Thank you. Now it makes sense. I have read some of Sixtus’s other posts and this thread represented a definite departure from the rest.

Well maybe you can’t find it or identify with it, and don’t know anyone who belongs to it, but if you read the chapter and verses that I have given you, whether you like it or not, that is God’s Church. Back up your claim with something other than your subjective opinion, like something from the Bible.
Go with God’s word, not what you think is God’s word.

This is using a very wide brush to paint anyone who isn’t in your belief system. I am sure that there are individuals who might possible fall into the catagory that you describe, but you make it seem as though anyone who isn’t a Catholic, must consider himself a free moral agent who is accountable to no one, including God. I think these statements you have made, serve no useful purpose and do nothing to advance the word of God. Vain ramblings.

I guess maybe a defintion of The Church is appropriate. The aggregate of all regenerated believers who have lived at any time during the period between Pentecost and the Rapture. John 14:16,26;16:12-15). The age will end when the Church is completed at the Rapture. (1 Thess. 4:13-18; 1 Cor. 15:53, 54).
This is the Church that I belong to. Praise God.

This goes against old testament prophecy from the book of Issaiah, that states in no questionable terms, when the Son came he would establish a visible ecclesiastic Government and his Kingdom.
The people walking in darkness

The invisible church doctrine ignores the Old Testament prophercy. How can a government, a physical government and kingdom be invisible? moreover why would it be invisible at all? This is the Jewish understanding of the passage. They understood it to mean a reestablishment of their own physical Government over a new Israel(God’s Kingdom).

The Jewish understanding of the passage is in harmony only with the Catholic Church’s teaching that IT is the physical government of God(Established by Jesus, King of the Jews, Son of God with the Rock of Peter, God’s first chosen “Prime Minister”) prophesied in this passage, it is also the new Kingdom established(On “the rock” of Jesus it’s leader).

The Catholic Church is the prophesied Physical and Very Visible Government and also the Spiritual Kingdom that God promised in no uncertain terms in Issiah. All the “church” passages of the

In a way this statement and the resulting reactions goes to further prove my doubt about the Bible, who wrote it and the centuries of debate surrounding it.

If you’re someone who takes everything they read literally, and not an Aussie, the original "taking the … " phrase could have some ugly results.😛 That one little remark alone has caused a considerable amount of misunderstanding and debate on this thread alone, I can well imagine why the Bible has caused such a stir.

The Bible, written in more than a few obscure languages (by today’s standards) and is full of purely human phrases and coloquialisms, intended to make an impact on the reader. Centuries later, and a few layers of languages deep, we are all now still trying to figure out what is being said, and arguing about it.

God should’ve made a movie instead… 🙂

Robert, you sound like a typical Protestant who wishes for some kind of vague non-organization for a church. Jesus did indeed form a visible organized structure as the church. NOT some disembodied entity. But why should I even waste my breath?

The Church I attend seems quite visible to me. There is a visible parking lot, where I park my visible car, and a beautiful visible structure inside of which is a visible sanctuary. The service lasts approximately an hour and a half. We sing songs to God, and then our Pastor prays and reads from the Bible, and gives a sermon based on scripture. After the service, everyone that wants to stay and have fellowship with one another meets outside, where there is coffee and donuts. The visible Church that I attend has approximately 200 very visible members. It is hardly invisible. There are many Bible studies during the week. We have missionaries in different parts of the country that we support and encourage. We are active in the community and help out whenever possible. We are not perfect by any means, but we are the body of Christ.
Eph. 2:19-22 “Now therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having being built on the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”
God’s household is not a building, but a group of people. We are citizens of God’s kingdom and members of His household. Thank You Jesus.

So in the Bible whenever I see the word Church, I am to assume that God is talking about The Roman Catholic Church, and not the Church that I attend? Just asking.

Please read the message above, it might answer your question. What in the world makes you think that anyone who doesn’t attend your Church is involved in “some kind of vague non-organization disembodied entity.”? Please read Eph. 2:19-22.

Most Protestant Churches can trace their lineage back to the Pre-Reformation Catholic Church organization and from there to Peter.
Do you Catholic Holy Rollers not understand that before the splits our histories were the same? Geez! I need a chill pill!

Nup, they were not bestowed officially Apostolic Sucession, therefore there is no lineage back to peter. To say so is like saying… “Well we all originally came from England, ergo We’re all still pommies… despite the fact we decided to forcefully separate theologically from them” … not true.

Whether we like if or not, the Protestant Reformation happened. Protestantism continues to fragment into ever smaller groups.

We all proclaim the SAME Christ.

What sort of example do we give to the rest of the non-Christian world when even Christians bicker and in-fight.

Let us celebrate our similarities not argue about our differences 🙂
