I have looked for 2 years.
I think thats deep enough dont you? šŸ™‚

Bessides at least now that i am not praying as much as i used to i am rid of those weird dreams in which i am pope. 😊
OK šŸ™‚ I don’t know your experiences and I’m not sure where you’re coming from on this but the church’s teachings are quite balanced, based/supported by ā€œnatural lawā€-think natural. But as humans, inside or outside the church, we can easily tend to become over-scrupulous or off-centered, etc, in a variety of ways. The Catechism teaches, that, at the Fall, man ā€˜conceived a distorted image of God’, and that we became divided within ourselves. We’re still battling that distorted image of Him, and with our own internal distortions and imbalances as well. God restores us to nature-to our true natures, as He intended from the beginning. The sin we find in our world, resulting in fouled relationships with others-stuff we read about in newspapers and experience daily, opposes love and the peace it produces. It opposes God. God’s already chosen-He loves man. It’s our choice whether or not we care.

If prayer gives you insight, then obviously you should be praying more.

But the greatest of all forms of earthly prayer is the Mass, which is how Jesus prays for us before the Father. All the angels and saints join with us and Jesus.

So go to Mass at least once a week, and pray at home too.
Praying more? 😊
Are you sure thats a good idea?

My neighberhood has no church, and i am not trafic safe.
I think i should pray at my home altar every sunday though…

A friend plays the cello in a church once a year.
He takes me.
And i think the church has bigger fish to fry than this unconformed guy. šŸ™‚
Me and my home altar are doing fine.

I always feel spiritually connected and it frives me crazy to be honest.
I even prayed for a sign in Rome.
Be carefull wwwhat you wish for indeed.
Bigger fish than you? Stop, you sell yourself short, Jesus loves you and frankly in my spiritual eye I see and hear the Church calling you=Jesus himself. šŸ˜‰

That sorta makes sense.
Wish i could change the tradition slightly though…

I could pray more at my home altar…
And Jesus calling me?
You sound like that monk in my day dreams when i pray every day. šŸ™‚
I did that for a while.

He’s standing at the gate of heaven, hands open, is this the time of atonement for those neglected holy days of obligation, the moment before you meet the one who loves you and whom you love, who comes to judge the quick and the dead? How certain are you by Canon law you’ll find a friend in Jesus? Will you make it through the gate?

I have no fear of judgement no.
I think my graces by far outweigh my sins. šŸ™‚

There is always room for improvement but i am not damned.
Only a few are.

And what do you mean by ā€˜ā€˜those neglected holy days of obligation’’?

But you don’t know which few or what degree of iniquity found them tried and found wanting at the balance scale.

I don’t want to think and trust my judgement at the balance scale or the gate in the finite minutes before the goal post . I prefer to be ā€œcertainā€ and trust Christs Church. We are called to be Saints not linger around the border of the damned hoping for salvation in purgatory. What I mean by those most Holy days is its a mortal sin to miss them?

I dont feel that urge.
I believe, i do not Know.
What holy days do you mean?

The ones which your required to attend along with the weekly mass according to the Catholic Church. You saying you don’t really attend the Church but once a year, I don’t understand how that is possible? How did you come to the conclusion this will help not attending mass but yearly? Perhaps I am misunderstanding this point of yearly mass-Church.

There is no church in my neighberhood and i cant travel there.
So i have a home altar.
Its ok if you CANT go.

Not if you dont WANT to though.
If you can you should neither go, or stop calling yourself catholic.

I’m just new here and I might be wrong, but I believe this whole thread is the fabrication of a troll. One who makes utterly outrageous statements for the sole purpose of provoking argument, not for gaining knowledge or insight.

So Mr. Troll, try to comprehend that God gave us 10 simple rules. We get born, baptized,
do our utmost best to follow the rules, die and go to heaven. Perhaps with a temporary stopover in purgatory. Depending on our diligence, the duration of our visit there could vary. If by some reason we fail to get baptized and yet stay within the guidelines we go to limbo, however the stop off in purgatory may still apply. The good, and the innocent, people, sooner or later will make it into heaven, or at the very least escape the fires of hell.

Those who choose to flaunt the rules, the thieves, murders, rapists, adulterers, pedophiles, cheats, hypocrites, idolaters, hedonists and those who choose to ridicule God for amusement purposes, should look forward to an overly warm eternity.

No i am honest and frankly i find this whole accusation to be offensive and rude!
And your judgement is misplaced.
Christ judges not you.

Now that’s ironic. I’ve found every statement you’ve made on this thread to be offensive and rude. I made no personal judgement of anyone, but if you see yourself among the group I feel most undesirable, well, that’s tough.

You said i was a troll and that is offensive.
Unless i am mistaken on that. šŸ™‚

And i am not trying to be offensive.
So i apologize if i come off that way for that has never been my intention.

I think my greatest problem with the more so called ā€œconservativeā€ point of view is that everything is about Devine authority.Well, that is kind of true. Divine authority is the only real authority in the entire cosmos.
Sin is going against gods will, and if we sin to much we go to hell.Yes, and we are born into sin. That is why Jesus came, to free the sinner mankinnd
Not because these things are bad for us or others, no, its only because it goes against Gods will that we are punished. It is a self inflicted punishment
It makes God seem like a north Korean dictator. No it does not, It makes God seem the ultimate in Justice and Mercy

Some may say that its still our choice, but choosing between doing as God commands and being tortured for eternity is not really a choice. Most people do not see that as the choice, it is doing what I will or what God wills.
Its still obey or perish,No, it is Love or perish do/think as i say or be killed/tortured No, it is Love, and you will be saved just like most oppressive nations of the world. :shrug:Nothing like that.

I believe that only the most evil go to hell, and not innocent people, let alone children.
Because if God really does send toddlers to an eternity of pain and torture i want NOTHING to do with him anymore.#1, The CHuch does not teach this, and that is why Limbo was a convenient explanation. And while Limbo is not a teaching of the faith, one may choose to believe in it. And #2) You want nothing to do with God if his wisdom does not match your own? I trust that God permits those who choose hell to go to hell because it is Just.

I don’t believe God is like that but i frightens me that some doWho do? and frankly i find it damaging to the church overall,Again, the view you have is not the view of any educated Catholic, conservative or otherwise and i hope i am wrong and that most do NOT believe this. 😦

I certainly never will. :)I will believe whatever God chooses to reveal through his Holy Church.

I strongly believe it would/will only drive people away, apart from the fact that my conscience says its not the truth. Popularity is never the basis for Truth

Blessings to all. :blessyou:
Do you have a good understanding of what Justice is and why it is Holy? Are you aware of what the Church teaches? And how do you define the really really bad people that go to hell?

Troll is a term used to describe someone who posts solely for the purpose of provoking others. The premise that God ā€œtorturesā€ souls including babies and toddlers is so ridiculous to me that it could only be proffered by an atheist bound on being offensive.
Babies and children under the age of reason are considered ā€œinnocentsā€ and would not be
sent to hell even if unbaptized. (I have however been exposed to a few toddlers over the years, that gave every indication of having come from there.)

If you were raised as a Catholic you would be familiar with Limbo, and Purgatory and I don’t believe you would not have made some of the outrageous posts that you did.

My apologies to the other posters who participated in this thread, but I just can’t take this person seriously

Your Constitution has NOTHING to do with the catholic faith.
So why mention it?
And i dont think of them like heroes as you do.

Only in extreme cases like murder, rape, or genocide.
Not for being in another faith etc…
I mention it because my Constitution, written by just, prudent, and far-seeing men, says that we are endowed by the CREATOR with certain inalienable rights.

Not by the government. By God.

That Creator could not be a dictator.

If men of good will wish to have a serious discussion, we need to define our terms so we do not compare apples and oranges.

I still understand the difficulty people have with a God who is indeed portrayed as a dictator. Please state specific examples.

I am aware that the Church teaches Christ judges both the the living and the dead.
Thats what the Crede says.

We do not define for ours is not to judge but to rejoice in his light, and treat other like brothers and sisters, after all was it not ST Benedict who said that nobody should be denied entry for even the worst sinner for God has the capacity to work through all? šŸ™‚

If you truly want to make a difference, pray for them, but do not damn them in their face for this will only scatter them i fear. 🤷

I have seen it happen countless times.
