I would say that many Catholics were so accepting of the “conscience” clause put out by Paul VI that they took anything after that with a grain of salt. Sad really.

There does not seem to be agreement on this issue and that is worrying. While the German and Swiss Bishops agree, Catholic Medical association did not accept the American directive 36 to give rape victims the morning after pill; former president of the Pontifical Academy for life was against the morning after pill being given for rape victims; Dr Juistin Aznar has questioned the claim from the German bishops about the morning after pill acting as a contraceptive
