And you do seem to ignore transmen all the time
I for one am not surprised that JoyToTheWhirled hasn’t addressed transmen since her entire point has been the conflict between women’s hard earned rights to sex-segregated facilities and services, and the burgeoning transgendered rights movement. If anything she would’ve betrayed her claims to concern for women had she mentioned transmen.

I think you are being rather goady. You have ignored every instance I have brought up of women’s and girl’s rights being eroded, you have repeatedly thrown out fudged non-sense as though it was science, appropriated intersex issues which intersex organisations have asked not to be conflated with transactivism, and unless I’ve read you wrong you’ve just made a nasty insinuation about my interactions with my daughter. I’m sure you actually think you are being terrifically clever by refuting my examples with your magazine cover. I am thoroughly appalled with your behaviour, but I don’t doubt that will have little impact as your are entirely convinced of your own virtue as you merrily scorn legitimate concerns.

You see how easy it is to change pronouns to what someone prefers? Calling someone what they ask to be called isn’t “absurdly solicitous”; it’s polite.

I am very willing to oblige in order to be more accurate. I am considerably less willing to oblige at the expense of accuracy and of truth. This is not so difficult.

Well put.

Very well put.

I mean we already ask women what their title is all the time (miss, mrs or ms? Is something I am asked most days).
I never get asked that. I’m either called Miss Pup7 or Mrs. Pup7 - and I don’t truly care what I’m called, unless I’m in uniform and on base where my rank should be used.

I don’t get caught up in titles except in uniform - and even then it’s only because that’s what we’re supposed to do. I actually don’t care what I’m called as long as my paycheck is correct.

Transwomen are women, their concerns are valid.
Transwomen are transwomen. They are not women genetically. They have no clue what it’s like to be born and spend your life as a female. They have no idea what it was like to grow up as a woman. It doesn’t make them less of a person in the least - but they don’t know what it’s like to be a woman any more than I know what it’s like to grow up as a male.

We’ve had that conversation before.

And yet, if there is a child who says she’s a girl, wants to dress like a girl, etc. but was assigned male at birth and we do everything to stop her from doing that, we are denying her the opportunity to experience growing up a girl. We can’t hold that against her.

Weird, I get it all the time from serving staff. And it’s on most forms.

🤔 I would have gone with the taco/hotdog version of that analogy. But, point taken.

What’s wrong with just letting children be who they are without putting them through invasive hormone shots and corrective surgery? Why force them to alter their entire biology just to accommodate a social construct?

Children are only given hormone blockers under extreme conditions. Surgery isn’t given. Except to intersex children.

They aren’t pretending.

If you reduce being a girl to having a period, cycles, or having children then you ultimately exclude a lot of cis gendered females. I haven’t had children and I have often gotten the message from women who have that I have not experience womanhood to it’s fullest. If we work backward there are plenty of women who do not have cycles, and so many women who have very small breasts. I’m not going to go into the struggles I have had with my lady parts and the unfortunate messages I got from toxic people but it was similar but different to women who get breast augmentation surgery.

Again, in part because society, and certain groups very deliberately create obstacles to having that experience. Just as there are transwomen who understand those stereotypes better than some there are cisgendered women who deny those things and a whole spectrum in between.

I don’t know if you realize that it doesn’t negate what I’m saying. Trans people know their physicality. They are saying it doesn’t fit with their mind, their brain.

If that child decided to take hormones once they were an adult they’d grow breasts. And plenty of women don’t menstruate or have children.

As Alex noted the hormones come later and the surgery much later. Let them live as the gender they know they are, let them dress how they want to dress, cut or grow their hair, etc.

There’s nothing to explain.

It’s common sense.

I have no clue what it’s like to be male. I don’t know what it’s like to inhabit a male body.

No clue why that’s so hard to understand.

I usually ignore it on forms because I find it stupid, to be honest.

But I never get asked about my title. Truthfully. And never by a server in a restaurant.

Disregard what I deleted.

It is. I am not male. A male is not female.

Someone who isn’t that sex only knows what it is like to be that person. I have no clue what it’s like to be anyone else of any designation any more than someone has any clue what it’s like to be me as a female.

Not hard.
