I did not “hijack” this thread, as I have also been posting information about ghost-hunting/ghost encounters.
You DID hijack this thread
here when you incorrectly stated that one can not kill someone in self defense which goes against official church teaching which tells us that we do not sin even if we take someone’s life while defending ourselves. Prior to that, nobody was talking about “killing” but being able to properly protect oneself when going to a place with questionable activities (“hauntings”).
I only deviated to a side-track momentarily
So you ADMIT to side-tracking this thread.
because “Sir Knight” posted PHOTOS OF HIS GUN COLLECTION.
I did not post photos of my gun collections. I posted a photo of a few of my guns which pertained to the conversation that we were having. If I posted photos of my gun collection, then THAT would have been inappropriate.
Now, if anyone is guilty of side-tracking the thread, don’t you think that promoting the use of guns qualifies?
Going to a place with questionable activities (“hauntings”) without proper protection would not be a wise thing to do. Thus, suggesting that someone bring proper protection along was a prudent thing to do and related to the topic at hand.
As I already stated, I was debating this point with SK only because I was concerned about his apparent fixation on guns.
If you wanted to debate it only with me, you should have made your comments via PM instead of on the open board. By making your comments publicly, you’ve opened it up to public discussion.
I admitted in my post that this was really a separate issue which should be another thread. However, as a Catholic who feels some responsibility for the welfare of my fellow Catholics, I do not regret trying to make SK aware that he may be fixated on his weapons. The fact that he posted the photo to this thread, I think, demonstrates this…
Gabriel Possenti was a Catholic seminarian who had an obvious
fixation on guns. When a band of twenty terrorists began to burn and pillage the town, terrorizing its inhabitants and the seminary itself, Possenti (
due to his marksmanship and proficiency with handguns) single-handedly saved the village and the seminary. Sixty years later, in 1920, the Catholic Church officially declared him to be a saint.
The seminary had no problem with this future priest’s “fixation on guns” and neither did the Catholic Church in declaring him a saint. The fact that you do have issues with people’s interest in firearms, places YOU in
disagreement with the Church with regard to this matter.
