Saddled with the perception that it is a darling of the Obama administration, Google may have it tough with Republicans.
The company whose chief executive campaigned for President Obama stands to become a target of investigations by multiple committees.
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), who has promised to be an aggressive watchdog as chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has led congressional Republicans in questioning whether Google has inappropriate ties to the Obama administration.
Issa wrote to the White House in April to ask whether a technology official and former Google employee had unethical contact with the company.
Here we go, I got a feeling this will be all we see the next two years.

An don’t forget the S&P 500 Companies. Link
Personally, I could care less who and how much they make political contributions to. It’s not so much a problem, until they start sleeping in the same bed and getting special contracts and kick backs directly from a politician.

Immelt and Obama are buddies, they have left a blatant trail of money behind them. Immelt has also been talking about Chinese and India and how much money he was going to make off of them. Especially India.

Even if Google did something blatantly
Code:
illegal, which I doubt, I’m not entirely confident in the government’s ability to effectively investigate something that an information giant like Google is trying to keep hidden.

Where was this “aggressive watchdog” when the Bush Administration was awarding Haliburton with multi-billion dollar no-bid contracts? Has anyone even considered the fact that Google is the only company with the capability of producing the quality and quantity of data sought by the NGIA?

Remember: It’s okay if you are a Republican or Pro-Republican.

Nations all across the globe have been investigating google’s activities- I see no reason this has to be politically motivated.

Or any of the Federal Reserve banks, like Goldman Sachs.
Let’s do them all man, let us open it ALL up.

Heck let us end this mess and just have candidates get the same amount of debate and airtime. Done and done.

I agree. The sooner we end the endemic and ubiquitous corruption in Washington, the better for all of us.

Huh and huh?

People LOVE to whine about so-called corruption in corporations… but come on, how about the ultra-corrupt Democrat-controlled House and Senate which we’ve been suffering under for the last, what has it been now, four years? The Democrats got us into the recession, NOT businesses. It’s tough enough as it is for business, big or small, to stay afloat in the country right now, and it’s obvious to most Americans that the government is miles more corrupt than any business.

The key difference between liberal “witch hunts” and conservative “witch hunts” is that the liberals seek to defame corporations for causing the problems which they themselves helped to create, while doing so from their seat of power in the government. The conservatives, however, are more often than not people who were raised up from their own state, and sent into the fray of Washington to start looking at government itself.

Oh please, republican politicians are every bit as willing to get involved in defamation as democrats. This isn’t even a point which you can debate, a good number of democrats and republicans have been caught in various scandals and you can bet for everyone that does get caught there is probably one who slips through.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to suggest that only Democrats are involved in scandal. Each side, alas, has its share of that. What I meant was, Republican conservatives are more interested in getting after the government, while the Democrats are more interested in getting after businesses.

I have to agree.

I half agree with you. Republicans are more interested in getting after the government…but only when the democrats are in the white house or hold the majority in the house or senate. Republicans have had no problems expanding government and spending way more than what is available whenever they hold a majority. Then suddenly when the democrats get the majority back they cry foul and talk about how the democrats have spent us into oblivion. Since they keep saying people start believing it.

Since 2000ish job salaries have been flat or have gone down on average accross the country for your average worker. Job growth has been almost non-existant and industries have been slowly deregulated more and more but that’s been happening for at least 30 years.

Everyone talks about the government getting out of the way of business (political speak for deregulation) but getting out of the way is exactly what got us into the situation that we’re in as a country. Business is in the business of making money and businesses will do that however they can. CEO’s do not “do the right thing” because they follow their hearts. They are put in those positions because they’re willing to do what it takes to increase the bottom line and can show results to investors and they’re willing to accept the consequenses of those actions even though it usually amounts to little more than a slap on the wrist when anyone else would go to jail for years.

We’ve proven to ourselves over and over again that deregulation doesn’t work. The Enron scandal, BP Oil spill, wall street collapse (off the top of my head without even thinking about it) are all examples of how deregulation doesn’t work yet we keep standing up and asking for more as if we’re going to get different results. It’s like getting punched in the face and then telling them they didn’t hit us hard enough and daring them to do it again.

Financial institutions have pillaged the country for hundreds of billions. Energy companies drill for natural gas and then the people in that area can suddenly light their well water on fire then say they have nothing to do with it. Our military has become more and more privatized but we’re not better off for it. We’ve handed huge portions of the country over to so called “job creators” but I don’t see any jobs being created.

Ok I’m officially drifting off topic with my rant so I’m just going to stop for a bit. 🙂

but getting out of the way is exactly what got us into the situation that we’re in as a country.
That is exactly backwards according to my experience. We are literally being regulated to death. Certtainly, the health care field has. I don’t understand how it’s even possible not to see that. Unless, of course, I watched TV all day.

There was no “Bush Administration” when the Clinton Administration first awarded Haiburton their no bid contract.

Just so you know, the Obama Administration has awarded a $500 million contract to Halliburton and there were no competing bids.

Incorrect. The contract was awarded to KBR which ceased to be a subsidiary of Halliburton over three years ago. Nice try. 😉
