Iā€™m not a Gingrich backer. I like listening to his history lectures (some of which I find inaccurate) but I donā€™t necessarily back him for POTUS. Currently I am neutral.

The Church has not defined waterboarding as ā€œtortureā€. In any event, waterboarding doesnā€™t kill. Abortion does. So, youā€™re going to vote for abortion? Does that make clear sense to you?

Probably the most talked about exchange from Saturday nightā€™s GOP debate was the Newt Gingrich/Scott Pelley back and forth regarding the sanctioned killing of American born terrorists overseas (the least talked about portion of the debate was the second hour, because not many people could watch it).

Well, Sam, I do remember the ā€œContract with Americaā€, and making you and me pay for abortion was not one of the points in it. Nor was socialized healthcare. Nor was making Catholic organizations pay for abortion coverage. Nor was cancellation of government aid to immigrant aid societies (like Catholic Charities) because they wonā€™t provide abortion referrals. Nor was linking foreign aid to abortions. Nor was causing the EPA to shut down coal mines. Nor was the cessation of drilling in the Gulf. Nor was massive deficit spending. Nor did he propose ā€œcard checkā€.

You donā€™t like that video? Neither do I. But hate it if you will, heā€™s still nowhere near being as destructive as Obama. You know it, too. Yes, you prefer Ron Paul. I get it. And I get it that you are impassioned about it. I donā€™t share that feeling with you. But I would vote for Ron Paul in a heartbeat if he was the nominee against Obama. There is a difference, Sam, between not liking something a candidate said and being willing to see your country destroyed.

As a Catholic I am glad Newt has got right with God and I wish him well. As a voter I have every right to judge him by his past & my rule of thumb is ā€œpeople donā€™t changeā€.
