There is a lot of good done in the world by devout Protestants. I think that should be recognised. Catholics dont do it all. I have heard some very good Protestant speakers. They are very clearly very devout Christian people.

I went on a procession of witness through our main town centre behind the cross yesterday. We had to walk behind a big cross with a man at the front beating a loud drum. The noise of the drum brought everyone’s attention and they all looked around to see what the noise was. I felt really stupid in case anyone saw me who knew me. I dont want folk to think I am a bit of a loony. We got abuse from passing motorists. Even the community police escorting us were ashamed to be seen too close to us.

I was disappointed in the catholic turnout. Only 25% of the procession were catholics. 75% were Protestant. Catholics make up 10% of the local Christian Church population. The Protestant and Catholic comaradarie among processors was fantastic. Every denomination was represented witnessing for Jesus…exept SDA and JW’s. They had more sense.

Where was I?..Oh yes, the bible. God wrote it for every living creature to interpret it how they want. That is the point of it. There isn’t meant to be one interpretation. How dare the catholic Church alleging there is only one interpretation. My 6 brothers and I our mum used to say, are chalk and cheese. So, we have got 7-chalk and cheese bibles. Whats that got to do with you anyway!

God can do anything He choses.

You have to admit the catholics are a bit bonkers. They celebrate the Lords Day from sunset on Saturday evening. They also celebrate His glorious resurrection from after sun down on Saturday. Dont understand that. Everybody knows he rose again on Sunday. Where in the bible does it say He rose on Saturday night? WHere eh? Tell me that one!

Yeah I only realised this was catholic teaching recently. The first day of the week in Jewish starts 6pm Saturday Night, therefore that is the time we are to start Sunday Worship. I wondered why there wasn’t allowed to be sunday mass services starting after 6pm sunday night and only just found out very recently.

Therefore why do some protestant denominations insist on sunday night worship? isn’t that the second day of the week? In the AOG, that practise is rife with some churches.

Well isn;t someone going to tell me or have I got to explain it myself…For Pete’s sake…

In the Lords Day, there was no such thing as clocks. The Seiko time piece for split second timing of olympic events was yet to be invented. The atomic clock yet to be discovered.

So, the day ended at sundown. The first hour of darkness was in fact the first hour of the next day. They had no conception of midnight.

How do we know this? Because of Catholic tradition, it has been handed down that they did not celebrate New Years Eve on the stroke of midnight seeings they did not know when midnight was:p

So, the next day began immediately after sunset on what we now think of as the evening before.

So when we think of the Lord’s resurrection, it need not have been Sunday and probably wasn’t according to the Bible, as it is recorded 'Early on Sunday Morning while it was still dark, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb. She saw that the stone had already been rolled away from the entrance Jn20:20.

Since the writing of the Scriptures not even the fundamentals of what we take for granted as ‘when the day starts and finishes’, is in accord with early practice.

We know this only because there is one among us old enough to have been there in the beginning of the New Covenant 😉

Everybody knows that God gave us the bible. It was given by God as a whole book from Genesis to Revelation. Everyting we need for life is in the bible. Protestants are right.we do not need a church of any kind. All we need is the Bible.

The Lord’s public ministry was not necessary, He could have done it in private. We have His word in the bible handed down to us from God. God gave us the bible. The Catholic Church put books into it that God did not pen. Protestants took them out again!

We do not need the Catholic Church as we are free to interpret it as we want. That is why athiests interpret it different to SDA which is different to JW’s which is different to Moslems, which is different to mainstream Protestants which is different to Catholic and Orthodox.

It can be interpreted however you want. My agnostic friends interpret it and they dont even believe in it.

So we did not need a Catholic Church. The Catholic Church the pope and His Apostles were actually not necessary.

Catholics are idolatrous because they worship the Father Son and Holy Spirit, Mary and the saints. You should worship only one God and the Bible.
Sure you can interpret it anyway you want to, just like the Mormons have, the Jehova witnesses have, the Seventh Day adventists have, Christians scientists have etc. The difference is that these groups have actually changed the Bible. They have either added to, or taken away from scripture. 1 Tim 6:3-4 ’ If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords to Godliness, he is conceited, and understands nothing.’ Galatians 1:6-12 ‘But even if we or an angel from heaven (Joseph Smith and the angel Moroni) preach any other Gospel to you than that what we have preached to you let him be accursed.’
Jesus public ministry was absolutely necessary, and if it had been done in private as you have suggested, what would He have accomplished? Just another “story”.

God Bless,
Robert

Eph 5:20-21 ‘Test all things, hold fast to what is good.’

boy is that the truth, so do my atheist friends. I am constantly amazed that when the secularists want to attack Christianity they do it through some bible-based program on the History-DTV network which purports to be both historical and scientific yet is full of historical and scientific errors. If they can’t get the history right which is their job, how can they be trusted to get the bible right, yet they are fascinated with it.

Sixtus, you are the ever-living end. :hypno: You crack me up. Thanks.😃

**Hi Sixtus

Who say we don’t need the church?? as a protestant myself i never heard of such stuff!!!**

The Lord’s public ministry was not necessary, He could have done it in private. We have His word in the bible handed down to us from God. God gave us the bible. The Catholic Church put books into it that God did not pen. Protestants took them out again!

We need ministries to serve others, and books found in the bible all comes from God, nobody got any rights to own it!!

We do not need the Catholic Church as we are free to interpret it as we want. That is why athiests interpret it different to SDA which is different to JW’s which is different to Moslems, which is different to mainstream Protestants which is different to Catholic and Orthodox.

No true, if bible can be interpret so easily, then it is no longer a bible, maybe we can call it a dictionary or even a story bk where everyone after reading it can understand it so easily without any help

It can be interpreted however you want. My agnostic friends interpret it and they dont even believe in it.

We don’t worship the bible, and of course there is nothing wrong of having intercession with the Saints, just that protestant choose not to practise it.

This is just Sixtus way of attempting to make Protestants “eat rats” the way the RCC literally made my ancestors eat rats at the seige of Rochelle;)

Not to mention the fact we baptize babies and dont even properly immerse them!

I just looked at your profile. YOUR’E CATHOLIC??? You sound like a diehard Baptist too me. I don’t mean to sound unkind, but from this post, you do not know anything about how the Bible was put together.
There is so much more I could write about. But others more competant than I have written about these things already.
Do you still attend Church? God help you to see the truth.

My Southern friend, I do believe in the interests of fairness that all of us have fallen short of the mark. Please remember that for some of us, the Grand Derangement is every bit as frightful and forceful as the siege of La Rochelle. I say this as a descendant of those Acadians who ended up here in Louisiana. Likewise, too, remember that the graneries and warehouses were full in 1847 in Ireland. What would you say to being dumped on the levees of New Orleans in July of 1848? I know you to be a student of history. Let’s be honest here.

Unless I miss my interpretation completely, Sixtus is using a well known debating device similar to the one Jonathan Swift used in the 1700s:

My boyfriend, a history expert as well as a Protestant, has confirmed that the Catholic Church put the Bible together. He’s used that to back me up when I’d get attacked with anti-Catholic sentiments.

My dear Christian brother [or sister], you are very touchy, you could not be further from the truth. I do not believe in revenge. You are completely mistaken. 🙂

My ancestors [the Gosnolds] were a very wealthy family. My direct descendent was cousin to English Queen Elisabeth 1.

The assets and estate of my ancestors, were stripped by the Protestants. They could have instituted a crippling tax but no, they didn’t want a little or even most of it, they wanted and stole the lot!

Today my friend We love our Protestant brothers and sisters. We feel a great affection for them. Rats? If I had the power you would feast on the fatted calf 🙂

I strongly disagree, and i’ts not just because I’m a Pagan…its irrational. people wrote the bible, people of the Catholic Church. and the Bible has actually been changed through the generations. king James actually made his own version of the bible.

and I don’t mean to be rude but if you can show me that the bible was made by God himself, and not a person I would appreciate it.
If and when irrational people did write the BIBLE then why is there a coherent theme within. God dictated the BIBLE thru the hand of men. The BIBLE must be interperted using the scripture within.

Protestants are right.we do not need a church of any kind. All we need is the Bible.
…and which Protestant church is it again that believes this?

(and unless all Protestant churches believe this, you are committing the logical fallacy of allness (ascribing to all the characteristics of a few))

I don’t know why but I reading all of Sixtus post seem so Anti-Catholic to me.

To refute his claim.

God inspired Men to write the Bible. The Catholic Church collected both 73 OT and 27 NT in the Council of Hippo, Carthage, Florence, and finalized it in the Council of Trent.

God himself did not write with pen and paper. Men use papyrus and wrote it in scrolls. These men inspired by God wrote the Bible. The Catholic Church preserved it.

We don’t even have the originals. The Manuscript we have are copies since the original were destroyed during the persecution of the Early Christians.

God is indeed the author of the Bible but he did not physically write it down. He inspired Men, men Inspired by the Holy Spirit to write.

Jesus in fact did not tell his Apostles. “Go and write what I have told you.”

Jesus said, “Go forth and preached (orally) the Gospel.”

The NT text itself was written 20-30 yrs after the event.

You need to read Rev. Henry G. Graham “Where We Got the Bible.”

He fully explains how the we owe our debt to the Catholic Church.

To end, let me quote St. Augustine, my Patron Saint:

“I wound not believe the Gospel unless moved thereto by the authority of the Catholic Church.” -St. Augustine of Hippo (Contras Epis. Manich., Fund, n. 6).

I would also be careful about interpreting the Bible. Let me quote St. Peter.

“In which are certain things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and the unstable wrest, as they do also other scriptures, to their own destruction.” 2 Peter 3:16

Self-interpretation is a no No according both Scripture and Our Traditions.
