More realistically, it should represent a “justice” system that disproportionately incarcerates African-Americans while more white people get off the hook. But that’s another thread, another topic.How would you feel about an ad that showed young black men committing crimes, and then young black men stopping them from committing crimes?
I see it differently. The commercial emphasizes how in a crowd and when group-think takes over, it can be hard to be the loner who stands up for what is right. Courageous bystanders have the power to stop a lot of harassment and violence.The reason that some people are upset with the ad is that it casts most men as bad guys, and a few “woke” guys as decent human beings.
I’m glad that Gillette launched this important conversation.
