In places I have been, that has not been my observation with regards to saying the Eucharistic Prayer aloud. In the Philippines it usually complete silence. There was a time we would say “My Lord and my God” during the elevation. But that was about it.Well, there are numerous Philipine Catholics in our Parish and almost all of them lift their hands during the Our Father, and when stating “for the kingdom, the power …etc” they will raise them waaaay above their heads.
Some now, have started raising their hands copying the Priest during other parts of the Mass and even saying aloud the consecration of the Host!(thankfully it is not the majority doing this abuse!)
I really wish the Priest would say something about these liturgical abuses occuring prior to Mass beginning. Many people are unaware that it is an abuse of the liturgy of Mass.
