First of all, it was six million Jews and six million “others” – including gypsies, Polish Catholics, and so on.

Secondly, if killing 12 million is consdiered the greatest crime committed by mankind, how will our genocide of some 48 million be judged?

Third, look at the title of the thread. How many people have been killed by Global Warming?

It may not be CO2 that’s causing the problem, after all.😉
The 48 million is just the number of AMERICAN babies killed by abortion. The world wide total is much greater. Abortion are very common among Chinese, Japanese, Russians and other national groups.

The world total of abortion deaths certainly exceeds the population of the United States. The greatest crime against humanity ever committed.

I suggest you read post #172 in this thread, to get the correct perspective on the issue.
I thought this was called a discussion. Don’t discussions involve people’s opinions?
You believe what you want to be the “correct” perspective. In discussions, there is never, truly a “correct” point of view. Just two different sides trying to get their point across. 😉

😛 This is a catholic forum what do you expect 😛

My opinions have been called all manner of pervisity. I have learned the hard way that it pays to keep one’s opinions to one’s self! In catholicism least in the Roman variety, it seems there is but one opinion and that is the fragmented individualist opinion 😛

I find it funny that I got reprimanded for a “world” issue, though. 🙂 It’s not exclusive to Catholicism.
Oh, I don’t dare discussion doctrinal issues here unless I can devote a whole day to answering a bombardment of questions. :o

Relativism, anyone?

There really isn’t a point to arguing if there’s absolutely no correct point of view. It just ends up being shrill screaming at each other, accompanied by sarcasm and eye-rolling (at least on this site).

But rational argument isn’t just for kicks–it’s to figure out what the truth is. In this situation, it’s clear that abortion is murder, while global warming is not, and only potentially might lead to environmental destruction in the future. Given those facts and the moral standards revealed by God, we can absolutely say that abortion is the “greater threat to humanity”.

Do you really think anything anyone ever believes is really *just *their opinion, and they can’t be sure it’s right? If so, there are quite a few implications of that belief, especially when it comes to Catholicism. Our faith just isn’t compatible with the thought that there is no truth of things; we do believe in and worship Truth Incarnate Himself!

Well said.

In a Relativistic culture, people can’t argue about ideas anymore because they think of ideas as a matter of taste. If I say that someone’s opinion is wrong, a Relativist thinks that I’m insulting the person himself (after all, he’s the one that chose to hold that opinion).

It’s like when children debate chocolate versus vanilla ice cream. Only it’s sad and gravely perverse.

No. 48 million is the numer of abortions worldwide (yearly)

I’ll make you a deal – I’ll put up a cross for every person who’s been killed by Global Warming, and you put up a cross for every person who’s been killed by abortion.😉
Excellent! Way to go Vern! :clapping:

Abortion is no threat to humanity whatsoever. No one believes that we are going to become extinct or that civilization will cease to exist because of abortion. Assuming that more abortions are committed each year than the amount of people now dying from global warming events, the fact is that global warming poses a real threat to humanity. Abortion does not.

I missed that number. How many did you discover died from global warming over the past decade? How many this past year?

doesn’t matter. THe question is not how many have died from abortion vs. global warming. The question is what is the greater threat to humanity.

How many cities, homes, businesses and villages have been destroyed because of abortion?
