I have sent this exact request to several religious organizations and have yet to hear any kind of explanation. Please, someone explain this to me. I am listening. Ernie
Please explain to me why these 28 Bible verses are conveniently brushed aside, but Leviticus 18:22 & 20:13 are considered absolute Biblical Law.
All quotes are from various versions of The Old and The New Testament
Mark 10:1-12 New Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her; and if she herself divorces her husband and marries another man, she is committing adultery.
Deuteronomy 22:28-29 Old If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.
Leviticus 20:18 Old If a man lies with a woman during her sickness and uncovers her nakedness, he has discovered her flow, and she has uncovered the flow of her blood. Both of them shall be cut off from her people.
Leviticus 20:10 Old If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death.
Leviticus 21:9 Old A priest’s daughter who loses her honor by committing fornication and thereby dishonors her father also, shall be burned to death.
Deuteronomy 23:2 Old One of illegitimate birth shall not enter the congregation of the Lord.
Leviticus 20:27 Old A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death.
1 Timothy 2:11-14 New A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived, it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.
1 Corinthians 14:34-35 New Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.
Proverbs 20:30 Old Blows and wounds cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the inmost being.
Proverbs 23:13-14 Old Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod, he will not die. Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death.
Leviticus 20:9 Old For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him.
Exodus 21:15 Old Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death.
James 5:14-15 New Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save him that is sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.
Leviticus 19:27 Old Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.
Leviticus 11:7 Old…and the swine, though it divides the hoof, having cloven hooves, yet does not chew the cud, is unclean to you.
Leviticus 11:10 Old But all in the seas or in the rivers that do not have fins and scales, all that move in the water or any living thing which is in the water, they are an abomination to you.
Leviticus 11:11 Old They (shellfish) shall be an abomination to you; you shall not eat their flesh, but you shall regard their carcasses as an abomination.
Leviticus 11:12 Old Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales; that shall be an abomination to you.
