The argument over abortion - at least since I became aware of them as a teen-ager in the fifties - has remained the same: whose interests are to be protected, the fetus or the mother. For those favoring the fetus, the mother’s interests must be secondary; for those favoring the mother, the interests of the fetus are secondary. Both sides have powerful arguments which is why this conflict has never been resolved. There is no middle ground. I read various blogs, articles, etc. from time to time to see if someone smart has come up with a new approach. Thus far, nothing new.

Aren’t they? Aren’t they already held responsible for everything he or Nancy Pelosi or any other left leaning person says or does?

Thank you for making my point, Nobody is allowed to be an individual anymore- we’re all placed in Red or Blue boxes. I don’t believe everyone who votes for the GOP hates minorities, but I have seen that accusation thrown at people on other political sites I post on.I don’t believe everyone who votes Democrat wants to kill all unborn children, but I’ve seen that accusation thrown at people as well.

I really hope that after next week, no matter who wins, we can stop treating each other with such disregard and animosity.

On one level you are correct, of course. We tend to get shoved into boxes. Fortunatelly the society immediately around us, friends, neighbors, relatives, and others, aren’t often hotheads and extremists when it comes to facing real life issues, but generally exhibit common sense and deal with situations in mature ways that reflect their values.
