I hate every second of this. I have no doubt in my mind Zimmerman will probably not get a fair trial in any event, and that the deliberately inflamed racial tensions, already playing out in revenge attacks, will explode if this is handled with anything less than Zimmerman’s lifelong imprisonment.
I feel the same.

Knowing all of this, he has walked right into the jaws of the beast.

I do not know if the man is a hero or a murderer.

I agree. Drivers who have killed people who popped out in front of their cars carry the weight with them the rest of their lives.
Taking someone’s life, even the life of someone who is actively trying to take yours, is something that weighs on you forever.

About time
Yes, wondering about his changed appearance:
maybe a mixture of remorse, fear and a bit of wisdom.
Based on personal experience and observations of others, extreme stress can cause one to not eat. I don’t think it would come from remorse

I read an article where some neighbors/friends said he’s been extremely stressed, probably PTSD, and hasn’t been eating. All the media attention and marches, etc. would intensify whatever stress he already felt. He also had some emotional issues before.

Everyone involved needs our prayers. We don’t know what really happened. It is tragic.

GZ’s life, even if found not guilty, is not worth a hill of beans.
I try to tell my friends that carry, once you pull that weapon. You life will be forever changed.
Some take that to heart, others you can see dont faze one bit.
Evidence will take us to what was the last thing that happend that lead to the shot being fired.
And really thats all that matters in the stand your ground part of this.
GZ had a right to see who was walking around his neighborhood, he had a right to call the police, the broke off following the kid then the kid turned and wanted me make an issue of it and threw a punch.
That is becoming more and more the “official story” and one you hit someone and knock them down.
Its very likely you will be shot.

Sounds like alot of remorse for a man who “hunted Trayvon down and shot him like a dog in teh street”.
Lots of things can make you lose weight in such a situation: depression, anxiety etc. I would imagine he wished the whole thing hadn’t happened but I’m not sure how you can read ‘remorse’ into weight loss.

And our society encourages this all the time. Remember when “glorification of violence” was an issue? Now it’s the rule. We don’t even talk about it because it is the new norm. On TV, in film, in computer games, killing is portrayed as cool, as casual fun and/or glamorous. And yet, as you say, in reality people are sometimes traumatized or at least affected for life.

What are you saying, that someone feeling extreme remorse could not experience a reduction in appetite?

If Zimmerman is telling the truth, I am sure he would be feeling remorse, guilt, and sorrow. These could easily cause someone to lose their appetite. Having the weight of the national spotlight on you as a bad guy who hunted down and killed a teenager in clod blood for the mere crime of being black, even if he is innocent, would certainly cause a lot of stress and fear. <<Apparently I have to say twice that all this is if Zimmerman is telling the truth and he did act in self-defense and did not initiate the confrontation.

I thought so at first, but then I remembered that the first picture of him circulating around is very old (5 years or so), and more recent pictures show a thinner man.

No doubt though this taken a heavy psychological toll on him – sorrow, distress, and extreme fear for his life.

You seem to have your mind made up. If arguably the most reviled mother in America, got her day in court and was acquitted, no doubt Zimmerman has that chance too. Unless of course, the jury gets scared by what was dished out to her jurors with nary a peep of outcry from the saner ones among us! Maybe now we understand why the rights of everyone: innocent, guilty and accused, need to be protected. One can never really quite predict one’s chances of ending up in the defendant’s chair.

Hero for what? Surrendering to the court? Is he the first accused person to do so?

 What “official story”?

Like that teenage mom who shoot and killed an intruder. Apart from just one person with location America and a few of us non-Americans, every other person on the thread was damn cool with it and hitting hard on the sole American who didn’t find it funny. Taking away human life is damn huge.

The Affidavit of Probable Cause has been released. I was kind of surprised that their evidence to support their claim was heresay evidence and not something substantial. I hope they have something better than that or they’re going to get slaughtered at trial. It may be they use the weakest evidence in the affidavit just to get the ball moving. 🤷 Our criminal cases are done differently, so I’m not familiar with this procedure. Anyone know?

Yes, I am feeling very sad for everyone, even the killer. A family friend was a new police officer when he shot and killed a crook (justified), and he was in therapy for years over the incident, the idea of being a killer, the shock. I give Zimmerman the benefit of the doubt that he at the very least truly wishes he had stayed in the car, and at most he might be feeling truly stricken over what he has done.
The whole situation is so awful, so sad. I hope in the end that justice is possible. I hope too that healing is possible for the nation after all the race baiters from all sides are finished with their sideshows.

Hearsay is typically considered non-admissible, unless its a dying declaration. Probably why the prosecutor didn’t go through a grand jury. They wouldn’t have considered hearsay when determining probably cause or sufficient cause to indict.

I’m glad he seems to have competent legal representation now. His previous lawyers were completely unprofessional at their press conference.

Let’s get one thing straight-------

We do not KNOW if TM hit GZ first. You are assuming------just like folks are assuming GZ hit first. Both sides are being irresponsible. Rush to judgement on BOTH sides.

Like I’ve said------let’s see what the trial uncovers and let the system do its work.

Ok, I’m very curious about this aspect of the case:
  1. Can Zimmerman sue the media station that edited the tape to make him appear racist?
  2. Can Zimmerman sue his former attournys for talking like they did on t.v.?
Could they be sued successfully?

I’m wondering how Zimmerman is going to pay his new attourny.
