Gay rights groups attack iPhone confession app for Roman Catholics

It still astounds and mystifies me that the phenomenon of homosexuality is playing such a key role in the current assault upon the Holy Church at this point in Her journey through time. That a radicalized, activist homosexual movement, in coordinated opposition to the Catholic Church, should be in a position to pose such a threat, and that its enmity should be so effectively abated at certain levels of power and influence, is nothing short of perlexing. It stands in open rebellion before the very heart of Christ.

When viewed in combination with the profoundly damaging role of homosexuality at the core of the clerical abuse scandals, this phenomenon can be strikingly, and frighteningly, viewed at the forefront of this diabolical time of strife currently being endured by the Roman Catholic Church. There is a strange sort of darkness attatched to it.

The title of this thread possesses the word, “attack”, and I think within that word rests a truth that no amount of guile can obfuscate. Regardless of the stated objects behind such attacks, whether they be this iPhone app, or homosexual civil unions, the real target always has been, and always will be, the holiness of Christ’s Bride on Earth. And, to take it even closer to the source, it is Jesus himself who is the true opposition of these movements, be they called Gay Rights, Abortion Rights, or Atheism, etc…

Charity commands us to be magnanimous, but it does not suggest that we blind ourselves the truths of our times. We must look upon, and see, our enemies as they assail our faith and religion; and we must repond with holiness. We must live out our faith, plainly and openly, and shine like living flame. That is our best response.

What a beautiful posting, thanks for sharing this. I also agree with how visible the pupeteering of the evil one is in all of this, the effective usage of homosexuality, abortion, a fundamental misunderstanding of “womand right” and indeed “rights” in general.

My whole life I always wondered what life would have been like living as the fathers did. Under constant persecution and fear of being discovered. We’re not there yet, and perhaps we never will be in my life time God willing. However the possiblities seem so much more real than I ever would have guessed before. I never would have guessed things would have developed like this. Particularly in my yougth when I certainly tended more to side with what I increasingly view as the warriors of the evil one.

The greatest grace I was ever given was my steadfast belief in Christ, it has opened my eyes.
 
I found this one line insightful, speaking of homosexual Catholics:

“…they need to come out of the closet and challenge anti-gay dogma.”

This shows a basic lack of knowledge of what Catholicism is all about. A Catholic must accept dogma as a matter of faith.

You’re right pnewton, it shows a massive lack of knowledge. And who do they think they are, telling gay Catholcs what they “need” to do? Surely all Catholics who are gay need to do is to be cool with the Lord, as does any other Catholic. Gay or straight, it makes no difference, we all will meet our maker. These gay rights activists are the first to speak out against facism and they dont realize that most of them are facists themselves.

You’re right, too. All Catholics are called to chastity. And we all sin and we all have crosses to bear. It must be difficult for some homosexuals to receive conflicting messages: one from the Church and one from secular sources that tell them to share their gifts with the world.

And, yes, they should share their gifts with the world. A homosexual is not exclusively homosexual; every one of us has been blessed with gifts that we should share. I know that’s not what gay rights groups mean but it’s still true. A homosexual can be a shining example of purity and chastity. He/she can be an expert at understanding Scripture, at prayer, at knowing how to feed the hungry and house the homeless. He/she can literally be a saint. Nobody should be defined exclusively by his/her sexual attractions just as nobody should be defined exclusively by any other single trait. That just isn’t fair and it shows ignorance of the fact that we were all created in God’s image - even homosexuals.

We should all remember the parable of the sheep and the goats. Whatever we do to anyone - whether that person is homosexual or not - we do to Jesus. And we will answer for our actions.

Truth Wins Out is an admirable organization which challenges the “ex-gay” ministry. Its intent here was to protect gay Catholics from being sucked into this harmful ministry and it went, perhaps, a bit too far in this case. It, rightly, wants gay Catholics to accept that they are homosexuals and this is not contrary to Church teaching. What they should do, behavior wise, after that is where the Church and Truth Wins Out part ways.

No, this application aids the penitant in the examination of their contience prior to confession. This is why the Church has given the application it’s seal of approval. It does no more than give a guide to the penitent so they can offer a god confession. This will include things “Truth Wins Out” ideologically wants to consider “not sinful”. Most especially the homosexual lifestyle. Such a life style is in direct contradition with the charity of Christ Jesus, there for it is up to the penitent to examin their contience, make good confession, and sincerly work to remove this lifestyle from their life.

Exactly 👍 Theres so many wonderful atributes to define an individual such as chairty, purity and saintliness as you said, as well as musical and artistic tallents which all go towards making to world a wonderful place. Why do some people palce so much importance on their sexuality? Why do they base their entire life upon it? What has it got to do with the confession app anyway :confused: It was the gay rights activists who made it an issue and not the Vatican. The Vatican never even mentioned homosexuality, it only wants for the app to help EVERYONE and then the activists decided to make themselves out to be victimised by the Vatican because they’re so preoccupied with feeling sorry for themselves and cant see the world beyond their own sex lives. They’re sex mad I tells ya. :rolleyes:

By ex-gay ministry do you mean those groups who try to “cure” gay people and make them straight? If so they get on my nerves too. Im all for protecting and helping gay people, in school I looked out for my friend who is gay (I should add he’s one of my best friends, he acted as a bridesmaid to me at my wedding and I love him dearly) because he was mercilessly bullied and I took him into my house when his dad threw him out, but if a Catholic who is gay wishes to follow the church through his or her own choice as an individual then what right do the activists have telling them that they are wrong and that they “need to come out of the closet.” Isnt this dictating? Doesnt this make them guilty of what they constantly accuse the church of doing, i.e. trying to control people? And who is to say they arent out of the closet and still manage to live their lives as Catholics as they have chosen to.

TWO is a disgusting organization. If they truly wanted “gay Catholics to accept that they are homosexuals”, they would not intimidate them when they wanted help for their problem. Accepting their homosexuality is a good thing, in much the same way that AA members are encouraged to proclaim, “I am an alcoholic”. Admittedly, it’s possible that homosexuality, again, to compare to alcoholism, is not curable, but treatable.

Are there organizations that are pro-alcoholism? Do a web-search! You bet there is!

The mistake that TWO makes is common. They base their actions on axioms that have never been shown to be true or false. There has not been any conclusive evidence that people are born gay. There is not been any conclusive proof that they are not. If we treat homosexuality as a birth defect, then that offends gays. If we say know, it is a choice, that offends gays.
 
They want to claim they are born that way, but it’s not a defect, like alcoholism or schizophrenia, but an equal thing, like red hair or brunette. Then they really get upset when compared to pedophiles, but pedophiles use the same excuses that gays do.

Truth Wins Out believes that such teaching leads homosexuals into “ex-gay” ministries so they oppose it. They believe that it is psychologically imperitive for gay men and women to not only accept that they are gay but also to embrace it.

Yes there is, it is when you choose to live the homosexual life style. You can indeed choose not to live said life style. Homosexuality is just that, a life style that you choose to live or that you choose not to live.

Sex is a choice, it always will be a choice.

Because mankind has been disordered since Adam. Satan, destined for ruin, desires to bring as many with him into Hell as he can. It is the nature of sin. These militant homosexuals are sold over to sin. The disorder of their homosexuality is the lesser of disorders. The biggest perversion is that which all sin brings.

Which brings us to the only solution for any of us: the grace of God.

And Mass murderers have more victims. So what? Whether a victim exists only applies to crime, not sin. However, mortal sin of any flavor can send a soul to Hell. Catholics confess these sins at Confession. They examine their conscience before. For this application, homosexuals have no better an objection than murderers or thieves.
