I disagree. The media is following not leading. Santorum is getting the press because of his surge in Iowa. Prior to that surge, the media dismissed him as having no chance.

I don’t know what to say. The media seems to attack him without analyzing the position or giving much context. I’ll reserve judgment until I get more context and I see stats for blacks as compared to other groups about food stamp usage. Clearly the racist charge is premature.

The MSM knows that their devout followers will not stop to analyze the issue or the statement. They will swallow whatever position the press puts out there, especially if it fits their preconceived ideas.Was it his comment about how Social Security disproportionately is a bad investment for blacks because they have the shortest life spans? I heard that recently, but I didn’t know if it was a recent statement. I hope he’s not getting called a racist on that issue, because it’s actually a real issue.

However, several discussions on this forum ask why more blacks do not support the Republican party. Statements such as Gingrich’s rub a large number of blacks the wrong way. If the Republican Party is going to attract more black voters, they will have to start by not making racially charged statements.
I do not want Republican Party to play racial politics. They should push policies that are best for the country, not playing ethnic groups , races and genders .off against each other.
