Gay pride event in our town

Exactly. I’m not a priest so I can’t perform exorcisms. But I can pray the rosary. 🙂 Padre Pio called it a weapon for a reason. When a band of robbers is marching past my house what good will it do me to leave my weapon in the drawer? We must pray the rosary, it has the power to save souls from hell, including our own.

I guess we just disagree on the meaning of the word “intolerance,” because that’s not how I would define intolerance. For example, there are certain behaviors that I will not tolerate in my children. I believe that I could say that I have intolerance for these behaviors. Yet I love my children, and I think I can refuse to tolerate certain behaviors without necessarily losing charity or compassion.
I think this is probably one of those cases where the English language is rather inadequate. It seems like there is probably an ideological difference between “not tolerating” something and being intolerant towards certain beliefs, lifestyles, etc.

What are the odds that a Straight Pride march would be allowed?
When is the last time someone was imprisoned for being straight?

We might believe that homosexuality is a sin, but we can at least not be ignorant and unfeeling about the way people who are homosexual suffer discrimination literally every day in this world.

So do anorexics

Some LGBTQ have a lot more similar to anorexics than most people realize.

Anorexics aren’t objectively fat, but they believe they are.
Trans aren’t objecively women, but they believe they are.

I agree. People at this event will see your message in a very black and white context. “Pride” in and of itself is a deadly sin, remember? No matter what you’re prideful about. I would instead hold a novena or prayer event nearby for all the people in the parade and maybe later invite people to a theology of the body talk

Hang up this picture over the church

Dead certain. Basically every day on every street in every city is a huge straight pride parade. And a huge White Lives Matter demonstration.

Sometimes people can get a petition signed by enough people to get this kind of garbage stopped.
I know someone who said in their town an awful display was going to be put up next to the nativity scene.
Shortly after it was announced, people got a petition made and a bunch of people signed it…the display did not go up.
Trouble is, in the United States there’s a little thing called the First Amendment which limits the power of government over free speech.

Eucharistic adoration sounds like a good idea. You should listen to the other posters and have one as a reparation for their sins and for their conversion.

Jesus converted crowds through public evangelization. They should at least try I think. If the OP was saying that they were having a pro-choice rally across the street from the church would we have the same, “don’t go because you can’t convert anyone reaction?” Both sins are grave in manner. The only difference I see here is that maybe some marchers aren’t acting on that sin, but let’s be real here, most of them are.

I’m sorry, but if this is a public event how can they infringe on your First Amendment right to talk about what your views on acting on gay impulses are? As long as you engage in a peaceful manner they have no right to attempt to keep you from saying what you want.

I understand what this picture is portraying, but I don’t think this is going to win anyone over.

I guess you are considered a gate crasher if you set up a booth inside their event, with the intention of disagreeing with their lifestyles. The last thing ( clearly ) you’d want to do is appear to be even slightly like the hateful Baptist group … Since it’s across the road from your Church, perhaps your people could hold a large, attractive, interesting, maybe even Fascinating, large event of your own at the SAME time. 🙂 and everyone is invited. Doughnuts, coffee, bingo, etc

Jesus converted crowds through public evangelization.
The gospels and Acts of the Apostles show one-on-one evangelization, and public teaching at venues under the control of Jesus or the apostles - as opposed to confronting at a venue controlled by someone else. Confronting a parade where you are almost certainly outnumbered, and the other side perhaps has a permit to be there, is not a show of strength but a show of weakness. It is exactly what our opponents would desire.

The secularists do well in loud confrontations, they love the mob spirit. The Christians do very well in quiet, loving contacts, one on one. We also do sort of well in rallies for evangelism, prolife or the Family downtown, where we control the microphone and outnumber any protesters.

At the abortion clinic we are trained never to yell at anyone on the sidewalk, to be respectful of patient and staff who are walking in, We are a prayerful presence, available to talk or listen. We see only individuals, and occasionally convert them through our persistence, even the ones who see us but have no verbal communication.

We take no action whatever against Crowds, because that is on the Other Side’s terms. Conversion takes place only by seeing the individual away from the crowd. We work from our own strengths, not the other side’s strengths.
