It is a sad day for St. Louis to lose our good and holy Archbishop, but great for Holy Mother Church. Please pray for Archbishop Burke as he takes his new position in Rome. Also, pray that his successor upholds the standards that Archbishop Burke has set and continues to show strong leadership for our Church here in St. Louis. God bless Archbishop Burke! Deo Gratias!

What a sad, yet extremely joyous day this is for St. Louis and for Archbishop Burke. I guess, ultimately, we knew it was only a matter of time. Archbishop Burke is most deserving of this position and of the red hat of a Cardinal. I pray for his success in his newly appointed position as well as for the future of the Archdiocese of St. Louis and our future shepard.

:gopray2: Archbishop Burke

:gopray: Archdiocese of St. Louis

To be honest, I don’t agree with some of his public statements, etc…however, he has a keen canonical mind and this is a fine place for him within the church.

:crying::extrahappy:I will mis the good Archbishop! However, God apparently has much bigger plans for him. I pray that our Holy Father will give us another shining example of orthodoxy in our next Archbishop.

:crossrc:for both him and St. Louis

On and aside, I can’t wait to see the backlash from the likes of the Post Dispatch and others.

:crying: I knew we couldn’t keep him to ourselves much longer. Good news for the Catholics of the world.

I’ll bet “the so-called progressive crowd who will not be able to contain themselves” will be in for a shock at the next Archbishop!

I’m sure the media will be finding all the wrong people to talk to about this, so let us pray too for the Archbishop as he endures the venom, the ingratitude, the insults, the glee over his departure that will now undoubtedly come his way.

Well, I’d suggest that St Louis won’t be a vacant see for any incredible amount of time…it seems like when this sort of thing happens that some sort of succession plan is already in the works.

That being said, we still have a good number of dioceses in this country that need bishops.

Somehow it wouldn’t surprise me to see Robert Finn brought back to St Louis…

Speculating can be so much fun…

I guess this is what happens when you get one positive article in the Post (the seminary growth one) 🙂 . Obviously the Pope read it!

It will be interesting to see the take on this in the local media. Any one guessing how many St. Stan’s parishners will be quoted for comments?

Prayers for Burke. Prayers for St. Louis. Prayers for our new Archbishop.

You know Satan was very busy in St. Louis during Archbishop Burke’s tenure. He has had to address some of the most ridiculous heresies in the history of St. Louis. The biggest one being the “ordination” of women in a Jewish Synagogue. Followed by a gay priest, who left his bishop and mentor without permission, heading an apostate Polish Parish that decided it didn’t have to submit to the archdiocese in order to stay Catholic.

Good luck in your new post Archbishop Burke and my God continue to bless you and your work.:extrahappy:

I’m not real sure what the Apostolic Signatura is, but this is what the Wikipedia article says:
The Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura is the administrative appellate tribunal of the Holy See and, consequently, the highest judicial authority of the Catholic Church besides the Pope himself.
Appeals in standard judicial process, if appealed to the Holy See, normally do not reach the Signatura. Those go to the Sacra Rota Romana. However, a few special processes are adjudicated before the Signatura:
Code:
* Conflicts of jurisdiction between two or more tribunals or dicasteries,
* Administrative acts of ordinaries and dicasteries (including penal cases decided without using a court),
* Petitions for a retrial of a Rotal decision due to the decision being null, and
* Matters involving advocates and inter-diocesan first instance and appellate tribunals.
Whereas a Rotal decision could, if not res judicata, be appealed to another turnus of the Rota, there is no right of appeal from the decision of the Signatura (can. 1629 §1 CIC).

Congratulations to Abp Burke on his promotion.

**I am :extrahappy: + :crying: . It’s bittersweet. He will be greatly missed by many but it’s also a happy occasion for him.

God Bless Archbishop Burke and many prayers for him and the STL archdiocese. :signofcross: :gopray: **

Oh man ya’ll have been so lucky to have him. Now he will be in the Vatican which will be another support for the Pope and his Traditional ways.

He will look good in red - and that should come with the next consistory.

Frankly, I think he was becoming too controversial and a problem in the US. The Vatican is quitely moving him on so to speak. IMO.

Really?

And if this move makes him a possible candidate for a red hat, would that be a progression for him or not?

**Why do you say this? Because he plays by the ‘rules’ and doesn’t sway??? **
