Gay Youth Minister

It got nudged in that direction by people thinking the youth minister would be inappropriate due to the scandals. I myself don’t necessarily think that’s true.

We should tell the OP that simply having an attraction towards the same sex doesn’t make one a predator and shouldn’t be a topic of scandal for a position as youth minister.

Unless this person is in an active homosexual relationship, and is saying things that are contrary to the faith, I see no reason to exclude this person from being part of youth ministry
 
No, because there are other options than children to use as a “release.”

Why would a person with SSA be unfit for youth ministry, assuming that they are living and teaching Catholic doctrine properly.

To quote a professor from UC Davis:
The empirical research does not show that gay or bisexual men are any more likely than heterosexual men to molest children. This is not to argue that homosexual and bisexual men never molest children. But there is no scientific basis for asserting that they are more likely than heterosexual men to do so. And, as explained above, many child molesters cannot be characterized as having an adult sexual orientation at all; they are fixated on children.

My diocese had criteria for hiring and firing employees on the diocesan website for a long time but all that disappeared in the past year. If an employee lived a personal and or public life conflicting with Church teaching then employment would be terminated. Given the culture climate, I can see why published employment criteria vanished. This particular issue is the next bastion for those that would prefer to unhinge the Church.
