LittleFlower: Thank you very much.
Two (or 3) points: “Gay”, “seeks out the Lord”, “willing”. Ok. That’s good & probably can be agreed upon by faithful. There’s a flip side not spoken of: “Gay”, “doesn’t seek out the Lord”, “not willing”.
Reporters who purposefully misreport are liars.

“…If a person is gay and seeks out the Lord and is willing…”

Certain people love to use the word “ judge “. “ You’re judging me “.
No. I’m discerning. I’m discerning a good tree’s fruit from a bad tree’s fruit.
You shall know them by their fruit.

“ …seems fraught with dangers and confrontations “
That - would be - a bad tree, if you were a farmer, to go near.

One can sin by intention. So if one has the intention to go to a bar and pick up someone of the same sex, even if he doesn’t go along with the act, sins by having the evil intention.
I think you need an act.

Wanting to kill someone is not an ideal state of mind, but if you do nothing then nothing evil has occured. But if you shoot and kill someone, or even shoot and miss, then that is evil.

Offer up your sexual feelings and it can go a long way towards making them efficacious.

Not according to Catholic doctrine. There are three ways of sinning, in though, word or deed.
I understand that. And I would include ‘word’ as a deed, as in bad mouthing someone. But in my opinion, thinking something is not wrong in itself. I had a discussion some time back about evil and I insisted that there can be no evil without an action.

I’m sure you’re aware of the ‘thought police’ argument when it comes to matters such as these.

I’m not talking about unwanted thoughts.

Having an intention to kill someone is an act.

For someone to sin, the person has to will it.

OK. I intend to kill the next guy who cuts me up in traffic. What act have I performed? To save you the trouble, I’ll answer for you. None. It is just a thought that I have. Not a good one, admittedly. But it’s nothing more than a thought.

I might be in a bad mood and that’s why I’m thinking it. I might be the type of guy who wouldn’t do any such thing and it just makes me feel good or I might be homicidal. Either way, nothing evil has occured until I actually do kill someone or try to.

It’s the same with a terrorist. He might think that he’d like to kill people but until he acts - starts planning it for example, then no evil has ocurred.

No an evil has occurred in both situations. The culpability may be lessoned in the first instance to a venal sin, if one just thought out of frustration that he was going to literally kill the next person who cut him off.

If it’s just semi consent than the sin may only be venal.

We must get any sin out of our mind asap so it doesn’t grow into full consent.

Matthew 5
21 “You have heard that [k]the ancients were told, ‘You shall not commit murder’ and ‘Whoever commits murder shall be [l]liable to the court.’ 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be [m]guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘[n]You good-for-nothing,’ shall be [o]guilty before [p]the supreme court; and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be [q]guilty enough to go into the [r]fiery hell.

I appreciate that you are toe-ing the party line, so we shall agree to disagree.

Show them what beautiful loving people you are , that you really follow Jesus’ command to love everyone, even your enemies—serve them bottled water, power bars. Actually be the person that they will want to be.
G,

Not all folk who believe in God have a problem with homosexuality.
Believing in God, & having a firm intention of following His Words & Ways, are two different things nowadays. Shouldn’t be that way, but it seems to be.

Without grace we are dead meat.

Adultery, Fornication, Homosexuality are normal to those with original sin and even when one is baptized the effects of original sin remain. We are living in a constant struggle that we all must face. We must win the battle.

We need God’s help!

When you are having lustful thoughts and/or feelings, acknowledge them to yourself and God. (Especially if those thoughts are disordered like ssa.) Let God know that without Him you are nothing, but with Him you will not act on them or obsesses about them. Offer them as a small sacrifice for the express purpose of promoting God’s Greater Glory.

Resisting the urge to sin is pleasing to God. God appreciates our efforts to be better people and to turn our back to sin.

Others can explain it better. I am new to this way of thinking. I just know that often God’s grace accompanies turning your back on sin.

Jesus said even looking at a woman lustfully was the same as adultery. Fantasizing about murder is most likely sinful. Entertaining certain thoughts an absolutely be sins even without going through with the action.
