I say that because you seem to trivialize the issue.
I am not trivialzing the issue.

I said:

She was smart.
Other girls in my city are doing the same thing.
It’s been happening for years.
So often in fact that it is not newsworth anymore.

and lastly

Not everything that is true needs a news report to support it.

From that, you got:

Since abortion is legal and happening everywhere we should not report on it.

What???

No separate issue here.

In order to see race track races here you need to be in building. They rarely have live races, most are simulcast on closed circuit TV maybe 10-20 different race tracks running all over the country. You bet on each track.

Live racing is rare and takes place during summer. (maybe those few days parents could bring them outdoor and they would be allowed in - family days often have live racing.).

There are different areas – one area would be for simulcast race track betting and another for slots
I would like to point out that we are then talking about 2 separate issues. What you are describing is a casino.

When people here have talked about taking their kids to a horse race. Do you think that they are taking their children to an actual horse race, to actually see horses race on a track? Or do you imagine them taking taking their kids to a casino, as you have described, to have their kids watch 10-20 races simultaneously throughout the country on a tv?

When I talk about taking my kid to a car race, do you imagine that I am taking him to an actual car race, on a race track? Or do you imagine that I am taking him to a casino, where he can vegetate in front of a tv screen to watch 10-20 different races simultaneously?

Honestly, what you have described sounds incredibly boring, even as an adult. If I wanted to have my child vegetate in front of a tv screen. Then I would just leave him at home. When parents talk about taking their kids to see any kind of race, they are literally talking about taking their kids to see a physical race. They are not talking about taking their kids to some casino, to watch whatever race on multiple tv screens.

Smart girl. I fail to see the problem as long as parents talk to her about this stuff. She is going to have to see it sooner or later.

Girl scouts are set up in front of my local grocery stores this week. One of them is by where the liquor area is. Problem? What problem?

Regarding racetracks, I only know the ones in California, they allow minors as long as they’re accompanied by a parent or guardian. Minors are just not allowed at the betting windows. Santa Anita has a nice picnic area inside the race track, get to it via tunnel from the parking lot. This is marketed toward families. I can remember going to Opening Day when I still lived in LA.

What I am describing is not a casino. We also have a casino nearby. It is a race track that has slot machines, was a race track many, many years before adding slots but again only had simulcast betting for the most part. It is not boring for those who enjoy gambling as a form of relaxation the pace on the screens is pretty fast pace.

These are the only kind of race tracks we have here - at times they have live racing.

I am not disagreeing that some parents take their kids to see live racing. Other take them because they don’t have a babysitter and that is why there is an age limit.

It is so a casino.

ca·si·no
kəˈsēnō/

noun

a public room or building where gambling games are played.

synonyms:gambling establishment, gambling club, gambling den, gaming house

“playing the slots in her favorite casino”

You can get in semantics. Even when there were no slots just horse racing at both race tracks it was mostly simulcast betting. It was much smaller but still had a good crowd. The race tracks have evolved but for last 80 years they have been race tracks.

You can’t just sti there all day and bet on 10 races. There are hundreds to bet on with simulcast. Like I said on some days they had live racing.
