Asking someone out is not harassment. Finding me attractive is not harassment.

It is the industry I am in as a whole. I am very good at what I do, I’m not going to leave just because YOU think I shouldn’t say I’m queer.
But if you feel you should have to say anything because of unwanted advances and feel it is impacting your carreer it is sexual harrassment.

I didn’t say stop doing what you are doing. I say you should possibly find a different employer if this employer condones sexual harrassment.

If I never say anything to explain why I am giving vague nonspecific answers, then there is no way for them to know they are unwanted.

It’s a thousand times easier to just let them know, the first time. Then they never ask again in a ‘date’ manner, I just become one of the guys as far as they’re concerned. They don’t care. They still invite me out to parties and things, but they know I’m not available, I’m just a coworker having fun like they are.

But it’s the catholic position that homosexuality is immoral, not society. All of your arguments to prevent it in this country are still religious, no matter how much you try to make it seem like they are not. It might crumble your perception of society, but not necessarily society itself, since that society is based, in part, on freedom.

And to say that gay marriages are not rooted in family and are therefore chiefly for pleasure is a rash generalization. Gay couples can be long term just like any others.
The immorality of homosexuality is not the position of the Catholic CHurch. Homosexuality is a disordered attraction, and acting on those urges is immoral, just as immoral as pedophelia and beastiality. So it is not the attraction, but the activity that is immoral. And this view is shared by a vast majority of the world’s population. Jew, Christian amd Muslim

Ok, but if you ever feel like your refusal of their advances is impacting your ability to do your job, your job security or your manager’s opinion of you, don’t take it, that would be sexual harrassment.

To start off, I should have said religious, not Catholic, sorry about that. You say that it is a disordered attraction, but the idea that is is disordered is a religions one, not social. And homosexuality is not viewed on the same level with pedophilia in society (gays aren’t sent to jail, are they?).

It used to be. That is the thing. Norms and mores change within a society, but the standard of holiness does not. If you use society’s norms as a measuring stick, you have nothing solid to stand on. Morality should be judged on something mor substantial that the whims of a single society. And I think everyone agrees that the concept of homosexuality goes against the process of natural reproduction.

It used to be, but simple things used to be punishable by stoning, and you wouldn’t even consider that now. Society has, undoubtedly changed religion as well, we’ll stay on the topic of marriage. In Christ’s time, marriage was arranged, and wives were wholly subordinate (that part is even mentioned in the Bible). Society, however changed that, and so did many faiths. I’m guessing you wouldn’t consider marriage to be any less than what is is today. I agree that morality should not be based on society, but the citizens of the nation are free to follow their own faith, which may include different morals than ours.

Name me one major world religion that does not frown on homosexual activity.

No, it isn’t. It’s harassment based on my sexuality, which is not protected in most states. I would have nothing to legally complain about and I would be fired. Why do I know this? Because it has happened, repeatedly.

Why does it have to be part of a major religion’s beliefs in order to be protected in our constitution? That wasn’t the point of that post.

Not all pedophiles are sent to jail. law only relate to their acting out their desires or possessing images of children, or being in proximity of children, etc. The urges themselves are not illegal but treated as a disease. Although gays are not normally sent to jail many states have laws banning certain acts.

Most of the large companies I worked in (and my current employer) would not tollerate the things I mentioned in my previous post with you and would fire the manager involved. If you are happy in your job it is a moot point but if you feel your coworkers or boss are creating a hostile work environment research the issue.

ok this is honest, I know there used to be, but besides public indecency, what laws still exist? Links would help.
anti sodomy laws. I hope you understand why I wouldn’t want to do a search on this topic.
