Italian gay-rights activists have unleashed a barrage of criticism on Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan, after the Mexican-born prelate was quoted as saying that “transsexuals and gays will never enter the heavenly kingdom.”

If the Mexican-born prelate really did say that, do you agree with him? I agree with him if he is talking about practicing transsexuals and gays. Thing is, I’m not sure if he’s talking about practicing ones or all of them. What do you all think? 🤷

Well… if you’re a gay, or a transexual, then by definition you’re having these abhorrent ‘relations’ with your partner:mad:(blech!)

So I agree, of course. I mean if not, you’re on the side of the gay activists… never a good place to be.

I honestly don’t know…On the surface it might appear that way, but I think it would need a professional qualified to make these kinds of calls to be sure

It appears most of it could possibly be pedestray(sp) but I am not a DR so I am not going to say that is definatly what it was

‘He said that there are different causes for same-sex attraction, and those who feel homosexual impulses “perhaps aren’t guilty, but by acting against the dignity of the body they will certainly not enter the Kingdom of Heaven," he said’

Are you still confused?

That would apply only to* practicing *homosexuals.
The terms “gay” or “homosexual” are usually also applied to those who, afflicted with such desires, choose celibacy rather than indulge them.

and what definition is that of which your speaking here ?
i am a post op transsexed person and i dont have nor desire a partner or sexual relations.
so again please tell me what definition.

Let us not miss the point here. Sexuality is a gift given to us by God so that we can join with him in the creative process and produce new human beings. Every sexual act that does not further procreation is an act outside of the will of God. Acts of procreation between unmarried people are also outside of His will. Gay people engaging in sexaual acts are not using sex as it was intended so they along with anyone else that misueses our sexual powers are taking risks with their eternal future. So let us not just limit these things to gay people, it applies to every person on earth, gay or straight. Perhaps this is too conservative opinion for some, please, take what you like and leave the rest. I am not judging anyone, I am just putting forth what I believe the Church teaches about sexuality. What say ye?

I’m very sorry for not being clear. I wouldn’t consider a person who’s not “active” as a homosexual, but as having homosexual temptations. Sorry, we’re thinking the same thing, just using different words:rolleyes:
My apologies! God Bless

I don’t think that he was referring to you. Most people who have desires to have a partner. In your case you are an exception to the rule…

Those with those desires and act upon them deserve eternal death unless they repent. However, it is the same with those who abuse their normal sexual desires.

Plus, who cares if certain same sex couples are offended by these comments, we are offended by their abhorrent behaviour.

well there are a lot of exceptions to the rule because a good percentage of transsexed people are non sexual.
transsex isnt about ones sexual orientation or desires for sex it is about ones core identity and should not be lumped in with homosexuals as that is purely to do with ones sexual orientation. transsex people can be gay, straight, bisexual or non sexual.

**Homosexuality and transsexuality (and, for that matter, intersexuality) are NOT the same things.

A lot of ignorant people conflate them.

I would have thought that a cardinal of the Church would have been more savvy than to commit this error.

Holly, dear soul, I think you spend too much of your time reading the wrong things.**

**And you actually think that a celibate or virgin homosexual (yes, they exist) becomes heterosexual by such abstinence?

If so, you know nothing about how human sexual orientation works.**

I don’t know about Australia, but in the US they “lump” themselves in through activist organizations. That’s why most refer to the LGBT community (LesbianGayBisexualTranssexual).

I repeat from other posts I have made – we pray. We don’t judge. That is left to God.

the lgbt organisations are a world wide group. the t is not for transsex it is for transgender and the term transgender has been misused by the lgbt group for quite a while now. it is these days meant to be an umbrella term describing all gender diverse people from transvestites through to transsex. it was not originally to used to include transsex only those that were transvestites, drag queens , etc… the transsex community was brought into the equation by the transgendered to try and make gains for their own but has really only managed to pull the transsexed down and diminish their rights and increase the hostility aimed at us.

I’ve always been taught as a catholic that God makes these decisions, and nobody but Him knows who will get into heaven. For a priest, or anyone else to say different, is wrong.

Now, if you want to say that sinful actions put you at risk of losing your salvation and eternal damnation, I would agree.

He’s partially correct. A gay person can go to Heaven if he/she is abstinent.

A priest can and should issue the same warnings that Jesus and St Paul did. That is not the same as making a final judgement. Repentance and mercy are always there.

The Church will never accept an inclination as an “identity”. Many words have been redefined by our society. The Church will never accept many of them that are defined with relativistic meanings

Definitely. (Sentence One.)
And entire concepts and altered realities have been suddenly created out of whole cloth by modern society. (Sentence Two) Manipulated words have been instrumental in that effort --enabling society to rationalize where it finds itself: confused, wandering, unstable, and unsure of identity.

Well, it’s true. Gays are like the guy who is on oxygen but continues to smoke. He has lost control of the body that God has lended him and he is angry at the lender.
