Talked to someone knowledgable in the Bible about the 666 thing, this was his reply -

“As it happens 616 has been a known variant for quite some time, so this is not news. As a preterist I have noted that 616 fits the name of Nero in Latin, while 666 is his name in Hebrew, So 616, 666…both are fine with me, and the appearance of both is a plus”

In the Bible, the very first Original Version of Revelation 13:18 (about 666) was in GREEK, not in latin or in Hebrew

Why do we spend time and energy doing this? Are we going to be able to predict the future? Can you judge the man by his number? Why not trust God’s judgment and work through the Holy Spirit in His vicar on earth?

My birthday is June 6th. A terrible twinge hits my stomach when this number thing pops up, relating it to Satan and evil.I’m already thinking about next year which will be 06/06/2006.

Thank goodness we have faith and salvation in our Lord and depend on His judgment, not our own.

No man, or woman can judge justly.

Interesting thread. I know someone who uses the Golden Number to argue for the existence of God to atheists and agnostics.
Now, I’m no mathematician or scientist, far from it, so I don’t really understand this thread but am interested in the theory of the use of the Golden Number to bring on the beast. Maybe we could have a thread for the laymen?

Isn’t this all a moot point anyway? Doesn’t the Church teach that we are in the “Millenium” now. Isn’t applying that pre-millenial stuff in Revalation to modern times a heresy called dispensationalism?

Yes, but it was written for congregations that had Jewish roots and who would have understood the reference.
