I don;t think that Newt is the guy because it is reported that he has received over 1 million dollars from Freddie Mac. Isn’t this a federally subsidized agency? On the one hand, some Republicans say that they want to cut back on federal subsidies, but on the other hand, it is reported that they have received very generous compensations from government sponsored enterprises?

Newt isn’t the guy because the media makes one attack on him?

You’ll notice, if you do a google news search of “Gingrich” EVERY SINGLE STORY from probably 100 different sources is all about the same thing. Him working for Freddie Mac. It’s almost as if they get a mass email on their black berrys in the morning “GOP field gameplan for stories today”. It is ridiculously coercive. They’re all running the same story, albeit with different perspectives… They all play the same tune, just on different instruements.

Well, if Gingrich isn’t the best anti-Romney candidate, then who is?

I’m convinced that Gingrich will stay where he is until Iowa, because there IS no one else. Huntsman? Santorum? Ron Paul? Where else will we go?

No, Gingrich is by far the best of the whole field. So, I would encourage you not to get suckered by the media’s attack on him. I mean, how is advising Freddie Mac even worthy of sinking a campaign? Michele Bachmann was crazy, Rick Perry was an idiot, Herman Cain had 4 women accuse him of sexual harassment.

And now we have, advising Freddie Mac. Cmon that’s animal crackers. I can see the media spending 9 days on Cain’s sexual harassment or almost a week on Rick Perry being an idiot… but this isn’t serious enough to sink the Newt.

Breaking: Newt Gingrich works for a living!

Scandalous.

But Michelle Bachmann is not on the “Left” is she? And she has said: “Whether former Speaker Gingrich made $300,000 or whether he made $2 million, the point is that he took money to also influence senior Republicans to be favorable toward Fannie and Freddie,”
and “While he was taking that money, I was fighting against Fannie and Freddie,”…
I don’t see why you would criticise the left, when Michelle Bachmann is criticising Gingrich on this point?

Michelle Bachman is running for the nomination. I don’t put much stock in anything any of these candidates say against another candidate. Even in the Bush administration there were Republicans fighting against Fannie and Freddie. Gingrich was a consultant not a lobbyist. We don’t know what advice he gave them as a consultant. My wager is that he told them they were going belly-up if they continued on the same track. But as I said, I don’t know that.

Michele is struggling to stay in the single digits in the polls. Who cares what she says. Her campaign was over when Perry jumped in the race. She should go back to Congress and do some work that really matters.

Really. If he wanted real credibility he would have spent the last 3 years on unemployment with his house in forclosure while pursuing a master’s degree in Ancient African Women’s Poetry funded by government loans.

Well, if it was bad for Newt to accept compensation from Fannie and Freddie, how bad is it for Raines and Gorelick to take money from Fannie and Freddie?

I dunno, Gingrich’s firm got 1.5 million. Raines got into the tens of millions in personal compensation.

**BREAKING: GINGRICH AHEAD IN IOWA!!!
**
According to a Rasmussen Poll released today, Gingrich is in first place.

Gingrich 32
Romney 19
Cain 13
Paul 10
Perry 6
Bachmann 6
Santorum 5
Huntsman 2

That’s right. 8 Candidates, and he has one third of the vote!!!

P.S.
Who said anything about “taking money?” How about, Newt earned money from Fannie and Freddie. He didn’t just walk in and get paid, he worked for that money.

Please check up on how much money we are talking about here. Raines got some 9M for helping run the entity into the ground. Gorelick got a potful also. Newt got approximately 17,000 a year for telling them to watch what they were doing. They were on a precipice. Large difference, I think.

Is he the first person this election season to hit the 30s in the polls? I think so?? I’m excited someone is that much higher than Romney finally.

Well, in fairness… Perry polled in the 30s for a time, and so did Cain.

However, there is a lot more to Newt Gingrich than both Perry and Cain. They were saying on the news today… “well, no one knew anything about Perry, when people saw him fail in the debates, they left his campaign in droves, his debate performances were all they knew”.

See, Rick Perry and Herman Cain came onto the national stage out of nowhere.

We Republicans like to pick someone who has earned that nomination. Obviously that applies to H.W. Bush and George Bush. It applied also to John McCain.

I think it applies to both Gingrich and Romney.

We have to get those prayers going…that the Lord will bless the right candidates for our nation.
Particularly good Catholics like Gingrich and Santorum.

I will pray for everyone on the GOP contention field.

But particularly for those two. :)👍

There is no “there there”

My first choice is Santorum.

If it can’t be Santorum, then my second choice is: any conservative who can win!

Cain scored above 30% in some of the Iowa polls earlier this month.
This is an Iowa poll, not a national poll.
That being said, I trust Rasmussen a great deal more than the other polls. When I watched the national polls before the tight George W Bush/Al Gore contest they were the only ones to show Bush barely leading in the electoral count just before the election.
