I don’t know why you are asking for proof. Many many cities have stories of Girl Scouts selling outside of dispensaries. It’s very common and has been happening for years.

I’ve gone with the kids to Saratoga. We placed a bet but lost.

The horses were very beautiful.

This is same girl Danielle Lei. Why do I sense someday I will see her on the Today show.

The thing to know about Nevada, is that everywhere has slot machines. Grocery stores have slot machines, convenience stores have slot machines, family restaurants have slot machines, the airport has slot machines. All of these places have slot machines all out in the open.

Children are not allowed to play on the machines. But they are most certainly not sheltered from them. As far as actual casinos go. Children are not allowed on the casino floor, but many hotels/casinos have tons of other activities families with young children can do besides gambling

Despite being legalized in many states for recreational and/or medicinal use, pot still has a somewhat louche reputation in the eyes of the public.

In case I’m not the only one who didn’t really know that word 😊

louche - adjective
disreputable or sordid in a rakish or appealing way.
“the louche world of the theater”

From the French word for ‘to squint’ (‘loucher’): a wonderfully expressive word to mean disreputable.

Even worse, some scouts set up tables outside grocery stores where they sell alcohol! This irresponsible parenting has to stop.
We don’t agree on much, you and I, but this one got a laugh and a clap out of me. 10 points.

Yes they are not allowed on the floor where adults are gambling and there is a reason for that.

The race tracks near me don’t have a few but literally thousands of slot machines. The pot industry is using this girl in their promotion “Come in and get GMS with your Girl Scout Cookies”

No one is going to approach the marjuana industry, too much money.

You’re conflating two separate issues.
  1. A horse race is a sporting event. It involves jockeys riding big beautiful horses across a finish line. There is nothing illegal or immoral taking a child to such event. In fact it’s fun. While you’re there take your child to the paddock, to see the horses before the race. Ask their opinion about who they want to win. Perhaps buy them an ice cream before the race starts. And chear on their favorite horse as they are running the race. It is a fun sporting event.
  2. The betting tables and casino attached to the building. Don’t take your kids there Not because it is unethical to gamble. But because the law requires you to be 21 to do it. So don’t take them to the slot machines to win that grand prize.
Parents…take your child to the race, avoid the casino…easy peasy solution.

No separate issue here.

In order to see race track races here you need to be in building. They rarely have live races, most are simulcast on closed circuit TV maybe 10-20 different race tracks running all over the country. You bet on each track.

Live racing is rare and takes place during summer. (maybe those few days parents could bring them outdoor and they would be allowed in - family days often have live racing.).

There are different areas – one area would be for simulcast race track betting and another for slots.

This is happening so often in so many cities that it’s not newsworthy anymore. Not everything that is true needs a news report to support it.

Children are always allowed at Belmont racetrack (home of the Belmont Stakes, one of the three races of the Triple Crown). They’re probably not allowed at the betting window. There are no slots or other forms of gambling at Belmont.

I don’t know about Aqueduct – I haven’t been there in years.

Those are the only tracks I’ve ever been to.

i have yet o hear reports it is happening everywhere. We know it is not happening in Colorado. Your logic -Since abortion is legal and happening everywhere we should not report on it.

Awhile back but I’ve been to Belmont. They certainly would not be allowed at betting windows and wonder how often they have live racing as that may be a factor.

They have live racing every day in the season. It’s a beautiful track. The high point of the season is the Belmont Stakes, but I really don’t enjoy that day – it’s so crowded.

You can sit in the grandstands, or go right down to the track, to watch the races. If you want to pay more, you can sit in the clubhouse, which is air-conditioned, and has waiter service, and some nicer food, but it’s not as much fun. I’d rather be outside.

Though awhile ago I’ve been there and sat in the stands outside. Not sure what there policy is on kids. When they had the dog track here, live dog racing was pretty neat too.

No.

No.

No.

That’s not what my logic means and that is not what I am saying. I have no idea how you have come to that conclusion.

I say that because you seem to trivialize the issue.

I am not saying that I am overly concerned because this seems to be mainly one girl and we are not sure if this will catch on and more will hit the pot dispensaries. It is an easy money.

I think it was very inappropriate how Urban Leaf handled. Don’t do a promotion on it.

Girls Scouts is not addressing it but any group in bed with Planned Parenthood, what can one expect.
