motions, etc.
All could be read into a great deal by someone that loves her dearly and wants to see something.

But eating is not something you can readily mistake no matter how much love there may be biasing your view.

The autopsy proved that she was blind…there eas no eye tracking.

And yet there was also video to show that she was watching the activity around her.

In one specific, her family held a red balloon in front of her and moved it about.
She tracked it with her eyes. It is clearly visible on the video.

Of course, this is no indication of higher brain function.
But it is proof that she was not blind.

But since you bring it up, is blindness a reason to kill her?

Christopher Reeve had more intrusive means of life support. He would become fatigued breathing on his own for more than half an hour.

I don’t recall anyone saying he should be removed from life support.

During coverage of Terri Schiavo’s death (2 weeks to die, slowlly) I was watching a debate on CNN. Ralph Nadar was brought on to give his opinion supporting terminating food. After he heard that the family members were willing to assume all care for her, and that the husband could divorce her, and move on with his life, he changed his position and supported Terri’s right to live.

CNN has many transcrips online, maybe it’s still available.

May baby was born at a little over 28 weeks…he couldn’t coordinate feeding and breathing…he was tube fed, he had breathing support.

I did not need to consent to these treatments…they were ordinary treatments.
